The light that fell on the ground, gradually diminished and a silhouette began to form inside.
"Wait, did God sent an angel to save me?" asked Zamurah.
When the light completely disappeared, a 10-year-old girl with large fire-red eyes and hair of the same color appeared. Her ruddy-skinned body was covered in bruises. She had a low forehead and an elegant nose. A black-reddish light armor which reflected light as if plastic made, covered her body, though it was broken in many parts. There were black long-sleeved clothes inside the armor.
"Oh, it's a female. Not an angel I guess," said Zamurah.
"Aren't angels female?" asked one of the persons from the group.
"Not in our religion," replied Zamurah, "It's male over here."
"Where am I? How did I come here?" she said breaking the silence she was in.
Everyone remained quiet. "Answer me!" she got a little angry.
"Look kid, we don't know why you are here either. A light just fell from the sky and we saw you appearing from it," one of them answered. In the meantime, Zamurah was focused on searching for an escape. But his back was still against the wall.
Suddenly, she screamed out, "Dammit! Why now? I almost got her this time!" and punched the ground. After a second, the ground below her exploded and the shockwave from that threw everyone off, the three men on the road behind and Zamurah against the wall.
"Mo…Mo…Monster!" one of them shouted while running away. The other two followed. But Zamurah still couldn't escape as he is still trapped in that corner.
She took a deep breath as if trying to calm herself down. She turned her gaze towards Zamurah. It was enough to get Zamurah's heart beating tremendously.
"You look injured, are you okay?" said Zamurah trying not to make an enemy of her.
"I was in an important battle till I suddenly teleported my way here," she replied.
Zamurah gulped but was a bit relieved at the same time. "At least it's not a monster which would just attack without saying".
Then he prepared himself for a chat intending to keep it as short and safe as possible. "Oh, that explains why you were so angry," said Zamurah.
She frowned back. "You want to say I look like an angry girl?" she asked.
Zamurah stuttered, "No…not…Not really. But momentary anger is just natural for someone who missed an important battle. Isn't it?"
"I see," she replied.
"Well, I hope you can find your way back. Take care," said Zamurah and was headed towards home escaping a potentially life-threatening situation.
"Stop there!" she said, "I need a place to rest. And you will find me that."
A drop of sweat fell from Zamurah's forehead. "Guess it can't be helped," he thought.
After a moment, Zamurah was leading the way for the girl.
"I can't take her to my home. I don't know how to explain this entire supernatural story to Mom without sounding like a fool or a liar. I guess I will just have to take her to that old wooden cottage where my friends are going to meet," thought Zamurah.
"What is your name by the way?" the girl asked.
"I am Zamurah," he replied.
After a while of walking in silence, she asked, "Aren't you going to ask me my name?"
He replied with a stutter again, "Oh sure. What is your name?"
"I am Dominique," she said.
"Can I call you Dom?" said Zamurah accidentally and hold his mouth. He thought, "Damn, I am being goofy again."
"Sure. I don't care," she replied.
Zamurah let out an air of relief. He didn't want to lengthen the conversation so that he doesn't piss her off accidentally. But noticing her calm reaction, Zamurah couldn't handle the suspense anymore. He gained enough confidence to ask, "How did you make the ground explode like that?"
"That's how my Ren works," she answered.
"Ren?" he asked.
"Yeah. I suppose that doesn't exist in your world. After all, I couldn't sense any trace of Ren since the moment I came here," she replied.
"What is this Ren?" asked Zamurah.
"It's kind of hard to explain but basically imagine a currency which you can use to do something supernatural. What supernatural activity you can do depends on the type of Ren you have. For example, my Ren makes anything I touch explode inside out. But then again, due to having a limited amount of Ren, I can't make mountains explode. Also, I can touch things and make a small portion of them explode using a small amount of Ren on purpose. And just like you get a monthly salary from your job, you get a slow refill of your Ren about every second. But in the world of Ren, your bank has a limited storage capacity. It won't refill more than the amount your bank can handle. And if you work hard, that is work on your Ren, you get a promotion. The limit gets decreased," she explained.
"Whoa! That's awesome. Can you take me to that bank?" asked Zamurah.
Dominick facepalmed and replied, "I was using as an example you fool."
"Oh," said Zamurah a bit disappointed. "Can I ask you a question?" he asked.
"Sure," she replied.
"Why was a kid like you in a battle? How old are you?" asked Zamurah.
She seemed gloomy hearing the question. But she answered, "I am 10 years old. I was battling my best friend. I got so close to killing her. I don't know how I suddenly got teleported here."
"You were trying to kill your best friend?" asked Zamurah in shock.
"It's complicated. I don't need to tell you my personal issues," she said.
Zamurah gulped. "Damn, I am getting way too open this time. I might end up enraging her," he thought.
"Her name is Nimi," she said.
"Aww," said Zamurah overloaded by cuteness.
"But people call her Dark Angel now," she continued.
"Aww," said Zamurah in disappointment.
She clenched her fist hard enough that her veins became visible. Zamurah gulped yet again. She said to herself, "I must be the one to kill her. That is why I need to get back as soon as I can."
