Chapter 3 - To help someone who can kill you!

Walking soon led them to a forest on the roadside. Entering a little deep, they came across a hillock which they climbed to find a two-storied wooden cottage.

"This your house Zamurah?" she asked.

"No, not mine. And I don't know whose this is either. It's probably an abandoned house that I and my friends use as a meeting place," he replied, "You can rest here."

The cottage wasn't very big. She entered inside with Zamurah and saw a dining room merged with the kitchen on the first floor. There was a sink in the kitchen but it doesn't work. A dusty dining table was present in the dining room. Everything was pretty dusty. She could see a trapdoor that could lead to an unexplored basement on one corner. There were stairs too in another corner which they used to climb up to the bedroom on the top floor. The bedroom was mostly empty with a bed and a few wardrobes containing nothing.

"You can rest here," said Zamurah.

"Thanks," she said as she opened her armor and went to bed.

"I am going to leave now, okay?" asked Zamurah, "My parents must be super worried by now."

"I don't mind," she said, "But can you bring me food? I feel very hungry."

Zamurah slowly waved and put on an awkward smile before leaving without an answer. As soon as he got outside the door, he started running towards his home while getting the phone out of his pocket. He searched for his parents' number and said to himself, "Get food? To a person who can kill me anytime she wants? Being the clumsy person I am, what if I accidentally piss her off? Too much of a risk, thank you. I should rather call Istehad and Rashid and tell them not to go there."

He dialed his mom's number and gave her a call.

"Mom, I am sorry I am late, but I am headed home now. Don't worry," he said.

His mom replied in a choked-up voice, "Zamurah! I am so glad you are safe. Mimi told us everything. Come back home, dear. We went to the police station. Now that you are safe, we will come back too now."

"On it mom," said Zamurah.

He went through the streets he always goes home through. On the way, he saw an old lady. She was as familiar as the street. She always goes home from her shop at that time. But she had a narrow vision which gives her a hard time while crossing the roads.

Zamurah went and helped her out like he always does.

"Thank you, child," she said with a big pleased smile, "You always help the disabled and the injured."

Zamurah forced a smile. "Thank you. Yes. Totally. I would never leave a hungry injured 10 years old girl in a wooden cottage while deciding to never go back."

"What are you talking about?" the old lady asked.

"Nothing."

He went home as fast as he could and let out an air of relief. His mom and dad embraced him and so did his sister. Though it was almost evening, they were just having lunch together while discussing what could the reason for Mimi being targeted and with radar of all things be.

Zamurah's dad wasn't such a rich guy that they would kidnap his kid for money. There are other possibilities including child trafficking, but to track her with radar doesn't make any sense.

But Zamurah wasn't focused on that conversation at all. He was too busy rationalizing his guilt. "Well, it's not like I had much choice. She is life-threatening. Saving your life is compulsory in Islam, right?" he thought to himself.

He quickly finished eating and went to his room. "I will just feel better if I read some Hadiths." He consoled himself.

He opened up the book from where he left and read, Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "When a Muslim visits a sick Muslim at dawn, seventy thousand angels keep on praying for him till dusk. If he visits him in the evening, seventy thousand angels keep on praying for him till the morning; and he will have (his share of) reaped fruits in Jannah."

He smiled with panic and said to himself, "Why did this Hadith have to come up today?"

Then, he consoled himself saying, "Well, I will just miss a huge virtue. But there isn't any punishment, right?"

Then he read another Hadith saying, "On the Day of Resurrection, God the Mighty and Majestic will say: 'O child of Adam! I became sick and you did not visit me!' The person will say, 'O Lord, how can I visit you and you are the Lord of all that Exists!' God will say, 'Did you not know that my slave 'so and so' became sick, and you did not visit him? Did you not know that if you visited him, you would have found me with him?'"

Zamurah gulped and said, "Dang."

After sunset, Dominique woke up and heard some blabbering noises from the first floor. She walked down the stairs while rubbing her eyes to find Zamurah chilling with two other friends. Mimi was sitting there beside Zamurah, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"And there she woke up," said Zamurah, "I brought some food for you, Dom. Along with some bandages and antiseptic to treat your bruises."

"I appreciate the food but the bandages were not necessary. It's dry already," she said.

"So, this is the girl you were talking about," said a boy with almond-shaped eyes below his nearly non-existing eyebrows. His body had an angular build with china-white skin. He had luxurious straight hair. He wore an unbuttoned shirt with a t-shirt inside.

"My name is Istehad. Nice to meet you," he said.

Another boy with round eyes said, "And I am Rashid." He had silky wavy hair and a goofy smile on his face. He was tall and his muscle puffed up the t-shirt he wore.

She ignored the two and looked towards Mimi. "I am more interested in that girl," she said.

"That's Mimi," said Zamurah as Mimi waved her hand with a smile, "She is my little sister."

"How sure are you that she is actually your sister?" Dominique asked.
