Chapter 402 - 402 - 2 stars burning brighter than the world

*

A portal opens up in front of Geravinne, a black slit in space floats above the ground and stretches into an imperceivably dark maw. He felt like something was beckoning him in, he was afraid that in his untransformed state he wouldn't be able to survive what happens on the other side.

A single fair hand stretches out of it, her fingers nimble and supple, they clasped once before opening up as if to accept Geravinne's own palm. He felt like something was beckoning him to take the palm, a wish soaring above the clouds and into the world beyond... It was...

"A god magical girl? What do you want?" (Geravinne)

If she wanted to, she could eliminate Geravinne as easily as breathing. Then perhaps, he might as well take the hand and see what was incoming for himself. At the very least, it didn't feel like a hostile threat, but more of a warm welcome... He grabbed the hand as he spoke and it gently pulled him in in one fell swoop. Her beauty and voice graced his eyes and ears, but if he hadn't seen a similar level of perfection he might have been smitten. His heart was already firmly in place, moreover he has seen many of such beauties before.

"We... We won?!" (Geravinne)

Completely forgetting the fact that he cannot survive at the edge of the world, he broke into a celebratory cheer as the rest began to arrive with portals. Kaori had observed the result of every battle with Himei's help and made portals to bring everyone back. It was a gradual process as she needed to determine the time and space at the end of their battles and synchronised it with her own coordinates. She could do it in a rush with her massive computational capabilities, but just to take it safe she took her time. Now that there was no longer any threat, she could finally relax after all.

Geravinne, Kaori, Ledia, Hikari, HuoLi, Amelia, Himei, and Barius. They all felt their muscles tensed up, cold sweat gathering at their napes as minute shivers assault the pores of their skin. A minor blizzard caressing their thoughts and composure, like a foolish palm tempting fate. Ah... Not again... Not this feeling again... No more...

Ledia despaired, her wishes were about to be violated by an ominous premonition, a never ending nightmare worse than what Kaori had put her through... A tainted and defiled wish, utterly and senselessly stepped on like a frail flower under a stiff boot.

"[Heavens breach the destiny's core(Altar alia)]." (Hikari)

An initial wish against fate, it birthed the enemy to the beginning of beginnings, anti-magic. An evolution achieved via synchronisation and assimilation, it now tears away at fate itself with its own hands. The authority to command magical particles, the magical gene is forcibly stripped from every cell of every enemy, leaving behind nothing but husks. A surprise attack, they had believed that just because Hikari was revived by Ledia's skill, that she would side with them as a result.

They were already mentally and emotionally exhausted from battle, with magical particles taken away from their grasp... They were nothing but sitting ducks. Ledia's skill brought forth the optimal result, there were no casualties from Ledia's side of the battle against the Destroyers. In other words, Hikari's betrayal was unaccounted for...

Rather, it was blatantly ignored to meet the primary objective. Existing outside of one's plans, residing in a realm beyond the ordinary logia. However, none of them died.

"Deterministic, that is the basis of my 'flow'. I do not read from fate, but affirm my own." (Kaori)

A source of uncertainty, one that derives from and affirms fate at the same time. An individual that fights with their all and then more for what they believe in. A faith that transcends magic.

"A new wish, a new beginning. To sate myself and only myself, to sate the world is to sate my own, to protect her world is to fulfill my wish.

An existence that could look from the beyond, a roughshod guardian of my beloved, the earth." (Geravinne)

Under significant threat, a guardian awakens to defend the medium of all life. A dear heartfelt wish that would never be let go. A love beyond the grave and life that was once lived. A crushing transcendance that wouldn't succumb against any resistance.

" The greatest dominion is exactly what it means. Power from the great beyond, the manifestation of incomprehension.

Be crushed under the weight of endless authority. " (Amelia)

She threw everything on the line, even the parts of her that were more precious than her life. Her endearment vanished into nonexistence, her love no longer lay in her heart. She had read the nature of this emptiness that lay dormant inside her heart, using [Revelation]. But it was read, rather than felt. She could never feel that warmth she once cherished, the affection that once soothed her from the memories at the back of her mind.

Her heart was now more mechanical than flesh, but her love was her own. She wouldn't have it any other way, because it was still hers. A treasure that exceeds the bounds that lay within one's mind.

" Haa~ after I kill you, I'll beat the shit out of Kaori too. But if you intend on getting in the way, I suppose this is my only option. Bewarn, everything bends to perfection. " (Barius)

Unyielding, brutality, disaster. Even more so than The Great Disaster, an uncontrollable force that violates all that is natural. Arcane taken to the extreme, antithesis to normality, enemy of reality.

" Once more, [Heavens breach the destiny's core]." (Hikari)

Now that all of the Destroyers were defeated, their titles had nowhere to go. Following the conventional path, they would be incarnated somewhere in another magical girl, in another time space and in another world. However, the titles were all seized by Hikari right as they were defeated, and through her transcendantal biology she incarnated them inside herself. Forcefully creating and merging life was trivial to her, through this utterly abnormal process, she upgraded her skills once more. They bear the same name, but birthed an unidentified phenomenon.

Again, Hikari sends an attack. An attack that would kill anyone in a single hit... If it ever landed. Every hit is blocked by the void, a fissure of emptiness opening up to redirect and neutralise the attack.

Himei wasn't able to determine where the attacks came from, they didn't exist in the future... They didn't exist in the timeline. Just from that information alone... 'Attacks from beyond' should sum it up. At the base of a person's existence, their primarily skill which represents their ego and wishes wouldn't change, unless the core of their existence itself had also changed. The first skill likely remained the same, [Demon King constitution], though it might upgrade as well but retain similar effects.

[Demon King constitution(Existence beyond the centralised frame)]

[Heavens breach the destiny's core(Inherent order violation super phenomenon)]

A being that naturally resides in the beyond, Himei, Ledia, HuoLi and Kaori simply cannot reach her with their attacks. Kaori can block them, but can not reach her true body now. Barius and Amelia can breach the edge and Geravinne herself can wholly exceed it. But as it stood, she was simply a tier above them. There would be no meaning to making an SSS grade distinction, seeing as it was above what was a literal god in the normal world, but perhaps this would be the most fitting to describe such a being. Existing outside the normal frameworks, overturning every concept as naturally as breathing... To gather 8 whole titles from the destroyers, this was the result.

Like an ant fighting an uphill battle with an anteater... An opponent of gargantuan proportions-

"[Hereafter I loft of wish, the fated end thy cataclysm springs]." (Vegaltari)

"[Veritas of justitia: PERMANENT JUSTICE OF AN INVIOLABLE BASTION]." (Barius)

Did you think you were invincible just by running? Barius breaches the veil with her attack of 'perfection', Vegaltari's final skill rides that attack and delivers its effects. The forceful negation of any form of invincibility or immortality via perfectly natural and conditional means. Weaknesses are forced into existence and vulnerabilities are pried open for the world to see. This magic brings Hikari back to the edge of the world and prevents her from running. It materialises her, summons all of her and makes her comprehensible. A confinement of rules and logic, a possibility of death.

Kaori appears on the other side of Hikari, as if there were now two of her. A massive slash mark expanded on Hikari's torso and swallowed her whole, turning her into mincemeat... At least, it was supposed to. The slash itself hadn't done anything, and Kaori's blade was decisively shattered. An affirming show of absolute strength, despite being affected by Vegaltari's final skill, she was still a cut above gods. It made little sense. Theoretically, everyone here had infinite stats. It was impossible to have such a definitive advantage here, yet here they were...

This was likely an effect of Hikari's upgraded primary skill. A large beam of energy swallows her figure, her white hair and black dress torn and sling by the wind like a flag under a terrible storm. Holy lances of pure white strike from every direction, piercing into Hikari at every angle. Himei lands right behind Hikari at the perfect spot, where she wouldn't be hit by the energy beam, and impales Hikari's back with her arm. HuoLi unleashes her End World environment on Hikari, eroding at her being.

But none of it was sufficient. Vegaltari took a back stage role and evacuated, leaving the final battle to be a 7 v 1. Ledia superimposes the edge of the world with her own realm, buffing her allies and giving her enemies debuffs in a last ditch effort. They were practically next to useless, considering the capabilities of everyone present, but she wouldn't underestimate it considering how it had allowed herself to stay alive until now.

The sky grew into a pale blue as a vast grass field expanded into the horizon. It felt like at the end of Ledia's world, there was nothing but a thin beach and a vast endless sea. Here, time and space values fluctuates faster than a God's computational power, obscuring the coordinates of anybody present. Only gods specialised in calculating like Kaori or Himei can decipher the haze that envelopes every bit of detail on Ledia's world. A purposeful advantage meant for Kaori and Himei, allowing them to contribute to the fight.

Hikari... Was perfectly spotless. Not a single dent or wrinkle in her pristine black dress, a one piece meant to mirror Kaori's divine bride outfit. Putting all of her power into computing, Kaori creates another rapier and assigns the location of the target of her attacks. Her blade slashes instantly teleport into her enemy's body, showering Hikari in an unavoidable storm of dimension tearing violence. But she seemed completely fine, an attack capable of erasing one dimension isn't enough, there needed to be more. Even standing at the peak of her own world wasn't sufficient, Kaori needed to exceed that.

Barius coated her body in her final skill, resuming a state of complete 'perfection'. Her body flashed beyond anything before, exceeding her own limit and everyone else's. She lands a devastating kick to Hikari's face, the heel of her foot landed squarely on her nose and caved in her skull. Her head turned into paste and her body fell limply into the void. Kaori's thoughts could only race, she couldn't understand why...

Her heart beat itself faster and faster, agitation rising up her chest and pushing up her chin like a flood of pool water she was standing in, barely keeping her face out of the water's tensionless surface. Amelia appears next to Barius, bringing down a sword of white with gold edges, it sliced cleanly down Hikari's headless body and split her in half. The halves vanished, and a Hikari who was perfectly intact appeared behind them.

"You can try and try. Do as you might, but it is all futile in the end. It is no longer a matter of superiority and inferiority. You will never reach the truth." (Hikari)

Her face was adorned with a tinge of pity, it was closer to the insignificant grief that one might feel seeing their favourite ant die. No matter they did, she would be perfectly fine. This was a predestined result, a prediction that they've already seen come true... In cases like this, the method to defeat them would be to eliminate the concepts that sustain their existence... However Hikari is not made of a single concept, rather she was innumerable and unanalysable.

Unrecognisable, unexplainable. Even if she was made mortal, her magic was still unfathomable. A mystery with no start nor end, a curse for the opponent. They prepared themselves to receive Hikari's onslaught.
