Chapter 389 - 389 - H v H

*

"... Revived from the dead... To save the world?" (Hikari)

"What the hell am I looking at? " (Hikari alternative)

Ahhh... How awful, to have to help these despicable humans after having her species get extinct because of them. Truthfully, is a world without demons... Without her own kind, truly worth it? If she can't inhabit the world, what could she possibly gain from winning here?

"Having second thoughts? You imitation." (Hikari alternative)

"... We seem to be the same person. Rather than an imitator, I can only say that I'm the one who came after you wrecked havoc over the world." (Hikari)

She couldn't reply whether she still had the resolve to fight or not. She was still hesitant. She questioned the meaning of her existence here, she was revived from the dead to be of help, there is no mind control magic working to force her body to move or fight. Everyone who was brought here started moving and fighting of their own will, under the shared purpose of protecting their home. It was something she vitally lacked.

Hikari Alternative launched a fist to which Hikari dodged by shifting her head to the side. Her aura blocked the devastating shock waves that were powerful enough to evaporate a continent and destroy a planet's surface. Why did she survive? Why did she keep herself alive?

"... So you still want to fight after all." (Hikari alternative)

Her identical twin sized her up and down, scrutinising every one of her movements. Was her counterpart really this pathetic? She didn't look ready to battle one bit, but she still put in the effort to dodge her attacks. She looks ready to keel over at any moment out of shame, yet she continues on standing. The answer to it all was so simple, Hikari alternative said it herself. Hikari still wanted to fight. Did the reason matter so much that she must dwell on it?

That depended on the individual. Some people didn't need a reason to fight, people may call them battle maniacs or muscle brained. Kaori gets into fights so often that she gets conflated with these individuals. The other type needs a reason, whether it be a strong or weak reason didn't really matter. As long as there was something going for them, they would get their hands dirty. Good or bad, Hikari needed a reason. An explanation for her own wishy washy behaviour.

Her indecision irritated herself and her current opponent, strangely enough her opponent was giving her the courtesy to sort things out first. She hasn't really given it her all or use any skills yet. Just some simple punches and kicks to get her body moving. Then she needed to honour it by coming up with a reason quick... She finally focused her gaze on her opponent, a familiar cheeky grin rested on her cheeks. Those who are here must have destroyed their own worlds and others, how could she possibly be happy having annhiliated her own home?

Immediately after revival, Hikari knew that she obliterated her own kingdom and subjects... She obviously regretted it a lot. She hated her citizens and their greed, as well as their will to live. But as much as she hated them, she also couldn't part with her role as their king, she felt like she was born to be their ruler and had the obligation as one. It was all mixed feelings, royalty has been consistently passed down her ancestry without deviating once, so several of her ancestors were killed by the citizens, leaving a grudge inside her heart.

Every Demon King was forced to live with this contradiction, this scourge of their life. But now, even her citizens are gone. Both of them had roughly such a circumstance, so why could the other still find happiness?

"... I see what you're going through... I assure you, we're different. The rest is for you to figure." (Hikari alternative)

We're different? How are we different? What is the defining measure for it? Hikari walks forward, slightly angered in her forward leaning stride. Why does she still want to fight? Why does she still want to live? What did living allow her to do that she couldn't do while dead? These were all cursory questions her mind had given her, but at the root of it all, it was obvious that she still wanted to do something, an underlying desire that would never leave no matter how many times she died. One could say it was an unresolved attachment, akin to a spirit of the dead being tied to the earth.

It was the very same mission she had from the start, nothing has changed. So why did she think she had changed? Just because she was summoned from the dead by Ledia? Just because she has way more enemies in the form of God magical girls now? What did all of her resolve amount to in the end? One defeat and that's it? Obviously not! She'll beat her other self here, kill all the other God magical girls and revive the demon species.

"[Demon King constitution], land of my love, will of her heart. Demon God revival, Euclidia Aevilli." (Hikari)

With [Disaster(True awakened)], she enhanced [Demon King constitution] to revive the embodiment of her castle. A Demon King naturally comes with her castle, this was the aspect of [Demon King constitution] that she used to revive her. The collective will and spirit of demon kind was something that belonged to the world, so the end world environment from HuoLi naturally got rid of her after some hard resistance, it was impossible for Aevilli to stop the process of ending her onw existence entirely, but what she could do was to delay it to the point that it was infinitely away from ending, that's why it took much effort from HuoLi to break down this resistance.

Without [The Great Disaster(True awakened)] to give her the stats of a God, she wouldn't be able to revive Aevilli otherwise, seeing as she would only have an S grade quantity of magic to work with. But without that limitation, her castle has finally returned. Within this gray realm, a vertical piece of land the size of a continent rises from behind Hikari, if it was in the normal world it would have blocked out the sun and shown up on satellite feed.

But the person in question stood in front of the vertical land. She was hooded like before, and yet again she was able to materialise despite the physical castle being directly behind her. The castle was her shadow, and she was the castle's true body. Two sweet and simple horns poked out of her hood, underneath and hidden by the darkness of her cloak was a black body suit with numerous patterns and embroidery akin to a military uniform. A smooth velvety material covered her top and white rope like material lining the centre and pockets.

Below her top she wore a black leather belt and mini skirt, with fully covering tights and high boots. Dressed head to toe in black, she was practically hidden inside her own tanned brown hood and cloak. Back then, Hikari had become that giant wave of flesh that consumed everything in its path, given a few more seconds it would have taken a continent than the planet, if not for the resistance of the other magical girls around.

Amelia had made a deal with her to distract the Dragon God if she could negate her fate of never being together with Camellie ever again. She would have used [Disaster(imitation)] to make it malfunction, but the chance never arrived since she lost. Regardless Amelia had betrayed humanity, it wasn't something anyone could sweep under the rug.

"... That loser spared me once... Allowing me to activate my final skill... How humiliating.

Aevilli, let's go." (Hikari)

"I'll show you the difference between a fake and the genuine article." (Hikari Alternative)

Their figures vanish with the castle behind them. Hikari zooms in and hits Alter's front with a forward hook. Alter blocks it with her left arm and delivers a kick that smashes into her jaw. Aevilli arrives behind and slams her leg into Alter's cheek at the same time, sending her flying away. Hikari returns from the opposite direction, throwing another right hook. Once again, her punch was blocked but Aevilli appears to give Alter even more trouble. Alter sends her leg high up, parrying Aevilli's attack, then she swings her right arm to block Hikari's next punch. With the same momentum, she slams her right arm which rebounds from Hikari's knuckles and into Aevilli's face, sending her flying. Hikari swings a wide kick at that moment, smashing it into Alter's torso, caving in her liver and ribs.

"WELL? WHAT WERE YOU GONNA SHOW ME? LOOKS LIKE AEVILLI HERE COULD BEAT YOU ON HER OWN!" (Hikari)

Her voice soared into the endless grey skies, her body felt so fired up that she couldn't help but shout with her full chest. It felt like her body was moving on its own, the adrenaline was flowing aplenty and her muscles kept moving at infinite speeds. Was this how the gods always felt in battle? She was afraid that she might fall into the abyss if this high during a fight. It was swallowing her right up, a constant upward edge towards greatness, she kept growing infinitely stronger yet her mind retained its clarity and wit. It was like falling upwards without any resistance or control.

She rushed forward, her fist lands square on Alter's who was trying to mitigate her attack with an equal force, but Hikari's hits a second time in the same spot. She was slightly faster, enough to fit a second attack. The gap in speed and strength was closing up, but Alter clearly felt her bones creak and her blood vessels burst from the force coursing through her body. Aevilli appears from above to slam her foot onto Alter's skull, but was dodged at the last moment before she launched a single wide sweeping kick to hit both Hikari and Aevilli away. It's not like Alter stayed static the whole, time wouldn't stop growing stronger or risk her life for a petty reason like 'underestimating' her opponents.

Alter was a serious individual who would meticulously measure her opponent's strength and be assured she could defeat them before fighting them. Her figure vanished, slamming multiple punches into Hikari which was reciprocated. Their knuckles smash into each other relentlessly and when Aevilli got close, Alter stepped closer to Hikari and let one of the punches impale her, before gripping Hikari's arm and swung it at Aevilli. Aevilli's attack arrived in time and her arm impaled Hikari's heart whose body was made to be a shield.

Alter's own body healed up, everyone's did. But the impact she made wouldn't be forgotten. She lightly flicked her left wrist, slamming another hook of Hikari's towards the ground, before punching a cross that smashed into Aevilli's high kick, deflecting it. Another fist flew from Hikari which smacked Alter right in the chin, but she held her ground and stayed in the same position, tanking it. Smoke wafted away from her cheek as Hikari's knuckles left and she pulled back some distance away.

Blood and fighting spirit soaring into the skies and then into space, it reaches a zenith unwitnessed by any. Hikari leaps in and throws multiple punches in a row. Alter throws back some in return to deflect all of them, but the shock waves generated from Hikari's slightly superior strength is shaving away at Alter's skin, causing continuous bleeding sporadically.

Hikari then smashes her forehead into one of the fists, enduring it to free on of her arms to strike from under, smashing into Alter's elbow before barraging her with powerful kicks. Aevilli arrives from behind Alter to send her knee into her, puncturing her back and spine for Hikari to return another barrage. The both of them sent a storm of punches into Alter's body, tenderising every part of her flesh and bone. Alter flitted back and forth like a ragdoll, spewing blood out of her throat as she took on those universe destroying attacks.

Across a certain point of being God magical girl, a punch would be all it took to end the world, though some corrective laws of the universe might inhibit that.

"[Heavens breach the destiny's core]. Don't get so cocky, the world itself is changed, and within it the event now has a different outcome." (Hikari Alternative)

At this point, all parties were well and fine, standing apart only a few mere metres away. From getting beaten up, Alter had changed the event to 'her surviving the assault without any damage'. Initially it should have changed to 'her attaining victory', but Hikari activated [Demon King constitution].

"You're still standing... Tch!" (Hikari alternative)

"Looks like my dominion eclipses yours." (Hikari)

They were both of the demon species, naturally they could command each other as the 'Demon King', and Hikari's command was to reduce the impact of Alter's event changing.
