Her arm was coated with pulsing white magic, coursing through repeatedly to induce more psychological effects on Terrence. With [Blessing], his heart has been permanently destroyed. He may be barely alive and didn't need the help of his heart to supply oxygen to his body, but his lack of oxygen circulation will consume more magical particles as a substitute for oxygen.
"Urghhhhh!!!!!!!! [Fell... My gracious.. Avenue.]" (Terrence)
In a fit of rage at Amelia's remarks, he casted his magic over the entire space around them, taking control over the whole of the wedding site. With an A grade's well, they had enough magic to blow up a country, so covering this venue with his skill was paltry in comparison. But in a fight between two high grades, most of that explosive power is directed towards each other instead of towards the city.
The whole building begins to shake, objects began to float aimlessly... Was the initial impression. But everything was slowly gravitating towards Amelia, with everything aimed to hit her at the same time, the closer objects travelled slower than the objects that were further. In the next moment, heaven and earth tried to crash into her, but [Blessing] kicked in and all of it hit Terrence instead.
Camellie survived the destruction and explosive power of all the debris rushing at Terrence, but the debris began compressing even further to crush Terrence. Before it all exploded, releasing his figure. He had casted his skill once more to reverse what happened, shooting everything backwards into their initial position.
Amelia mistook the explosion for an attack, and her [Blessing] wasn't able to block it. It had only accidentally injured them, but it nonetheless carved some of their flesh out as all the matter flew back and rebuilt the entire building with the 3 back inside. There were innumerable cracks in the surface of every wall, floor and object, but they somehow held themselves together as if nothing had happened, it was Terrence's magic that adhered them to their original state.
The two vanished from the spot to Terrence's fright, but he regained his calm and anticipated their attacks. He can only alter destiny that he can clearly observe, but if he can't even find the two then he cannot do anything. He accelerates, going as fast as possible, the other 2 began phasing into his perception. At this high level of speed that normal humans or low tier magical girls cannot observe, they had to accelerate just to locate each other. The two cooperated and attacked at once, Amelia threw her fist while Camellie swung her foot.
Terrence blocked both with his arms, but his flesh was crushed by the force of their attacks, [Blessing] crippled one of his arms. He began to dodge instead, knowing his body was unable to block in this condition. If he was completely well, he would have been able to block the double team, but his heart was crushed and now his arm too. He had already used about 30% of his Well, he needed to be conservative with his magic consumption, but he also needed to survive.
Memorising their attack patterns as the pair kept launching more attacks, he swung a punch at Amelia, allowing it to purposely miss due to [Blessing]. It swerved his body to the side so that he could miss, then he used that momentum to turn around and swing his leg entirely, smashing it into Camellie's face while blocking Amelia with his leg. If he attacked, it will be registered as an attack by Amelia and cause the auto dodge or auto deflection. But Amelia is usually the one moving towards him in an attempt to hit him with an attack, so it comes down to auto deflection.
It was like a free way to confuse the enemy. Though it must be used carefully, or it will end up like his own skill that made Amelia get stuck in the ceiling. The auto deflection might cause his own attack to hit him instead. Most of all... Camellie only just transformed and Amelia didn't seem to be losing much magic in her Well due to the amateur application of her own magic... She could hit way harder and above her own weight, but she wasn't acclimatised enough to use more of her magic.
"Amelia... His magic changes destiny of whatever he wants, the larger the target and change, the larger the consumption of his magic, so there are still limits.
It's because he uses it on the economy which is considered 'city scale' that he has such deep ties to the government, he was offering his service as a 'good omen for the economy'.
At the same time, only being 'city-scale' allows him to fly under the radar or purview of S Grades, they don't see him as a threat or unlawful individual, so no one has taken any action. " (Camellie)
" Haa~ haa~ then we'll do it. We'll take him down, crush him to bits and anyone else coming after us.
You hear that Terrence? I won't spare you, and I won't spare anyone in your family. Your bloodline will end with you." (Amelia)
He didn't respond. He understood that it was all provocation and methodically kept his calm while analysing his enemies for weakness. They were all standing relatively still, staring at each other without blinking once. It was the calm before the storm. His figure vanished first, striking a powerful punch that didn't pale to Amelia's, his fist didn't get damaged so [Blessing] couldn't do anything to it. Camellie rushed after him, but he continued his assault on Amelia.
He swung his leg high into the air, forcing her to dodge backwards, then he swung it around to his back, knocking Camellie into the wall nearby. Then he leapt again to dodge Amelia's attack before arriving behind Amelia to throw a powerful left jab. His thoughts blazed past the speed of his perception, allowing him to carefully consider every factor in battle. He was pushing past his limits, in other words his battle high had arrived. His body only moved faster and faster, surpassing his normal self despite being a heart and an arm short.
Amelia flew into the air at unimaginable speeds, while Camellie who had finally got off the wall swung her leg at the back of Terrence. Terrence who could read that attack, spun his waist and swung his left elbow into her leg, smashing it into an unnatural V-shape. Amelia returned in time, throwing out a right hook with her entire body's strength and momentum, this time Terrence who matched the attack couldn't push her back, forcing them into a stalemate.
Amelia pulled back and ducked low, dodging the blow and stepping closer to shorten the distance between them. She then blocked Terrence's right kick and caught his left fist aiming for her face with her left arm in quick succession before launching her right fist into his face. She had also achieved her own battle high, moving faster than anything she had ever done before, while Terrence began to slow down as he ignored his injuries for quite some time. His body wasn't able to regenerate due to [Blessing], it was perfect for healing herself while permanently damaging her enemies, making attrition the worse possible way to fight her.
Her fist smashed into his nose and continued pushing into his skull, sending cracks through the entire thing whole pulverising his flesh into a blended mess. Her blow busted his face and knocked him straight into the ground, causing the wedding site to rumble. He was blind and [Blessing] had cursed him to be blind for the rest of his life. He lifted his body in agony and desperation and threw a left hook, only for Amelia to dismember his left arm and leave it permanently crippled as well. With no arms and no eyes, he should have no hope left.
She was planning to leave him here and allow him to live eternally in agony, kept alive by his own magic but... She heard a few deep chuckles as she began to walk towards Camellie at a short distance away. She dismissed it as a mad man's last ditch effort and rushed to hold Camellie's hand. With a bright smile with a beauty like nothing Camellie ever gazed upon before, she announced her presence with pure elation.
"I'm back!" (Amelia)
Camellie began to fade into thin air in front of her eyes. She mouth a few words before vanishing.
".... Huh? W-w-what?" (Amelia)
"Fufufufufu, fuhaHAhaHAHAH?! Your [Blessing] was so annoying to deal with! It kept disrupting the destiny I placed on you! So I placed all of those attacks indirectly!
You who have profess your fate to be one and the same with Camellie's, allowed me to change your destiny by targeting Camellie with my magic!
Last but not least! I placed this destiny on you, to never be able to be with the one you love! Even if your [Blessing] can revive the dead by defying destiny, you cannot defy a destiny you cannot perceive the location of yourself! A geographical limit of miracles, similar to my own perception limit in altering destiny! Carried out via reincarnation. Camellie's soul has been completely reborn somewhere else, in a place you would never find until it's too late. There is nothing you can do, there was nothing you could do. Despair!!!!! " (Terrence)
" UAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!! " (Amelia)
Consumed by grief and madness, she pumped her body full of [Blessing] with the rest of her well. This time she was punching above her weight class, with all the strength she could appropriately wield with her level of power. Blessed by countless miracles, her fists have the ability to level cities without effort and bring countries or even continents asunder. Her fist shining brightly with light that could turn night into morning strikes into Terrence's face as fast as possible, with that his teeth and jaw shattered into paste and evaporated.
"Agh!" (Terrence)
The resulting wind pressure alone crushed his throat and shut his screams off halfway. But she didn't plan to stop after one punch, after all her tears haven't stopped yet. She threw another, then another. Punching in the same location, reducing Terrence's mouth and gullet beyond paste. Each of her strikes caused an earthquake in the city that day, but under the shock of her loss she couldn't feel any of it. She threw another one and then another one, there was no end. Because someone she had been together with since childhood, someone she was so close with that she yearned for their presence almost everyday... Was gone. They wouldn't come back no matter how much she struck.
She didn't want to lose Camellie no matter what, she wanted to protect her life and be with her even if just a little more. She wanted to talk to her more, ask her about her favourite food, her favourite places to walk around, her favourite show that they could watch together... She wanted to celebrate each other's birthdays again this year, discuss which university either of them were going to, video call each other in their dorms... Give surprise visits and hangout for a day... There was so much more she wanted to do, but no chance to do so.
... Someone who had always been there for her was now gone. Where should these tears go? Where should her grief, her despair, her disappointment, and her failure go? There was nowhere else but the stupid corpse in front of her isn't it? She had punched his jaw so many times, the top half of his head was separated from his body, but he was kept alive by [Blessing]. Anything below the neck was disconnected from his magical girl augmentation and had already turned into red vapour from the shock waves of Amelia's punches
From now on he could not see, speak nor smell. He can only hear, feel the sensation on the skin on his temples and forehead, and felt the burning pain under his brain. She has dictated that he will live with this pain for the rest of eternity, unable to voice out his thoughts but able to hear others due to [Blessing], unable to die nor live due to [Blessing]. The fact that he was still alive was a miracle, considering that she punched his spinal cord until it was no longer there. An A grade magical girl could handle being decapitated, but that was under the condition that they immediately healed their decapitation injury.
She still remembered her warmth. The sensation of victory slipping from her grasp, Camellie's body heat dissipating into the air as if to say it was all a dream. Amelia has no faith that she would ever find anyone as wonderful as Camellie, nor did she want to. Camellie was undeniable an irreplaceable existence. She was too shocked to read what Camellie had mouthed out as she vanished into thin air, but almost as if hearing her voice, she still heard the words her heart whispered.
"Life is hard, be happy." (Camellie)
