Magical girls... How could anyone believe in such a ludicrous thing... But what would be the point in making such an abstract lie? The world continues to revolve about its usual axis, wherein the truth bares itself forth... Perhaps it was a quirk of hers that helped her substantially in her studies, she was able to easily rationalise new concepts. The fact that magical girls exist wouldn't be the first or last thing that she'll grasp with ease.
Even so, even with such a threat looming over her neck... She believed it was something worth fighting for with her life. If there were such powerful magical girl families serving the government, surely there would be enemies, individuals that would aid her in resistance... But she didn't know where to find such people, and before she knew it, she was amongst the seated in the wedding ceremony.
Her memories flashed by, her thoughts took precedent. Based on some wild but reliable assumptions... She had sorted out a plan that did not require magic to attain victory. She abused all of her intellect for this goal, draining day and night to forge the perfect moment. It was now after the third year of high school, they had both graduated and the marriage was about to be officiated. In her 2 years of living after meeting Terence, she was texted to through a messenging app, it read 'Don't search for them, they will know'. It was a warning from Camellie. Her offline efforts didn't yield much either, she then focused on her studies while continuing her search for allies on the side.
This was worth fighting for, it was worth risking her life for. A happy ending... She couldn't foresee such a thing, so she will at least let Camellie be happy... By eliminating Terrence's family. If eloping was impossible under the eyes of their families, then the only option left was to eliminate them.
She wore a dark blue dress with frills lining her collar and the edges of her puffy sleeves. She cut a striking figure, yet was able to easily keep a low profile throughout. She approached the wedding couple with relative ease, not even Camellie had noticed her. She was not a magical girl, she had no magic to speak of, for the 2 in question to sense. And so, silent as a rock... She slipped a knife out of her sleeve and stabbed Terrence in the lower back. She then wrapped some cloth around his mouth to drown out his screams, his cries go unheard in the chaotic cacophony of the venue's fervour for this event. She had paid off some of his friends and some random guests to keep their silence.
Looking at Camellie, there was nothing but shock on her face. Amelia could only return a passionate smile. She wonders if love between them was impossible after all. Now that she killed Terrence, the rest of his family would be far more wary... A burst of light hits the ceiling, a unfamiliar girl appears from that pillar of fading light, a knife stuck in her back. She glared at Amelia with ferocity, her wound healing rapidly. Camellie knew this would happen... It was the worst possible situation she could envision...
The mysterious girl that showed up was in all black, with a cloak, a 2 piece suit, and a skirt. Her tights were black, and her hair was a mellow brunette that seemed to compete with the sun's beauty. As a magical girl, she was augmented far above anything humans could possibly achieve in their life time. Even the reaction speed of a person could be eclipsed thousands of times over. That was the absolute difference in capability between human and magical girl.
So with a single slap, she had expected a cloud of blood to impact the floor. However...
... A burst of light submerged the entire room in blinding pristine white, a nun habit peaks out of the sphere of light surrounding Amelia's body. The excess brightness in the room fades away to reveal the white sphere coating Amelia, reminiscent of the sun's radiance. Her fingers pale like chiseled marble penetrates the surface of the sphere, before the sphere shatters like glass and dissipates into the air, almost as if none of that had happened.
Terrence's slap had missed, an early application of [Blessing] had activated, causing it to miss entirely. Amelia awakened with all of her stats at A grade, so she wouldn't lack behind anyone strong. Yet she entirely didn't need to match up against anyone. Again, and again. Terrence launched punch after punch, then a kick. No matter how much he fought with all of his might, it felt like the world was working against him as it swerved his limbs far into the air.
As opposed to his efforts, a single grab and swing from Amelia threw his body in the ground, sending webs of cracks seeping into the venue floor. Recovering from the blindness, the other visitors witness the signs of wreckage before devolving into a state of chaos. The screams spread throughout the wedding site like a tsunami, riling up the others who were further away and sent everyone into confusion.
It was a wave that no one could stop, and the visitors would only continue to run and scream down to the last individual. With Terrence's power, he could kill them all down to the last person and cover it up with his political strength. But even then, he understood the threat before him, he could not afford to look away from Amelia. Meanwhile, Camellie couldn't react properly, she simply stared forward with a staggered expression and slacked jaw. The only reason Terrence's family could only rule the local government... Despite being grade A... Was due to the existence of others. Even in modern society, the ones who ruled at the very top were S grades, with SS solely residing in legends.
But Amelia was awakened as an A grade at the very start, the highest a person could reach instantly from the beginning... She was practically destined to climb to S grade and possibly even above... She posed as an existential threat to everything his family had built up for the past few generations. He held in his arrogance and shame, reigning in all of his emotions to concentrate on a single task of utmost importance. He understood that letting Amelia go now would be tantamount to suicide, allowing the threat to grow into uncontrollable proportions.
Now she was at her weakest, A graded with no concept of knowledge of magical girls and how they fought. Not to mention the apparatus by which his family has been controlling or threatening the government with... His skills which had been roughly passed down.
"... I can't let you off. The others, I could identify and hunt down later, but you..." (Terrence)
There were no more words. His physical attacks weren't working, so it was time he used them. His skills. He liberated his centre of balance, letting himself fall into the clasp of gravity, but... When he fell, he instead leapt at a ludicrously low angle, practically walking along the air with the ground as a wall to his side. In one leapt, he reached behind Amelia and rose into the air with his back muscles.
This encroachment was more of a scare tactic, he was going to dodge all of Amelia's attacks at the last moment in order to demoralise her. His actual attack consisted on using his skill itself on her... He takes her inertia. She loses balance, but she can't manoeuvre along the ground as well as he does. So she fell in a precarious position. In the present, Amelia has not truly grasp the concept of magical girls yet, she could easily fend off physical attacks with [Blessing] which materialises miracles she can comprehend, but if she is not even aware of what the enemy's attacks are, how could she visualise a miracle to avoid it?
She isn't used to the presence and sensation of magical particles, she can't automatically fend it off yet. But it isn't impossible for her to make progress in this aspect, in fact as an A grade she should have a talent in it with a high will stat. Sensing magic should become so second nature that it is as normal as breathing... So natural that she wouldn't even notice it consciously without someone telling her. In other words, informing her is all it takes to mess up any possible tactical advantage Terrence could have.
Fallen, Amelia did her best to get up as fast as she could by hopping off the ground with her legs alone, this shot her off into an undesirable angle, smashing her head into the ceiling. She couldn't control her strength well and abruptly like Terrence did, she had to get used to her body. Terrence used his skill, her head felt like it was lodged into the ceiling and her neck felt hung over the debris she made. Her head was stuck and she was being hanged from that position.
Surely she could no longer dodge anything more? But Terrence understood the nature of Amelia's magic, it was more like a phenomenon that increased her luck or changed her fate, but in practice, it was automatic dodging or deflection of attacks. Even if he punched her in the gut now, he would miss and hit the ceiling, freeing Amelia from this predicament. So he had to use his magic instead to do damage. This was not his usual style, usually he would outpunch the opponent and use his magic to supplement the battle by making his opponents disoriented or face some sort of disadvantage.
So he wasn't used to this either, but his skill was more versatile than a mere debuff. Applying it over his body... He released a left cross with his entire body weight and might. His fist lands squarely on Amelia's torso and rips off her entire lower half, bisect ing her body. Camellie looked on in horror, colour drained from the skin on her face. All of this had happened in less than a second, even for the individuals involved it was quite fast. For a moment Amelia was holding her own, then she fell onto the ground and jumped onto the ceiling, hanging herself, finally Terrence punched her hip off her body.
Gritting her teeth, Camellie held in her fear and anger. It felt like the world was crashing in on her as her emotional weights pressed against her cranium like a pressure aiming to crush her head to pulp. Her mind resists, the build up of frustration and despair over her own situation for an entire week, waiting for this awful fateful day...looking at it objectively, was it really worth it to live on without Amelia? If her love could fight for her life like this, shouldn't she be doing the same? What would any of it be for if either of them were gone?
She transformed and charged in, her aquamarine dress with transparent sheets hanging above like curtains contain countless sparkles. Her dress was sleeveless and extended over her shoulders with two light strings that stretched to the centre of her chest in a V-shape. A small crown rest atop her head, her hair had turned light grey, almost as if she had turned old, yet her youthful complexion indicated otherwise. Her leg swerved as she slid towards Terrence before spinning mid air and smashing her leg into his body. Terrence used his magic and caused her to miss her target.
Then he spat out blood, he turned his head down to see an arm jutting out of his chest before he blacked out. Amelia had recovered in the time Camellie charged, and she snuck behind him to give his due parting. Smoke was wafting from her leg, in a quick succession of attacks, Amelia plunged her fist into Terrence and high kicked his head. Bits of his skin and flesh had split off and splattered across the ground, but his skull eyes and blood vessels were still there.
"You should have gone for the head first, with my awareness of you due to your impalement attack, I changed destiny with [Fell my gracious avenue]." (Terrence)
The battle only lasted for a few more moments, regardless of whether he survived, Amelia had done critical and unreversible damage.
" I defy your destiny with all my flesh and soul, the [Blessing] of time's past the veil of redemption." (Amelia)
Why was she wearing a nun's habit? Why was this her magical girl form? Seriously... What gave God or whoever the great idea that she was a divine woman? Who's sick idea was it... When she was so far from it... She was a lazy person, a being of sloth. She had lived her life going along with its flow, never resisting much...
So now. She will resist.
