She plunged her body into Veil, ready to lift infinity while enduring its endless pressure, it was heavier than any number of universe's and only continued to grow heavier. At this point, there was no way to conceptualise its weight other than simply saying that... Ledia was attempting the impossible. She poured all of her being, all of her magic into it, as if she was stretching her fingers across the width of the entire universe and to cover the entirety of the Veil with her own strength.
"UUUOOOOOOGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Ledia)
She screamed until her voice broke and her soul cried soundlessly in her stead, the pressure hammered into her head like a migraine but felt more like someone dropped an atomic bomb on her head. Her combat dress and flesh was still being shredded apart by the Veil despite being built back stronger than before, then... Kaori dropped a few more of the same Veil into the same space, amplifying it even more until it caught up to Ledia.
But Ledia took all of it and continued to pour her entire being into it. Every single one of her cells was being split apart, her eyeballs were gouged and blinded once more, her tongue and skin dissolved under the pressure along with her bones and flesh, like an organic soup of cytoplasm and countless nutrients from the human body. But this was no matter! Regardless of how many times she was physically torn apart, she won't ever give up as long as her mind still holds coherent thought. As long as she can still pour more of her being and dedicate her strength, she will surpass this via brute force as a show of power against Kaori alternative.
Her body dissolved... Then rebuilt itself. Again and again, the cycle perpetuates itself, both sides grow stronger as the moments pass, but... The black pillar of light exists due to it being a vacuum in a volume of space that lacked any visible light as it prevented any of its light from reaching the eyes of viewers. Speaking closely, there was no energy in the Veil other than magical energy supplied by Kaori alternative to fuel its existence, there's nothing but pressure and a vacuum there to dissolve her foes into the consistency of air.
Then... If she cuts off this flow of magic needed to maintain its existence... To stop the Veil from growing stronger... No, she can do one better. She can change the flow to her instead! Maintaining the rate at which the magic was flowing out, but extending the channel to her own body... The Veil begins to tremble vigorously... Kaori alternative felt like something was off... But the flow of magic was normal... Yet her Veil seemed almost as if it was weakening...
Then without a moment later, the Veil was flung far into the sky. It seemed to fly without pause, as if it was a rocket penetrating the boundary of space. Kaori looked on at Ledia in wary prudence, her expression had never been so serious before. She must have found Ledia a threat now that she was no longer at the level of a newbie...
She took on the Veil as inspiration, her own attacks cannot be similarly deflectable... Her weary body forced itself upright in the void, facing far off into the distance around the length of the observable universe away... She gazed straight at Kaori, her battered body lifts her right arm and points her finger at Kaori. Her body was entirely exhausted from that episode, but her mind remained refreshed.
Of course, she could always fuel her body with more magic energy when needed. But the issue was never her specs she supposed. It had always been a problem with her mind, getting stuck behind a wall, her only weapon being her primary skill to manipulate energy. As cool as it sounded, everyone here could use magical energy and conjure energy beams of destruction. She wasn't special in anyway, even though she tried to use her one unique ability to convert energy into different forms, creating her virtual world, it was easily torn apart who vaguely knew it existed.
It was literally smokes and mirrors, easy to blow away and shatter in the exact same manner... Ah she sees it now, the core of her being. The single underlying reason why everything is tied together to a singularity, to her reason for even being here. She's normal, she's been thinking as such for a very long time. There was nothing she could do about it, and she didn't have the energy to complain or moan about it either. Then what was so special about this fact? Where was the contention within all this? It was... Quite foolish to have needed to come this far just to realise something so simple, something so normal yet laughable. Even the reasoning is incredibly ordinary, maybe insultingly so.
The whole reason why she even bothered to fight, even though she didn't believe Kaori that she was some sort of chosen one meant to save the world, she still had some subconscious urge to be special. To break out of the shell that was her ordinary life now that she had the chance to do so, to extend her power beyond her usual self and grow into something new and special... She wanted to be better than everyone else...
Ah... Now this was a feeling so normal she immediately recognised it. Envy. She simply wanted to be as powerful, no she wanted to surpass everyone else here. Kaorivs words had unexpectedly stayed with her the entire time, causing her to be more fixated on her stupid prophecy more than she was supposed to should she actually be indifferent to the baseless claim that she was the key to saving the universe... Her words still gave some expectations to Ledia, expectations that she would grow stronger than everyone here should the prediction by Kaori come true...
"HAHAHA HA?! WHAT THE HELL HAVE I BEEN DOING ALL THIS TIME?" (Ledia)
She choked out a hearty guffaw, she wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a soliloquy or a reflection on her own part, but it was all the same to her nonetheless. Her heart raced faster and faster, her mind churned out at full speed, searching to the answers her heart could never find. Of course there was only one thing left to do here, and that was to fight! In a split instant, both figures vanished to meet in the middle. In Ledia's palm held the center of a cross, to be specific, it was like a curved diamond shaped blade of energy held inbetween her bleeding fingers.
Her thoughts flew faster than the speed of light, she pulled back the cross blade in her arm and swung it once more, parrying the next rapier slam. Kaori tended to like slamming her rapier like a whip, since she couldn't conceive it ever breaking she liked to abuse it in ways rapiers shouldn't be used, not that it mattered since it was one of the strongest weapons here.
Her cross blade still operated under the phenomenon of 'resolution spark', but this time it was applied continuously to keep on matching the opponent's level of power, conjuring just enough energy to match the opponent and how much is needed to kill them. But since she was using it in a battle between weapons, it was matching the durability and destructive capability of the rapier. It was hard for Ledia to force her magic to keep growing in power, so she's always been using her opponent as a frame of reference to copy.
Alright, all she has to do was to keep going. Spinning the cross blade, she warded off 2 swings from the rapier before throwing her own swing. Kaori steps on the flat of the cross and onto her fingers gripping the core of the cross blade, then she swung her rapier at her neck... Only to be met with a second cross blade conjured at the last moment. Ledia's left arm had been free the whole time. With both hands armed, she spun the cross in her left and was met with another rapier... The both of them had decided to duel wield.
Kaori's figure vanished once more, followed by Ledia, strangely enough it was now much easier for Ledia to follow her movements. As if the information was directly fed into her mind... Ahh... The quantity of energy can also be used as information, she was subconsciously picking up such information from the surroundings to gauge Kaori's next move. Kaori similarly was reading her opponent's moves with her own magic.
A single rapier was swung from overhead only to be met with a similar swing from a cross blade, Ledia swung her other cross blade into Kaori's torso and was parried by her rapier. But the rush didn't stop there, Ledia side stepped and swung at her feet, though Kaori jumped and swung her leg for a devastating kick against Ledia's jaw, knocking her far into the distance.
Kaori caught up to her and swung both rapiers at once to combine the strength of both arms, Ledia similarly caught the attack with both arms, and swung her arms outwards to break the attack, then leapt closer to Kaori s chest with her cross blades in position. Her right cross blade swung up, missing Kaori's neck by a small margin and cut up her jaw. Ledia then swung her left cross blade into Kaori's torso with a straight thrust, only for Kaori to jump back, dodging it entirely. But her rapier could extend, so she thrusted it forward as well, only to be blocked firmly by the cross blade.
Kaori jumped closer, adding her momentum into her blade to hopefully penetrate the cross blade further and fragment it, a crack spreads across the crossblade with the rapier firmly inside it. The cross blade, falling apart, was discarded by using it as a foothold. Ledia slammed a single foot on it and vanished in the next moment, having thrown herself behind Kaori. She swung her right crossblade and collided it against a rapier, Kaori shoved one of her rapiers behind her and protected her back at the last moment.
At once, both figures vanished once more. When they reappeared, Ledia had slammed down her cross blade, Kaori ignoring its shorter range skewers Ledia in the waist with one rapier and slices off her head with the other, but the cross blade explodes and burns away Kaori's flesh at the same time down to the hips. Kaori regenerating first by a slight margin, stretched her newly formed arms towards Ledia's neck. Ledia's head snapped forward like a puppet and she swung her leg as hard as she could, decapitating Kaori. But Kaori's body continued to move nonetheless and strangled Ledia before snapping her neck.
Their bodies and heads fell separately, before finally regenerating to full form. Kaori reappeared closer, her rapier swung from a low angle and curved up exponentially like a graph, encroaching towards Ledia's head. Ledia swung her a newly materialised cross blade towards the rapier blade from the side with all her strength, then forced it to erupt, burning off a layer of Kaori's skin off to reveal her fleshy pink muscles over her limbs and face.
"Haa~[Cursed Idealism impales a maidens heart, rot rotation demise Omnia Interit]." (Kaori)
Her first and second skill was roughly the same, but her final skill differed... The final skill was the full potential and being of one's life, it was the peak that represented their highest ambition. Only by reaching one's very limit in life will they unlock their final skill. Thus, it was normal for Ledia to have unlocked her skills so much quicker relatively...
She is an ordinary person who might not have awakened if not for extraordinary circumstances, she didn't awaken despite losing her home in The Great Disaster... The only condition that could shock her enough to activate her magic gene was the death of her mother... As such, she unlocked her final skill faster because compared to those meant to be magical girls... Her full potential was much lower... Hence their relative uselessness as well...
Then, the Kaori who met a different end in a different world... What was her peak? If it was the Ledia before, she might have cowered a bit and felt shivers down her spine. But this Ledia had already begun her own path, facing her envy head own with brute strength. She raises her fist, ready to face the new challenge.
