Chapter 300 - 300 - lightless passion of an illuminating will

*

"TSSSS!!!!!" (Huo Li)

For a brief moment her augmentations were disrupted, the natural pain depressors were temporarily down. It was enough pain that would knock out an adult, but it was patched up quickly enough by her regeneration and magical particles acting as pain killers.

She condensed a ball of her substance and threw it as hard as she could, causing it's course to blast straight at Euclidia, before exploding. It was a grenade of sorts, the substance would spontaneously explode into a larger mass of the same substance, the force generated would pierce its surroundings. Tremors were sent into the air, temporarily distorting light with highly pressured air.

"Fuh~" (Huo Li)

That was just a taster. While Euclidia shot back numerous antimagic lasers in response, HuoLi swiftly flew out of the way before clapping her hand. A gargantuan quantity of spears materialised right above the ground before standing pointed at Euclidia and shooting off separately. Euclidia danced in mid air, with agile ease she weaved in between the encroaching spears despite their inumerability, firing off occasional lasers to deflect the spears that she couldn't avoid.

HuoLi summoned a large sword in tandem, formed from the substance it imposes an all encompassing shadow upon the already dim land, it collapsed down from above while the spear's shot from ground level. Learning from her mistakes, Euclidia forms a spherical red barrier to protect herself from all sides. Most of the spears bounced off the barrier while a few manage to graze it.

*pfttf*

The sword from the sky managed to smash through a section of her barrier. Euclidia responded by immediately reinforcing the barrier, a faint red light arose from her fingers, threading itself into strings and fibrils that attached to the barrier. The barrier resisted the massive kinetic force accumulated by the giant sword as it attempted to repair itself. The damaged red sphere surrounding Euclidia convulsed vigorously as it pushed against the weight of the giant sword. The sword was large enough that it could be held by the statue of liberty.

From the side... A large scythe, HuoLi's most familiar weapon swings at full speed. HuoLi hasn't stopped moving once, relentlessly attacking with so much of the substance synthesised into weapons. Euclidia was fully occupied with the spears launching from the ground and the giant sword crushing her from the sky, that she completely failed to notice the scythe that was swung at her back.

Her red barrier shattered at once as the scythe dug into Euclidia's flesh. The sword collapses further, falling onto her Euclidia. Its enormous weight smashes against her skull and crushes a portion of it into a pulp. After Euclidia's persistent resistance, it quickly lost momentum and force, so it couldn't do much damage and relied almost solely on weight. The result was that while it looked like Euclidia's head caved in a little, her head recovered so fast it didn't even look like it was injured in the first place, and in the process of recovery a Web like crack spread from the point of contact to the rest of the sword.

Euclidia's antimagic quickly propagated and spread all over the sword, causing it to wither away as if it was constructed from dust. For HuoLi this was a first, apart from Ray and perhaps a couple others, no one else used antimagic nor did they use it to this proficiency. Her once indestructible substance forces opponents to find loopholes around its indestructibility or die. This was a first experience seeing how easily Euclidia kept destroying her constructs.

Euclidia wasn't really that unintelligent either. She left the opening on purpose, swinging the scythe from the side required HuoLi to get close. If HuoLi continued to attack from long range, Euclidia would try to resist further. The scythe shattering her barrier was no coincidence. Without pause, antimagic lasers shot out of her body into every direction while Euclidia had a slightly hunched pose.

The scythe that was stuck in her body disintegrated, one of the lasers grazed HuoLi's ear while another struck a hole through her torso and lung, barely missing the bottom side of her heart. A few more lasers blasted a hole through her hips and another shaved off the lower half of her right leg. She promptly formed another scythe and swung once more after the lasers were gone, buying time to recover.

A small reddish black sword formed in mid air and dropped into Euclidia's hands, which she used swing a parry against the scythe's blade, the reverberations cause by the collision course into her arm like a flood numbing her joints. Concentrating her antimagic into her foot, she used her sword as a stabilisation tool as she kicked the scythe into pieces.

The broken fragments of the scythe dissipated into magical particles as HuoLi made a new sword and swung past Euclidia's sword, stabbing into her chest. She then abandoned that sword and formed a shield, weathering the failed counterattack from Euclidia who proceeded to shatted the shield with a kick after her sword failed to pierce it.

HuoLi grabbed ahold of her leg, pulled Euclidia closer and swung her elbow against Euclidia's face. She caught the elbow with her left palm and swung her right fist against HuoLi's face, crushing her nose in the process as her knuckles collided against HuoLi's skull. HuoLi gritted her teet and grabbed Euclidia's head which was now nearer and swung it against her knee. An antimagic laser sprout from Euclidia's chest and shot towards HuoLi's chest, but it was similarly intercepted by the substance secreting out of her body to form a spike.

Euclidia was focused on the surprise attack, it was a short instance but it was enough for HuoLi to throw in one more punch to her cheek. The impact was heavy as it blew a hole in the atmosphere, Euclidia staggered as she float through the air backwards while training her eye on HuoLi's body. Even through all the pain and suffering, they kept their eyes on each other to the very end.

This is no place to die, even if both of their individual bodies were tough enough to regenerate from almost any injury right after the attack, they aren't able to regenerate in the instance damage was done. For example, Euclidia couldn't recover during the time HuoLi's fist impacted her cheek, but after separating from her fist she was able to revitalise her body just fine. It meant that as long as they busted up the other party's brain, they would win.

Though, for Euclidia it might be different. HuoLi only knew her own limits, even S grades will not survive if their brains get disintegrated. Unlike C grades and below, they would easily survive decapitation as their head could grow back their entire bodies. B and A grades have a small chance to survive decapitation, with each grade increasing the chances. But no grades would allow someone to survive their brain getting completely obliterated.

Even SS grades would face this problem. In reality, S grades and above often have absurd rule breaking skills that allow them to bypass this weakness even if it does not directly prevent it from being a weakness. An easy work around was through the use of clones. As long as a single clone survive, then in a way that person has bypassed death.

Another less scarce was more traditional and direct, such as Myuu's final skill. By harnessing the information of every Myuu from every timeline and universe, she reconstructs her body with her own information as the base. It was akin to filling in the gaps of a broken vase with gold, an old and obscure art form. She directly revives herself.

Jumping in mid air, HuoLi drastically increased her altitude as her body shot off spiking spears that flew off her body at Euclidia. She summoned her trusty scythe, abusing its mid ranging capabilities to play the battlefield into her own tempo. Euclidia shot off my antimagic lasers, firing them more rapidly than before like a machine gun at close range.

Miraculously, HuoLi danced about as she deflected the bullets that would get near with her scythe, her supple fingers dexterous lt spun the scythe like a loose threat that freely swam to wherever she willed it to. She began to close the distance, pressing pressure onto Euclidia and subconsciously pressuring her mental state. When an enemy is confidently closing the distance, who wouldn't at least feel a little put off by it? What if HuoLi had some kind of plan to kill her in an instant the moment she gets close enough?

Prudently, Euclidia jumped backwards while firing more lasers, diversifying her range of attack by barraging HuoLi from more angles. HuoLi summons a second scythe in her other palm, spinning the two to cover all angles. It was only with her countless years of experience that she could commit such a feat so casually as if she was drinking water.

Naturally... Her substance and antimagic was like distinct opposites. Her substance had a mostly physical nature that would puncture the structure of dense antimagic through blunt force or rend it apart with fotce and sharpness. Antimagic on the other hand, easily bypassed her substance's usual indestructibility by disrupting the magical particles that formed the foundation of its existence. It ruptures the base that anchors it from phenomena into reality.

Closing the distance with one final leap, she covers her body with a swinging scythe while attacking with the other. She lowered her centre of gravity as she bent her knee and channeled her strength into her wrist and arm. Reinforcing her shin with red light, Euclidia slams it against the approaching scythe by intercepting its trajectory, followed by a powerful swing of her arm at the scythe.

HuoLi's weapon weathered the attack and cracked at the handle near the blade. She patched it up with more of the substance at an incredible speed, even if Euclidia was insanely strong, she missed it after blinking once. However... Simply reinforcing by piling on the base material ruined its structural integrity. The weight imbalance caused HuoLi to swing her scythe back slightly slower, deflecting the lasers that shot from random directions that aimed at her blind spots.

The extent of deflection was lower than usual, zooming past her body at a dangerously close distance as it went under her armpit. The air felt slightly hotter around her arm that had barely avoided it through sheer luck, while Euclidia abused this fact to discretely aim her attacks at the scythe instead. Since the shoddy reinforcement was worse than a patchwork that made the handle tip's shape irregular, the antimagic was able to sneakily disintegrate from the outside to its center, causing the entire blade to fracture.

The force of HuoLi's own swinging dealt the final blow as it shattered into pieces. This gave Euclidia an opening, whom lunged with a shoddily materialised antimagic blade.

"Kagh!" (HuoLi)

Her eyes widened and convulsed, the sensation assaulting her neck was more than she could handle yet she squeezed out a dry cry of pain. Her lips felt like they withered and her throat leaked excessively as her vision trembled unsteadily. She could no longer feel the rest of her body, it led to the shifting of her weight towards the blade, pushing it in further. She was supporting herself on the blade, the pain lay vivid as if it was opposed to silently cursing at her, it screamed throughout her mind.

No amount of mental fortitude could prepare a person against this amount of pain, after all pain was not something that was quantitative in the first place, it was compounded, forced onto one's own psyche by their mind, a reminder of one's mortality, a calling of her biological limit slowly creeping onto her back to drag her down into hell. It was qualitative, other than the magical particle's effect of making a magical girl's body produce pain killers, there was no other resistance for it.

Such a simple, natural phenomena for an organism, it was so much that it nearly drove her insane. Undescribable agony assaulted her neck and entire body, her body felt both cold and hot at the same time. Instinctively, she used her final skill. If she was to die, she might as well pour all of her magic into one final attack. A conceptual attack that acts on a primordial concept even beyond the gods. The end.

[A maiden's median of the world's end]

The details were as follows:

-a skill originally meant to prevent the end of the world

-if the enemy is deemed to be able to erase the world by the skill, they are destroyed

-if the enemy is capable of defending against this skill, they are destroyed

-if the enemy destroys the world upon being destroyed, destroy the enemy and nullify the world's destruction

-if the enemy destroys the world in the past, present or future, they are destroyed

-if the enemy can destroy the world while independant of time, they are destroyed

-effect on non-world destroyers: forces the opponent to experience the end of time

Euclidia was merely the embodiment of a race of magic beings, the diverse multispecies demon race. She would only experience the last effect, this was not HuoLi's destined time. The sword immediately vanished, it was sheer ineptitude that she allowed such a measly weapon damage her this much, just because it disrupted her augmentations to make her feel the full pain a normal human would feel when stabbed in the neck.
