Chapter 155 - 155 - Brash power

***(Gerald)

A circle of mint green light surrounded Myuu on the ground before expanding out, covering the entire dimension in an instant with it's own colour, dark greyish green. Countless squarish buildings rose up from the ground, resembling a roughly open city. If another human was here, they would agree that this place pretty much looked like any other city now, some might even say they saw this place before The Great Disaster.

The only odd part of this city was its colour. Rather the classic grey concrete of familiarity, it boasted countless different hues like that of a carnivorous plant's. In nature, it was very common for plants or animals to evolve into creatures that can boast many colours to attract others, whether it was for mating or attracting prey. The same goes for plants with their vibrance and scent.

Random patches of purple and bright orange resemble the setting sun was plastered over some of the buildings, with hot pink, emerald green, sapphire blue and brilliant crimson made the buildings very eye-catching. It was attempting to imitate some idea of an 'ideal civilisation', of course all this did was skew its diet's variety of prey to be primarily humans as other intelligent species had drastically different preferences.

"Within this boundary, I can temporarily summon plants that were stronger or even more ancient. The upper limit of magical particles required increased as this dimension reduces the cost. If I had a full well, it would be far more devastating than this." (Myuu)

"It's enough cover for me to slit their throats. Take their full attention with larger attacks."

"Tch, I'd still be trying to kill them either way." (Myuu)

She clicked her tongue in frustration at the number of enemies she needed to fight alone, but her gait has improved considerably. Her exhaustion no longer showed on her face as her confidence carried her forward. For a faint moment, it looked like the old Kaori instead. She may be hiding it, but the new one still looked like a baby fawn struggling to stand straight. But that was a foolish thought, a whim of my fatigue I suppose. Now it's my turn, while Myuu wastes her magical particles away as the bait, I'll kill flank them and hopefully pull off a pincer with Myuu.

"Mostruosita della origin labyrinth." (Seretizia)

Halfway through my forward rush, the Arachne's words couldn't escape my hearing. But I doubt Myuu would know... SHIT! DAMN IT!!! Of course they would predict it if we use such an obvious tactic! Changing plans, I'll alert her right now through the simplest way. I can't override her territory as it will lose effect, but I can mask it.

Just a little behind where the Arachne used her technique to transform into a giant spider, the large strands of hair with 4 metres diameter strikes the buildings around me. The hair seemed to be coming from her back and legs as they search around every corner like collosal feelers. It seems that they would find my location at any moment anyway. Might as well make a big announcement.

"Oblivion Magia, Drowning obsession."

Drown in your own despair! In this space, the desire of my enemies work against themselves as the more they move the more they lose their senses. Every sense. A black mist had spread out with my body as the origin, it covered up 9 buildings in an instant before slowing its expansion to reach a radius of 20 buildings. The only problem is that the area of coverage must seemed small to the several-building sized monsters walking around. I could even feel the mist being sucked in my the threads coming out of the spider and the mist vanishing in chunks around the lizard.

It was a horrible match up, with the 2 monsters pulling off such detrimental effects on our magic output, it made the battle so much more harder. Just how did Kaori fight off Ray? Everyone assumed that wild piece of shit would outlive them with her antimagic, but then she suddenly died because she got too cocky... The biggest menace on this continent, a natural of enemy of magical girls killed by a newbie... I assumed Kaori was hiding her strength at first because of that, so I had felt suspicious of her at all times. But then she went and lost her memories. What a joke! If power beings like these are going to die because of stupid reasons, then why hasn't the progenitor fallen into a stroke yet!

Channeling my anger, I calmed myself as I searched for my targets. It was easy to pinpoint the 2 monsters, but locating the masked magical girl would take even more work as it required senses 10 times more precise in this kind of environment, senses like mine. I leaped quietly past a few buildings as I exercised my radar.

I made it so the conceptual darkness generated reacted with reality similarly to a gas by specifying the properties of its particles, though I could also make it a pure mass of energy. This allows it to last longer on the battlefield even if the effect is weaker, it's going to be enhanced by the Oblivion Magia anyway. It's too bad I can't 'feel' everything the gas touches. I mean I'd rather not as that would be awkward with people in it, but if I focused properly I can see where are the spaces that it's not occupying. For example, the masked magical girl's body.

Located, detonate. A distant boom could be heard as it reverberated through the ground we stood on, one didn't need to think twice to understand what was going on. Myuu was on the opposite side approaching the monsters, so it was fine to cause such a large explosion. It was the size of around 4 of the buildings. The conceptual darkness used as fuel for the magical explosion was quickly replenished. I don't know if she's truly dead yet, but it's time to face the monsters.

Since the mist and the plants aren't working on them, I decided to converge all the conceptual darkness together into one large scythe. In a way, an Oblivion Magia is like a playing field to see what you can do without the limit of magical particles. The entire place is under your control, so all ambient magical particles become under one's control, increasing one's well beyond the normal amount. But it isn't as dense as an actual well so it isn't sufficient to fuel the Oblivion Magia, that is still powered by the magical girl's actual well.

Finishing preparations, a super dense building sized scythe laid under my palm as I dragged my arm behind my back. Slicing open the giant threads shot by the spider, large colourful plants begin slipping through its defense and crawling up its legs. Meanwhile, the lizard remained impervious, mowing down multiple buildings in a row now that its vision isn't obstructed.

"Kgh!!! It's getting hard to hold on, Gerald!!" (Myuu)

"I KNOW!!!! I'M TRYING MY BEST HERE!!!!"

Spinning the scythe with all my strength, it rends through the ground Iw as standing on with pure ease as I jumped towards the spider. A brown pillar peaks through from the side as it smashes into the scythe, it was the masked magical girl. Her combat dress seems to be ragged as she didn't have enough magical particles to repair it. She was concentrating the rest of her power into augmenting her body and her ancient weapon. It was her trump card from earlier, it didn't suffer a single scratch but since the detonation hit from all angles she wasn't able to protect herself.

Putting more strength into scythe, it was unable to destroy her ancient weapon. But there was no need to.

*Splttt*

She was crushed into a meaty paste by her own weapon. Its durability was able to hold up to the scythe that wielded the entire power of this Oblivion Magia as an important effect of it had taken root into the enemy. At the start I had already prepared this ability. The more they moved through the black mist, the more they lose their senses in this darkness.

That is the property of my 'drowning obsession', and when it was condensed into this scythe, its effects will carry through to the enemy as long as they parry it. If they don't parry it they will get sliced through, if they parry it their soul is corroded. While the existence of souls is under debate, whether they are real will not matter. Because the magic either affects the enemy's soul, or it creates a phenomenon that acts similarly to the soul. If it is not real, just create it. That is magic.

It inflicts corrosion on the link between the soul and the body, it doesn't have the power to completely break it but this is enough. It causes the receiver to slowly lose all their physical senses and magical senses. This includes the vital perception of magical particles and touch. I... I've tried it on myself before. I can't comprehend how Kaori lives like this now, but I guess she doesn't have much of a choice, and unlike her the enemy can't get used to it right away. They lose their grip both physically and magically, allowing their own weapons to crush them when they parry.

1 down, 2 more to go. Converting the scythe into a spear, the spider finches for a second before trying to strike with its own spear made by its threads. Another giant spear, one made of vines and combined from the surrounding buildings rose out of the ground from the other side. While the spider's main gimmick, its absurd magic absorbing threads was formidable, a surprise attack like this quickly skewered her in an instant.

I needed to make her use up all her threads so Myuu's attack isn't impeded... I ended up using too much magic to regenerate the conceptual darkness... Meanwhile, the lizard hasn't moved for a few seconds when all this went by... Was it waiting for this moment?! We simply saw the chance to do it, hopefully Myuu has enough to help us retreat... I look over with hope in my expression, over at the other end Myuu... Her legs given out and her transformation was wearing off...

I use my remaining magical particles, canceling my transformation right after I through a black spear. Hopefully... This will do enough... To destroy the organisation. The lizard rushes towards us in an excited frenzy, its absurdly elongated tongue frayed around as large droplets of toxic saliva rains upon the unfortunate ground. The plants with enough magical particles to reinforce themselves, burnt and melted away... Right as it was about to crush Myuu with its legs, one of the building sized and building shaped plants intercepted it for a few seconds. But no matter how much time was bought, her legs couldn't move.

The lizard crashed through the building as it did a death roll like an alligator, its beady eyes seemed like it was holding back a grin as it stared down Myuu's pitiful despair. Her shaky hands held themselves up, a futile attempt right before her end... Myuu held her hands up for the first time in her life. Is this how defeat felt? Is this how Kaori felt? Even at the last moment, she thought of Kaori.

Her cheeks became unbearably hotter, it made her uncomfortable but her tears wouldn't stop coming out to cool her face down anyway. They streamed down like split streams from a river, drawing beautiful arcs as her thoughts rushed to where she found comfort. It felt unreal, as if she was disassociating from reality, but her eyes worked perfectly fine as they observed her impending doom, albeit it was completely obstructed by her tears.

It was why she couldn't processed the reality in front of her eyes. A familiar back that never stopped moving forward, a familiar light greyish hue that came about as a side effect from her training. A comforting yet vigorous purple aura, Myuu was never really protected by her other than the few times the girl took the lead and fought for her, in fact it was the opposite yet she had an odd feeling. An odd assurance that the girl in front of her will win.

'... What... The hell....??!?' (Myuu)

Her hands couldn't stabilise from her trembling, but she still held them close to her jaws.

"..." (Barius/Neli)

Another familiar individual and a new face had walked to the sides of Myuu. They watched on in earnest as Kaori walked towards the giant monster.

"Have you seen her like that before?" (Dedrinelese)

"... I've seen a less intense version, but nothing made her this worked up before..." (Barius)

"...?" (Myuu)

Staring at each other, it almost felt like a standoff had started between Kaori and the giant lizard. It raised its upper body, ready to plunge its entire gargantuan weight onto Kaori. It was practically already as heavy as a mountain, but combined with its magic and strength, it should-

*PAAAA!!!*

It sounded like a light slap combined with the explosion of fireworks. However a large chunk of the lizard's right arm has been blown off.
