Liam looked towards the door. Inside entered a beautiful woman probably in her late 20s. She had a cute attractive face too innocent for her age. Their eyes collided and it didn't feel like new. They could feel the attraction between them but why? The thread wasn't intact on their wrist so what attraction was this. Well, this was the cupid's arrow that had hit them long ago when Liam had confessed and Scarlett wanted to.
Their destiny had collided again probably because their match was made in heaven.
"Scarlett this is Liam. You have to escort him", the old woman excitedly explained to her daughter probably dreaming of her daughter's colorful future with the young man. But she didn't know they had a black and white past long lost.
"Young man, this is Scarlett, my daughter. She will take care of you. Be good to her. She is mute", she whispered the last lines carefully not hurting Scarlett's feelings.
After that, she left leaving the soulmates alone.
Liam cleared his throat, "uhuh".
Scarlett looked at him with those Bambi's eyes, the same old stare nothing changed. Liam's heart skipped a beat getting lost in her eyes. Now he had become more bold and smart in these years. He marched towards Scarlett with his slow steps. He was looking heavenly handsome in a black shirt and jeans, sleeves folded giving a perfect view of his veiny hands. He had now become a man and was no more a high schoolboy.
For Scarlett it was the first time she saw an educated man, she had always seen village boys who weren't that well built. They were handsome but lived a very simple life and here Liam's fit and body made Scarlett ogle over him. Being extremely shy she kept her head low.
She felt something familiar, the body odor was very familiar, she knew this face, this smell, and this man. But how?
Liam on the other hand was as confused as Scarlett.
"So Miss Scarlett", he said in his deep voice which made Scarlett jelly.
She again looked at him.
"I need some water", he took a step back and said.
Scarlett nods and then ran away to fetch some water. After a minute she was back. Liam quickly gulped down to satisfy his thirst. Then he decided to wash up a bit and take some rest. Scarlett took him to a hand pump, this village really followed very old styles.
After that Liam changed into trousers and a tee. Meanwhile, Scarlett was preparing food for him.
She prepared fish curry with rice which was delicious to the taste buds. Liam for once shook because it tasted so familiar. Everything was very suspicious.
Seemed like mother and father had planned to leave the duo alone so they informed them that they will be out to the neighbor's house. Scarlett and Liam had no other option than to stay together.
It was a small house with only one room. The small family of three always slept on the woolen mats spread on the floor. Liam had never experienced something like this before. He slept on warm cozy beds and air-conditioned rooms all his life. Scarlett spread the sheets on the floor and signaled Liam to sleep there. Liam felt disappointed at first because he didn't want to sleep on the floor but he had no other option. Then he asked Scarlett, "Do you have a charging point?" because his phone was dead.
Scarlett got confused because she didn't know anything much but the electronic device in Liam's hand looked familiar as if she has used it before. She shook her head in a "no".
Liam was rummaging through his bag searching for some stuff when his eyes fell on his diary, he carried his diary everywhere, he himself didn't know why. Today after many days he opened it again and read the first pages, the first words caught his eyes.
"Scarlett, pink cheeks, Bambi eyes, cute and I love her", was written 6 years ago.
*Scarlett, is she the same girl I have been searching for for 6 years?* he thought to himself.
He read further and the description matched the girl he met a few hours back. but then he shook his head in a "no" denying to believe it.
By now Scarlett was back with two thick blankets to cover themselves up, it was freezing cold. She also lit some firewood for heat. The room was quite cozy and warm. It was filled with the yellow and orange light of the fire, pretty beautiful and comfy.
Liam laid down and covered himself in a blanket. He started reading a thick book for time to pass. Scarlett sat there covering herself looking at nothing but then her eyes fell on the godly man sitting there looking absolutely stunning. This time her heart skipped lots of beats. She observed him carefully and wanted to ask that had ever met before. He didn't look like a stranger, she was neither scared nor afraid of him, if it would have been some other man, she would have been scared staying with him all alone at night, but with Liam, she was not.
"Why are you looking at me like that?", Liam asked still reading his book. Scarlett got perplexed, *how did he know I was looking at him?*, she thought to himself.
"Tell me if you have something to say", he said.
Scarlett gathered all of her courage and brought chalk and a wooden board from somewhere.
*Have we met before?*, she wrote nervously.
*She is thinking the same, I am thinking, what if she is the same Scarlett*, Liam gave a thought.
"I don't know", he said.
Scarlett got a bit offended by his answer but chose to stay quiet.
None of them spoke anything, they went off to sleep. Scarlett slept as far as she could from him, she had never touched a man all his life, at least what she thought and remembered.
Next-Day Liam was successful in getting his phone charged in the village's registrar's office.
After that, his guards and colleagues came to pick him up. He was back to work. When he was departing mother was sad, she threw lots of questions at both of them like,
"Kids you should meet more",
"Did you two like each other? I guess you did".
None of them spoke anything, Liam and Scarlett didn't even look at each other but their hearts ached, they were once again getting separated. Scarlett felt a knot formed in her stomach, she gulped hard and tried to control the unwanted tears which were about to fall. She herself didn't know why this was happening. She only knew she didn't want the man to go. After Liam left Scarlett ran towards the river and cried. She cried after a really really long time. On the other hand, Liam was not at all in a good mood, he wanted to bring Scarlett along with him but how can he? He found no reason to bring her along.
