Chapter 8 - chapter 8

the man blinked a few times

" what?! how does that make sense?"

he pulled at his hair in confusion, both worried that this was a trap and frustrated that he could do nothing but trust the voice since he was dying anyway.

so he hissed his doubts " putting aside what you just said, why would you want to help me survive?"

the voice, this time, answered almost immediately

" isn't that obvious? you are a fun toy, and i'm quite fond of my toys"

"fond my ass! you sadistic piece of shit! what else do you want from me? you took everything!" the man kept yelling and cursing until he felt a chill run down his spine. he couldn't feel what was happening to his physical body but he knew that he needed to wake up right now

and as if on cue the voice finished their conversation

" this is goodbye for now. survive Lothar"

the man was startled after hearing his name that he almost forgot, his pupils shook fiercely and before he could heave a breath he awoke to a sharp claw at his neck

' waking up with a sharp claw at your throat is exactly as terrifying as you'd think it is' he thought to himself as he tilted his head avoiding the attack

his body ached and his head felt like it's being crushed by a gigantic mountain, his veins felt like they would burst making his skin hurt with any slight movement

but he persevered because he didn't want to die. the conversation he had with the voice

rekindled his hatred towards it once more. so he stood up slowly 'looking' at the beasts in front of him

he closed his eyes and let his instincts take control over his body, he shut down his brain and went berserk..

..

the man, Lothar, couldn't tell what type of beasts decided to attack him but he didn't care either. adrenaline kicked in, he grabbed the closest beast by its head and smashed it on the ground

he jumped up and dodged an attack that came from behind him, almost destroying his spine.

he looked down at the beast that tried to sneak one on him and tilting his body midair then landing with his elbow on its back, breaking it. its spine had a V shape as it layed there waiting for the man to kill it, and it didn't have to wait long

as the other beasts watched their own kin killed off so quickly they realized the mistake they made. the monster seemed now more like a demon with his black blue veins and bloodshot eyes. they decided to abandon the ones that were fighting against the monster and turn tail.

this time, Lothar didn't follow them. he knew he pushed his body too far. he had about 30 seconds before he collapses, so he immediately dropped the beasts' corpses in both his hands and staggered towards the corpse of the bird beast, or kali.

he dropped on his knees next to it while letting a series of groans and grunts as his whole body trembled in pain.

turning it on its back he lowered his head towards its chest, he bit down on the area next to its heart and ripped the skin

he kept ripping it with his teeth and nails desperately until a huge gap opened, he then used what little strength was left in his arms to stretch it open until he found the place where its heart is supposed to be. next to the blue heart was a small bead. it was the size of a pearl, maybe even smaller. but it emitted a strong force that lothar guessed was its soul power.

he grabbed it with shaky hands and swallowed it.

he waited to see the aftermath but suddenly felt jolting pain throughout his whole body. he grabbed his burning throat and fell on the floor, squirming around.

he opened his mouth but he could only scream silently. tears ran down his face, he wanted the pain to stop.

it was the worst pain he ever felt in his short life..

so while the man layed there futily, weeping and screaming in pain, not being able to pass out and escape the agony, a being that looked neither beastly nor human smiled

" it seems he is going through his second assimilation phase, let's hope he survives"
