A deep husky voice echoed from her back and she almost had a heart attack. Where did he come from? As a simple reflex, Gwendolyn turned around and her eyes almost popped out. Here was Duane shirtless and only on jeans. Her eyes caught the trail of sweat that traveled into the prominent V of his abdomen and she gulped. This was sex walking in daylight. "Like what you see?" He snapped her from her thoughts. Gwen glared at him yet went ahead to ask, "H-how did you hear that question? I need to know because I'm sure as hell that you were distracted as I was. Hence, there was no way on earth you could have heard that," Duane chuckled, the kind that sent tremors down her body, "That's your mistake honey, I was listening in class," was his reply as he leaned against the wall, coming too close for her liking. He was invading her senses, his presence was making it too hard to concentrate, "It seems you need to be spanked, you weren't listening in class," He said suggestively. Gwendolyn went red in the face but she would not be fooled by his flirting, which was why she said to him boldly, "I know what you are?" "What I am?" he was clearly amused, "Then tell me then, what do you think I am?" "A vampire,"

Chapter 1 - Her Instinct Never Lie

Gwendolyn felt sick to the stomach, this was the last place she wanted to be. And she wasn't just talking about the school - Booger High - the town as well, Booger town.

This town was fucked up, who exactly answers booger: slang for a piece of dried mucus from your nose. Not to talk that adding  "man" to it makes a Boogerman town. Ominous much?

However, that wasn't her business. It just irked her that her family traveled miles and miles from the city only to end up in this town - their father's hometown - Booger Town.

The last time they had been here was when grandmother had died and she was just four years old - as narrated by her father. She couldn't remember a  thing even though the people here seem to know her - it creeped her out.

Although Booger Town had just a population of twenty thousand, everyone seemed to know one another and that was exactly what she hated. Gwendolyn knew it was mandatory for people to gossip, but she didn't want her life to be an open book. However, that wish was impossible, considering she was part of the Black family.

Yes, her name is Gwendolyn Black and she is eighteen years old and living with two younger brothers; one who plays pranks on her times without number and the other who's very sweet to her. The Black is an influential and rich family hence the whole attention.

The whole attention thing was heightened as soon as she and her brother stepped out of the Bugatti. Gwendolyn didn't need to read minds to know the kids were probably referring to them as the rich folks from the city.

Most of the cars driven by the students here were trucks, station wagons, minivans, and sedans, nor did any come close to being as expensive as hers.

Considering she wasn't an attention seeker, Gwendolyn never wanted to drive this but her mother had insisted. According to "mommy dearest" they didn't need to lower their standard just because they moved into a small town. Well, since she would be spending a year here, she had enough time to lower her "standard".

"Move out of the way, slowpoke " her neither Nate shoved her shoulder and walked on.

"Assd*ck," She called him and he heard her because he gave her the middle finger.

Gwen composed herself, she was not going to lunge at that little asshole who doesn't know basic respect and picks at his nose when no one's looking! Wow, releasing those pent-up emotions felt good.

Ignoring the probing stares from the students, they went up the cobble path that led to the front office. As expected of every administrative office, it was neat and organized. There was a little waiting room but the walls were a warm blue and medals lined it.

"Your names?"

"Gwendolyn Black," She answered as soon as it was their turn to be attended to, "And Nate Black," She answered the woman with fiery red hair standing behind the long counter cluttered with files and piles of documents.

"I could have answered," Nate was smug.

"Save your stinky breath," She countered, rolling her eyes.

The woman went on, "The children of Jimmy and Margaret Black?"

"The one and only," Gwen breathed.

Of course, why wouldn't the receptionist know about their parents?

"Here's your schedule and the map to help you get to your respective classes. Have a nice day,"

"I hope too," She muttered under her breath, receiving the papers for both of them. However, Nate snatched his from her as soon as they were out of the office.

"Don't get lost and disgrace yourself," He mocked her and took his leave before she could retort.

Don't get her wrong, she loved her brother - only when they weren't fighting. For some reason, Nate seems to think they are in competition with each other.

Gwen waved him away, taking her time to get familiar with her new school environment. In no time, she found herself in the hallway screaming with people as she tried to locate her locker.

She had Economics, at the least that was what her schedule said, and was still searching when she bumped into someone. Gosh, her arm was hurting. What did she bump into? A wall?

"I'm sorry... " She was still apologizing when the girl she had bumped into  boomed,

"Watch it!"

It was just two simple words but Gwendolyn stiffened up and for the first time since she arrived today, felt goosebumps creep up her arm.

The female's blue eyes staring back at her with heated intensity made her want to squirm and hide. And the worst part was, her instincts never lie.
