At lunch break that day, Adam introduced Gwen to the rest of his friends and there she learned about the populars and all. And let's say the revelation grew her interest to know more about this clique.
"So about Duane Evans?" she tactically let out her interest in him be known. Earlier when she had asked about him, Adam's quick answer had been for her to stay as far away from him. She wondered if the guy was part of the mafia or something else why would he tell her to stay away from him as if he was the devil himself.
But right now she was at a table with Adam and his three other friends; two girls named Sofia and Fizzy respectively and the other guy called Aiden. As if the universe wanted her to get her answers at that moment, the so-called avoid-like - a- pest - Duane Evans made his debut into the cafeteria with a group of people, probably his own friends.
But then what shocked Gwen the more was the fact that the scary girl from earlier was part of the clique. What was she doing with them? Don't they know how scary she was?
"Oh about him… ?" faltered Sofia as soon her eyes followed after the group who had made their appearance and apparently, they weren't the only ones who noticed the clique because everyone's eyes were on them the moment they came in. It was as if Duane and his clique naturally commanded attention wherever they went.
But then the group of devilishly beautiful humans didn't seem to mind as they took their seats in the cafeteria - almost as if they were used to the whole attention thing.
"Oh them?" Aiden blushed and I didn't even need to ask why he was doing so - the reason was so obvious. Duane and his friends had a beauty that was just so out of this world.
"The populars," Fizzy thankfully answered, the others were still fawning over them.
"The Evans family" Adam added to Gwen's surprise.
Didn't he want her to avoid them? Maybe he had a change of mind, she shrugged it off. However, that revelation hit her, "Then Duane -"
"Yes, they're all related," He answered as if he knew what was on her mind.
"That's Annette," Adam pointed and her gaze followed his gesture only to rest on a goddess of beauty.
Her tall frame and slender body were like a Victorian secret model with blue eyes like the sea and had long wavy black hair that tumbled down her back in waves. Her pale skin and her lips painted a bold red made her stand out from the crowd. She had an overwhelmingly beautiful and sexy body which was no wonder Aiden was blushing furiously.
"She's pretty," Gwen commented
"Yeah, even a blind man could see that," Aiden concurred, his blush deepening.
"Beside her is Ethel, the cold one," Fizzy quickly added in a whisper, "I pray you don't end up on her bad side. Everyone here avoids her,"
And yes, Fizzy wasn't wrong in calling her the cold one. You could already figure out who she was talking about. It was no other than that girl who had scared the shit out of Gwen earlier and this time she took time to look her over.
Ethel wasn't as pretty as Annette but she had her own charms with golden wavy hair, dark eyes that she applied quite a thick mascara with an unsmiling face. Ethel was taller than the girls in the clique and exuded a do- not - mess - with-me vibe. Gwendolyn made a mental note to stay away by all means possible.
"The cheerful-looking girl beside her is Nora. She is a light that never goes off," Adam explained with enthusiasm that drew Gwen's attention to Nora and she was just he described.
Nora looked so happy and she pulled her raven-colored hair into a ponytail as they spoke. Alluringly, she blinked, letting her eyelashes flutter like the wings of a butterfly. Her eyes were simply spellbinding; a rapturous shade of cerulean blue that was much appealing than her - Gwen's - green ones.
"The both men over there are Liam and Zach,"
Liam had chocolate hair with deep dark blue eyes and a die for pouty lips while Zach was a blonde with striking Hazel eyes and both were muscular. However, Gwen saw some sort of resemblance and turned to Adam,
"Liam -"
"Brother to Duane," Adam answered as usual. Was he reading her mind or what? Gwen couldn't help but wonder. He always seems to know the question on her mind.
He went on, "The others are cousins to them or something closely related to that. Other than that, nobody here knows anything about them because they creepily keep to themselves," was his narration.
Gwendolyn stared at the Evans quietly having their meal and it dawned on her, this wasn't just a clique, but a family and if there's anything she's learned so far with hers, it was the fact that family protected their own fiercely. She better toss her curiosity of them to the gutter; she would not be welcomed.
Gwendolyn kept on staring, they were alike; every one of them was chalky pale, the palest of the
Caucasians she has ever seen.
"They almost look like -"
"Vampires," Adam completed for her and it was official, this boy could read minds.
"Do you read minds because I swear I'm beginning to suspect you? " she couldn't help but ask. Gwendolyn was the type that never rested if she had something on her mind.
"No I don't and don't need it since the questions are written all over your face," He gestured to her expression which made Gwen wipe her face with her palm.
"Silly, you're not the first to have wondered about them because of their appearance but trust me, we've proven that they're not vampires," He chuckled at her but she didn't take it to her because she was invested in this family.
So she asked, "How are you so sure? Have you checked?"
