Chapter 5 - Chapter Two

"Who the hell are you guys?" Raina said after what she felt like an eternal stare coming from the both of them. She had ushered them to a corner to inquire what they wanted from her. The young men had been staring at her without saying a word.

"It can't be her," One of them spoke. He had brown hair with a slight undercut with his hair falling to his side. He had bottle green eyes.

"How then would you explain the necklace?" The other one said. He was the more handsome one in the duo. He had deep sea blue eyes with strands of hair falling to his face. His jawline added to his beauty.

Raina noticed something. They looked too beautiful. Too beautiful to be human.

"It could be any necklace, Arion," the first one said. At least she knew one of their names.

But the staring was beginning to freak her out.

But they had mentioned something about her necklace. It was a crescent shaped necklace she had always known herself putting on. Aunt Lydia had told her that it was the only thing she had of her mother.

"I doubt it. It most certainly is not of the mundane world," Arion said.

"Better speak up or I'll call the cops on you both," Raina said, trying to put on a brave face.

For the first time, Arion's gaze met hers and a surge of adrenaline flowed through her. It was like they had a connection but she wasn't sure if he felt it too.

"Mundanes tend to exaggerate the meaning of words, don't they?" Arion said, "If I must remind you, the entrance lady told you we wanted to see you, not speak to you."

Raina silently muttered an 'Oh'. He had a point. He was very observant. But they were creeping her out right now.

She had already made up her mind to get them out of her office when they other guy calmed her down.

"We are sorry. My friend here can sometimes be an arse. I'm -"

Arion cut in, "-nobody." He shot an ice glare at his partner. "We're here to bring her home, not get properly acquainted with her."

It seemed as though the other guy did not like being pushed around like that. "Yeah, and I don't recall part of the plan requires you to be a jerk to her. We have to be nice to her enough to convince her to follow us. And to think you're a sage."

Arion heaved a sigh of frustration. "We're not going to beg you to follow us. But you really need to come with us. An entire race of people is at stake here. If you need to speak to us, meet us at the place where the sun never sets and you can find us anytime."

Before they left, Raina had three conclusion:

1. Arion was arrogant and proud but damn, he had to be the gorgeous one.

2. They looked too beautiful to be human. It was as though they were not human.

3. There was no way she would need to speak to them.

"You look like you're gonna pass out any moment from now," she heard Jordan say beside her. Raina was sure she could pull this off and get the article submitted to McCabe before she was done with work that day and Jordan was not being any help at this point.

He had taken a random chair to sit close to her to annoy the hell out of her.

Raina could not tell exactly if it was the workload she had to do or it was the incident she had just gone through. That was what occupied every inch of her brain and was the reason she was finding it difficult to concentrate on her work. And if she was honest with herself, Jordan had nothing to do with what she was thinking.

"And you're not helping to avert that, are you?" Raina said as she furiously clicked on keys.

"I could, on second thought," Jordan said.

Raina sighed. "Please don't make any perverted suggestions. You could do that to someone else but I really have to focus right now." Raina did not bother to look up from her computer screen but she could already picture him narrowing his eyes at her.

"You think I'm a pervert?"

"Don't form words for yourself, Jord. And no, I don't think you are a pervert even though sure do act a lot like one. Just make your point, please."

"Fine. Let me take you out."

Raina sighed again. "Jordan."

"Just for you to lighten up. It doesn't have to mean anything, though." Jordan stated. "You're not my type anyway."

Okay, that made Raina look up from the screen, this time, her eyes narrowed at him. "I thought we have already established that. You don't have to rub it in my face, blondie lover."

"What did you just call me?"

"You know, because you always fall for blondies."

"Look, I'm just gonna ignore that," his face brightened again, "So, you up for it?"

Raina remembered that she had to meet up with Leslie Hale by 4pm so she certainly could not make it to whatever Jordan had in mind.

"No. I have to meet up with someone later in the day."

"Who's this guy that you have decided to choose over me? Give me details. Hair colour, eye colour, anything so I'll go look for him and make sure he won't make it to your date." Jordan said, jokingly.

"It's a girl, not a guy." Raina said, trying to suppress the laughter building up in her.

"Oh. I never knew you have any female friends."

Raina did not want to push the topic any further, "Just some long time college friend. We spilt up when we were still in freshman."

Raina had to admit that she was nervous meeting her long time ex best friend for the first time in six years after that strange incident happened on her eighteenth birthday. Deep down, she knew that Leslie was not at fault but she was too terrified to admit it. After that day, she wasn't sure what was normal again. What did Leslie-

"Over here!" A voice called out, disrupting her from her thoughts. She turned around to meet Leslie's gaze. Leslie had texted her to meet at a nearby coffee shop to discuss things.

Raina could see Leslie through the restaurant glass walls. Raina walked inside and spotted her at a far end. Leslie knew what she was doing. She had to discuss this privately so she had taken a serene spot in the restaurant.

Taking a seat opposite Leslie, she dropped her handbag on her lap. Leslie looked as though she had not even grown. She looked as she was back in college. She was a very pretty blondie and Raina could bet she was totally Jordan's type.

"You're late," Leslie said.

Was that was she was going to begin with? Not even a 'hey Raina' or 'long time, Raina'. She was already regretting this rendezvous.

"What do you want?" Raina asked, her face in a frown.

Leslie's face turned dead serious. "Forget everything you think you know up to this point."
