As expected, These bandits followed the path in anger but slightly slowed down when they realized they were heading back to their camp.
Well it is technically my camp now. They left their camp right open with only two sentries behind. They likely thought it to be either a freak accident that these men left, they deserted while running away with the women, or something else. Whatever the case, the second they left the camp, I just came straight in and took it for our own.
Siege warfare is much more difficult than open battle. And this boss of theirs made a big blunder in leaving his castle.
Now he's down 2 more men leaving 5 bandits and 4 wolves.
I would say that we have much better odds now.
Its been about 40 minutes since we got here. Not a lot of time to set up physical traps. But I am of course crafty.
______
Seeing the trail lead back to their camp, their leader named Jackal got even angrier.
He realized his folly at that moment. Unexpectedly though this cooled his head.
He's likely already assumed that the men he left behind were goners. This further lowered their chance at defeating us.
Walking into the camp it was eerily quiet. The bandits and wolves were in guard.
The ranger bandit slowly led the way in front with a wolf.
The trail of blood led straight to the bandits main hall.
They approached the shoddy building weapons in hand.
Jackal led the way in front at this point.
"Have a sentry guard the door. No one gets in or out. They think they can just steal from us then they got another thing coming."
I can hear them and I chuckle a bit. He thinks we dragged them out to steal. While not true I am interested in something.
He put his ear to the door and only heard the sound of giggles.
He then took his leg and bust open the door while charging in.
The bandits quickly followed in behind him.
The crew cut leader then quickly made eye contact with me. Looking at my smiling face and calm figure, he was more wary.
The bandits naturally fanned out looking for anyone else only to see that I was alone only with a sleeping wolf at the foot of the throne and a Raven on my shoulder.
The Jackal slowed down before me. He had a type of rapier on his right and something holstered in his left.
He smiled at me. "You got a lot a balls on you kid to mess with us. Where are your parents kid."
I looked at him, "you got a lot of balls raiding in the lost woods. Don't you know the Aesir would have your head."
He laughed at this, "the Aesir! You mean those barbarians that live in the mountain."
"Kid, these tribes days are numbered, son the holy kingdom will take everything and were just enjoying the scraps. Your precious forest will be turned into a wasteland by us"
So he spoke English... Interesting.
I put my hand on my chin, "I have never heard of a holy kingdom but I can tell you one thing"
The man saw a cunning look in my eye and became guarded.
I looked scary at this point, With a frown, I said, "You won't be leaving here alive."
I reached my finger and pointed at the floor.
______
Using my handy dandy axe which was conveniently lying next to the throne, I quickly launched a bolt at the floor which promptly blew up the floor.
A boom rang out tearing the building to sunder. My enemies flew into the air.
I had brought a special substance that caused this.
Gunpowder.
My favorite trick to pull.
Tiny explosions and loud sounds for distraction is all I have used it for. But thats not to say a little powder doesn't go a long way.
Remember that corrosive acid I made .
The ingredients to make it are found all over.
Their just acidic materials that have all been condensed together alchemically.
Before the raid I took the liberty of collecting a lot of it.
Now all I had to do is rig a tiny bomb using a gun power container and a bottle of acid.
It's honestly as simple as placing two easily shattered containers together tied by a rope.
Then I strategically place a few of them spread out over the floor.
Acid bombs. Plus this stuff is flammable.
The only thing I'm missing is a trigger which Iuckily have a trigger for.
Lighting is very good at igniting objects. Especially a floor filled with bombs conveniently lined close enough that one explosion would trigger another.
As the bombs went off, I converted my auto cannon spell into a large magnetic field protecting me which prevented any big problems but I had also placed the bombs far enough away that I wouldn't get hurt.
Because of that, the building hadn't collapsed but I count at least 4 wounded targets of 3 men and two wolves
And now the Jackal is lunging at me.
I actually had Leviateinn early on begin gathering the energy. That's why I didn't move from the chair and how I was able to launch lighting so quick.
The magnetic shield was strong enough to slow him down that an arrow coming from the entrance made his way into his shoulder.
With flames igniting the place, I figured this chaos would be the best opportunity to pull the old bait and switch.
With the jackal fully focused on me, how would he notice that as he walked into the building, our wolves and Nix were hiding behind the building so that they could ambush the survivors.
Easily clearing the sentry by knock out to not harm the wolf, these guys prepped for ambush. The rest of the crew inside would not have the honor of being ceremoniously knocked out.
We have no time to spare in trying to capture them at this point.
The wolves jumped through the burning flames launching themselves at the survivors. I had told them early to not bite the injured ones and only claw them to avoid ingesting any acid.
Nix was firing arrows from the door catching their leader unaware.
The tracking type bandit turned and began to aim at nix. This man was the rank 2 while the leader was also rank 2. Muninn was keeping me very informed and I could feel the energy of their soul through nature.
Seeing that the Jackal was about to reach me, Fenrir decided she would prepare a pounce.
I slid my hand back grabbing my weapon.
Jack gritted his teeth and swung only to be met by a huge shield.
"Leviateinn shield form!"
As he came in contact with the shield, Fenrir didn't delay and launched herself at Jackal, pinning him. He took a nice jab at his neck. He wasn't dead yet but certainly was injured.
"On the Ocean you'd be dead kid!"
I looked at this man as I walked up to him. He was prone on the floor with Fenrir pinning him.
He was built for speed not strength it seems like. He also lost his weapon.
I morphed my weapon into an axe again while my left hand swiped real quick launching two daggers.
These daggers stabbed into his right hand reaching for his weapon.
"There's no excuses for the dead."
Lifting my axe as I approached, I intended to finish him off quickly. Suddenly, I sensed a sound and quickly ducked for an arrow to go over my head.
His tracker buddy clearly saw I was intending on finishing this fight and shot an arrow my way.
I looked at the field and saw the wolves had pretty much taken care of most of the men in the ambush.
I saw Nix coming forward making sure no harm comes to them while the ranger is staring at me.
I telepathically tell Fenrir to finish jackal while I deal with the tracker.
My enemy looked to have the same idea as me. He dropped his bow and took out two short swords, readying a stance.
[Mortal Kombat!!]
He was a foot taller than I was but I had Nix to back me up.
[Fighters Ready!!!!]
Nix drew his bow, while I prepared my axe.
[FIGHTT!]
