Of course the first person I would tell was Cruise. It was about time I involved Park. Speaking of which stood at my door demanding answers.
A note he found deemed harder to explain than my expectations. Every word I spit out paved way for Park to jump into more conclusion. The whole war between us began with the name Beatrice Miller. He exclaimed ,"So she held a grudge.
Then I mentioned Lizzie McGuire ,"So you spent a night in his house for investigation. You planned all this to get close to Rouse"
Then I mentioned Crudentia,"When did the feud between you two start. She eventually won and you played as a sore loser."
Somehow I managed to stall him in order to mention Molly Cruise. He replies," Unbelievable a person of the law is involved in this. She has held on to your shananigans and you still believe that you're no one's suspect."
Briefly- according to his words - I was a running mad man.
The note read ," ...She had actions similar to Miller. I am not certain but Crudentia might be the person who I have been looking for"
His eyes screamed doubt. Not even a hug could cool the moment. Soon enough, I found myself kneeling - crying for him to believe me. His heart grew cold. I watched as he walked away.
I-on the other hand was left bowing to the crumbled piece of paper. Soon as he left ,It drizzled. However, I didn't mind the droplets of water falling on me. The drizzle turned into a shower.
It was about 6 p.m. I sure expected Rouse to drop by as he always does.
He had his bag filled with books. In the claims of studying for his exams under his father's consent.
I had finished brewing the tea and was done placing the two cups on the table. I hummed a tune. That was when he asked,"Day ,are you alright"
"Why?"
"What's bothering you ?"he replied
"I'm good" I said with a vague smile.
I sat down across him. The silence was broken by the flipped pages of the book.
(Sigh) Chapter two_ _ _
I had barely finished my sentence.
"Are you sure that you are okay? Tell me please"
His green eyes stared directly into my soul. I was busy drowning in the eyes whilst he searched my soul for clues.
"Can, I ask you something...."
" Is my name ever mentioned anywhere around school?"
"Why?"
" Just tell me"
".....Besides the whole scandal ; Nothing"
"And Crudentia"
"No one knows, Why does it bother you?"
He scooched closer, rubbed his hands all over my face and lastly shook my head as if cross -examining . This was surely a rare preview of his bunny side. He looked dead in my eyes.
"I am pretty sure humans aren't build to store acorns in their cheeks. I may hold a scientist convention to inform them of my great discovery. Wow! Amazing!a human who can store as many acorns as a chipmunk.Day? By any chance are you a mutant?"
I tried to hide my smile. In any moment I was sure to blow up in laughter. I wasn't vulnerable. At least , I tried to convince myself.
"Hello I would like to report a serious allegation, Yas ma'am I've found something may interest the science community. But first name your price."
I failed terribly. A laugh won't hurt.A smile will heal even if you fake it. Time passed and I felt like myself...again.
He sheepishly smiled and begged for me to live my woes behind. He earned a genuine smile from me.For once - in the gloomy days -I managed to gain true euphoria.
"Although your smile was for limited time. At least I can say that I made you happy. It's merely a distraction. I hope it helps."
I have observed his actions for a while. I wondered the questions that bothered me for sometime now. I was to take advantage of the good blood between us.
I flashed back to the day I stayed over at the Rouse's.I remembered the unsettling dinner . It was barely an amateur psychological study but Renée might have a delicate heart. There was no way of predicting his reaction to my question. Nonetheless it was a sensitive question.
"What's wrong?" He noticed my gaze.
" Nothing....Actually on the day ,I stayed in your residence. Why." I finally got his attention.
"Why did you....Why was your attitude different? "
"What do you mean?" He asked .I only prayed to the god's to help me approach the query better
" At the dinner table. Your sister -Apple had all the say. To make it worse ,Your parents supported her. I understand that you are siblings. But your actions resembled that of a maid with no close kinship". You were silent." He was all ears but dared not to utter a word. In fact he tried to run from my question.
"She is one year younger than you. Your parents are wealthy. How come both of you attend in different schools? How come you became anti - social around your family"
At this moment he prepared to leave. He just needed more time to escape my grasp.
"Tell me" I added.
