They removed their hoods one by one. I stood paralyzed from all familiar faces.
The assistant who came out as Lizzie McGuire. Molly Cruise felt like an ally who betrays.
The ever silent killer Miller made her appearance. Marienetta stood in the middle of his pack.
I looked at the one friend I had throughout my life span. She not dared to stare at my face. She hid behind the fine cotton of her hood' s cloak.
They left me in the dust, flooding the streets with salty tears. It never mattered how many times the tarmac took my fist or the the level of my bloody damaged knuckles. The world turned a blind. The harsh truth came to light whispering , "No one cares."
The dark gallway lit up in red and blue colours. Sirens deafened the deaf. Update to today, I stood behind the defense desk. And watched as the jury made their way. My cuffs felt uncomfortable. I couldn't bring myself to accept my fate.
The Rouse's sat across the room as plaintiffs. Behind them sat familiar faces- Mr. Mertin and my neighbour Ricky. They spend the few minutes before the court began to spread rumors. In some way or another, I felt ambushed. I had little to no pride to face the whole court.
The judge made his entrance. I was then eye to eye with her. She banged the mace and called the court in session. My nightmare officially began.
"Miss Day,You are aware of your accusations. A gross misconduct against your line of work. It's stated that you are a teacher in training gaining a bachelor's degree. Moreover seeking experience. You are indeed aware of how prohibited your act is ,aren't you?"
"Yes, I am aware your honor "
The solicitor came to me carrying the good news. It was my turn to give an oath. I kept her allegations in my mind as she answered the judges question. She broke down in crocodile tears.
"I am at atmost loving and caring person" she said," I invited her to my house the day before I realized that it was a big mistake. I couldn't agree more that her house was in a ramshackle when I drove for a visit. So I invited her as an apology"
She talked on and on over how betrayed she felt in the principle's office. The discussion- over a circulating scandalous picture of me and Renée. She ended by adding that chances run out and she gave me way too many chances.
My defendant considered her statement irrelevant. She only heard from a person who heard from another person. Not enough evidence.
Ricky's testifying almost saved me. Yet it felt like a sinister plot to dig me deeper to my grave. She confirmed to the court that my house was in great damaged. Greater damaged than imagined. She explain to the court that a damage like that couldn't be made by a robber. Afterall nothing went missing. She suggested that it could be done by someone who despises me so much that they went to great lengths .Their reward... my despair .
However, she indirectly mentioned Crudentia. With whom Mr. Mertin gave a statement for her. He put me in hit soup with his testimony. Despite the words he spoke, the court only managed to catch on with one sentence. "She was missing after exposing Miss Day"
My eyes melted on the pictures that played on the screen. Some of which I didn't recognize but knew how they got the pictures without my consent.
The judge gave a look to the court recorder .As if having a secret conversation. It was only when the court recorder nodded did he proceed with his question.
" Do you have a say Miss Day? "
" Yes,your honor" I tried my best to defend myself. I recalled some of the photos but others were foreign in my mind. " Some pictures are misunderstanding that were taken in awful timing. As for the rest,I can't recall when they were taken. As for Mrs. Crudentia,I deny ever harming. The thought of harming her never crossed my mind"
The defendant advocate made it clear that his purpose here was to destroy me. "Your honor, I would like to ask the defendant a query" He turned to me with a fierce expression." Explain why you were there when the body was discovered? Was it a coincidence? "
I fell short of words. I could only pray for a miracle.
My advocate asked for permission. His trial in getting the judge's attention rendered futile.
"Let her answer?Miss Day"
" To offer an apology, I plea innocent, your honor"
" Weren't you anguished" I heard my advocate opposing his question at the back. All the judge could do was inform us of the fifteen minute break before we continue with the case.
Marie Dawn gave a glare that reminded me that she won.
My advocate advices me to tell the truth once the break was offer. He suggested this on the account of the proverb 'The truth will set you free'.
The judge asked again. My answer,"To search for answers "
"Answers for why she made your life miserable?"Miss Rouse's advocate asked.
"Yes, On why she sent me notes"
" We're they threatening?" He asked.
"No they were not. But they did tamper with my mental health for a while. I am innocent your honor."
I realize that I sounded unreasonable. She made her verdict. Speechless or rather frozen to the ground.Maybe emotionless. The only fact that I couldn't change was the years in confinement awaiting me.
The huge walls with barbed wire restricted freedom. The well-bodied (certainly but just assumed) corrupt officer breathing at your neck with every move you make. Lastly, picture a world where the only population is you. I sank deeper into the depressed thought. I was surrounded ,however, I preferred loneliness. In a world where chives are legalized- I can only imagine.
Believe me,I hadn't even set foot in that world yet.Nonetheless, nothing was to stop my functioning heart from beating in fret. Regardless, the cold harsh truth of reality was going to jail was my only destination.
*My conclusion*
Despite ,the unfair plot against me.(Also not to forget a well crafted plan )She succeeded in making my life miserable(I speak of Marie Dawn).Now...I not only serve for misconduct but a bad reputation.Tell me ,How can I murder a person who doesn't exist. A shame that no one knows that Crudentia and Beatrice Miller are one in the same person.
