The name math-witch repeated in Tess's head as she stood frozen. Seriously, what was in that big head of his? Mocking his Mid-Sentry education was the perfect comeback, but she was going to be the mature one.
She blinked out of her trance and looked at Lanse through his black shades. "Keep your money," she told him. "I already know how much you have–minus the five dollars too."
She looked away and began calculating in her head. The screams of excitement nearby forced her to begin flipping her paper notes. But the heavy breathing at the back of her neck forced her to stop and turn to the jerk.
"How do you expect me to concentrate with you breathing down my neck?"
Lanse looked away and mumbled, "Never trust a Syb-victim with your money."
