Young Tess had just darted around to see Jeremy crash into the ground coughing out blood. The metal bat that slipped out of the MS off's hand smacked into one of the walls. But her terrified eyes didn't shift from Jeremy.
Jeremy yelled with his bloody nose inches from the ground. "Tess, run!"
His shaky shrill that slapped her ears got all her five senses to explode with alertness. But she froze.
Jeremy looked up from the ground but didn't get to lock his eyes on hers. The thick boot with a metal front met his face first with a loud whoop. His blond bangs flipped to one side of his face with a loud crick.
"Jeremy!" Tess heard her younger self scream.
Tess's brows only knitted together from watching that memory. There was no pain at the heart, no shiver, nor tears rushing down her cheeks. Those usually happened and it reminded her she was still in a dream and needed to wake up.
