The shuffles from Snickers' cage broke the silence after Zack spoke. If he was correct, there was a monster in their living complex growing super-fast. Soon it would tower over them.
"Are you sure it's not a Sybervirian?" Zino asked, her voice still shaky.
"It isn't," Zack answered her. "The egg I mistook for a pebble must have been from the Leak we faced today." He nodded with a hand under his chin. "Yes, that explains why it can disappear and vanish as well."
Lanse stared hard at the ground. The muscles bulging at his temples got hidden by his damp hair stuck to his skin from sweat. He was biting down too hard on his lower jaw.
Szedra held the cage with Snickers inside with both her hands. Only the yellow bars of the cage separated her from her precious. Since that monster wasn't a Sybervirian that only ate humans, Snickers had to be protected.
