Tess didn't stop running after she stepped through the vortex. Her hurried mind couldn't make out the blurry new faces, but there were no bright hair colors to demand her focus.
The heavy heartbeats in her empty head faded. The distant murmur from thousands of voices, horns, and engine noises she knew came only from the city.
The smells of fast food cracked the ice barrier in the front of her mind telling her she was still trapped at Primus. Lightness filled her chest and a smile stretched onto her face.
She blinked to see the detailed beauty through her watery eyes. Everything switched to the wide room with soldiers wearing green-themed battle suits. All their fiery eyes glared at her.
"What the?"
She froze to prevent running into one of the Primus soldiers that had glowing eyes and symbols around their hands.
Crap. She had run through a vortex that appeared microns from her eyelids. The smile on her face shrank at the realization.
