Szedra's question about the Mid-Sentry piqued Tess's curiosity, causing her to momentarily pause turning her marshmallow stick. She held the stick before her face, the marshmallow blocking Lanse's eyes, and a mischievous smile played on her lips as the rising steam appeared to rise from his head.
"You've been to the Mid-Sentry?" Tess asked, her voice tinged with disbelief.
Lanse nodded, his expression serious. "Yeah, and people do die there," he replied.
Tess took a bite of the marshmallow, still intrigued. "Well, of course people die there. What kind of question is that?" she retorted.
Zack chimed in, reminiscing about his father's stories. "My dad used to tell me stories about the Mid-Sentry back in his days," he shared. "It was when they still used motorized bicycles. I can't recall any specific stories, though."
Lanse reached for his tablet, a sign of his growing boredom.
