"Hey, you wild animal!" Lanse's voice boomed, cutting through the tumultuous gusts. "Why don't you come over here and try to act civilized?"
Tess's heart skipped a beat upon hearing Lanse's voice so clearly amidst the roaring winds. It felt like a knife piercing through her chest. She abruptly halted her sprint, allowing her arms to drop to her sides, realizing that he had indeed heard her wild screams.
