Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

Back at the castle

"Your Majesty Iris and the rest of the party have returned." Said one guard.

"I see. Let them in then." Said the queen. Rex walks into the throne room. "Your majesty we have returned." Said, Rex.

"Where are Iris and Arc? I thought they will be with you." Said the Queen. "They are with my sisters right now." Said, Rex.

"Why are they with your sisters?" Asked the Queen.

"They have not seen their children in a will, so they went to my house." Said, Rex.

Knock Knock.

"Come in." Said the Queen. The doors to the throne room opened and Wern walked through.

"It is good to see you. Your majesty." Said, Wern.

"Ah. You are finally up." Said the Queen.

"Yes. I am finally up, and it looks to me you are in deep waters right now." Said, Wern.

"How did you know that?" Asked Rex.

"A hunch you could say." Said, Wern.

"I see. So, what do you have planned?" Asked the Queen.

"Yes, I have a plan, but for it to work I will need the strongest metal you got." Said, Wern. The queen thinks.

"The strongest metal that we have is cryoll. A metal that if heated explodes." Said the Queen.

"That will work. Please give me the time I will make a weapon that will help with the evil that plagues this world." Said, Wern.

"Your majesty, I must take my leave then." Said, Rex.

"I must take my leave, too." Said, Wern.

Will they be talking?

"Well. What are we going to do?" Asked Iris.

"Good question. I don't know right now," I said.

"Well, we could look at more of the capital. Since the last time, all we saw was this place and the adventure's guild." Said Iris.

"Ok let us go see the right of the capital." I said.

"We will go with you." Said Grace and Alice. We set off to see the rest of the capital.

"What is that place?" Said Iris. Pointing to what looked like a cathedral. "That is the Wake cathedral." Said Grace.

"I See. I guess the reason it is called Wake is that it is on a cliff over the water?" Asked Iris.

"That is correct." Said a voice. Looking at the cathedral. We saw someone standing there.

"You must be the delegates that came from the Kingdom of Grey. Oh! Where are my manors? My name is Luke. The head priest here." Said, Luke.

"It is ok. We kind of can buy finances, so no need to worry." Said Grace. "Ok. If you want to, you can come into the cathedral." Said, Luke.

"No. Not today, but thank you anyway," I said. We moved. Just as we were about to round a corner. Bang.

"Ow, my head." Someone said. "Are you alright?" Asked Grace.

"Yes, I am fine." I said. Turning to the person on the ground.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"I have no name." Said the person.

"Then what do you aspire to be called?" I asked. Turning to Grace. "Does this kingdom believe in slavery?" I asked.

"No. We do not believe in that nor tolerate it." Said Grace. Turning to the person on the ground.

"May I know if you ran away from someone or something?" Asked Grace. "Someone.." Said the person. Hiding.

"Do you want to show who that person is?" Asked Iris.

"Welp where are you?" Said, someone.

"Please help me. If he finds me, he will do things for me. I rather not say." Said the slave. Looking at Grace.

"What should we do?" I asked.

"Take her to the castle." Said Grace.

At the Castle

"Who is this?" Asked the Queen.

"A slave that ran into me." I said.

"This kingdom has no slaves. I do not allow it. We don't even do commerce with the Kingdoms that have slavery." Said the Queen.

"Then what do you want us to do with her?" I asked. Turning to the girl.

"How old are you?" Asked the Queen.

"I am ten, your majesty," Said the girl.

"Where are you from?" Asked the Queen.

"I am from the kingdom of Crystal your majesty," Said the girl. Looking at Grace.

"That is one country that we do not trade with?" Asked the Queen. "Yes, your majesty, and if I may speak openly?" Asked Grace.

"Yes, you may Grace." Said the queen.

"Thank you, your majesty. It looks to me that this girl fears someone. If that person is here now, they will want her back." Said Grace.

"What do you have in mind?" Asked the Queen.

"Why don't we get her out of there?" Said Grace.

"If I remember correctly and I do. That kingdom is ruthless, killing the men or enlisting them, and taking the women." Said the Queen.

"Yes, and we can say to whoever that person is that they are not allowed here." Said Grace.

"What about the girl?" I asked.

"Take her to your chambers and wait there." Said the Queen.

"Come with me and Iris." I said, holding out his hand.

" Where are you taking me?" Asked the girl.

"Some place safe." Said Iris. They left through the door and headed to the guest chambers.

"Your majesty the slave trader is here to see you," Said one guard. "Bring him in." Said the Queen. Bowing to the queen

"Your majesty, have you seen a little welp anywhere?" Asked the slave trader.

"If I did I would not tell you, because no slave is trading around my kingdom. My mother outlawed it when she was on the throne." Said the queen. "I see, so you would not mind if I looked around this place?" Asked the slave trader.

"No, I do not allow that. Further, if you did that I would have no choice but to throw you into the dungeon." Said the queen.

"I see if you see a girl please tell me right away," said the slave trader. "If you try looking I gave the order to the guards to deal with you." Said the queen.

"I heard you loud and clear." Said the Slave trader. Thinking to himself.

"Even though I have no intention of following what we agreed on." Said the queen. Arc looked at the slave trader. Thinking to himself.

"What is he thinking?" Thought Arc.

"Your majesty." I said.

"Yes, what is it Arc?" Asked the Queen.

"I think this slave trader is not telling you the truth, your majesty," I said. "How so?" Asked the queen.

"I am not sure, but I will read his mind or something," I said. "How can this be only... dragons can read minds…." Said the Slave trader as he realized that the person who said that was a dragon.

"So, what are you going to do?" I asked.

"You can have that welp she is useless to me, anyway." Said the slave trader. The slave trader left the castle. More.

like running out.

"Arc. What are you going to do with the girl?" Asked the Queen.

"I don't know right now, but I will let you know," I said. He bowed to the Queen and left the throne room.

"Arc, what did the queen say?" Asked Iris.

"She put the girl into my care." I said.

"That is weird but ok." Said Iris. "Yes, it is weird. I could not agree with you more." I said.

"So, what do you want us to do about the girl?" Asked Iris.

"Well, it looks like she likes to take care of the little one." I said.

"That is true. She likes to take care of him." Said Iris. Turning to the girl.

"Would you like to stay with us?" I asked. The girl just nodes her head "Yes. We need to get her to learn how to read and write." Said Iris.

"Yes, but where do we do that?' I asked.

"As while as the commander of the guard, I am also a teacher." Said Grace. "Jeez, you do a lot around the castle." I said.

"Yes, because someone has to." Said Grace.

"I see. So what do you think?" Asked Iris.

"What I think is let me take care of her so that you do not have to." Said Grace.

"Ok." I said. Turning to Iris.

"What now?" I asked.

"Well, I guess we see how else will join this alliance." Said Iris.

"True you don't want to sit around and do nothing." Said Grace.

"Then Where should we start?" I asked.

"The Independent Kingdom of Glass." said Grace.

"Can you show us on a map where that is?" Asked Iris.

"Yes, I can show you on a map. If you can follow me to the captain's quarters." Said Grace.

"So, the map is there?" I asked.

"Yes, and If I can say something. The captain's there is well…" Said Grace.

"Well, what? Don't leave us hanging." I said.

"They still don't think it is an idea that we allied with you." Said Grace.

"What would help them see we are not here to harm you?" Asked Iris. "Let me think. Oh, I know how about making them something nice? The stress that a massive war is about to happen is making them stressed out." Said Grace. "So this is the Captain's quarters. It looks different from the barracks that your brother showed us," I said.

"Yes, it will be different. This building is for high-ranked soldiers, not recruits or soldiers that are starting." Said Grace.

"What the heck! What are those two from the kingdom of Gery doing here? Commander, if the queen asked to lock them in the dungeon I will take them there personally." Said one captain.

"At ease, Drake. The queen did not order any of that. I am showing them where the Independent Kingdom of Glass is." Said Grace.

"Oh, I see if you wish," Said the captain.

"Seems to me you have many people that dislike that this kingdom is allied with me," I said.

"Yes, but it is not like they can go against the queen's wishes." Said Grace. "I get that. So where is this map you told us about?" I asked.

"Right here." Said Grace. Pointing to a gigantic map in the middle of the room. "This map is huge. "I said.

"Yes, and right on the west side of the continent is the Independent Kingdom of Glass," Said Grace.

"That is close to the kingdom of grey. Though there is a mountain range right in the middle between the two." I said.

"Yes, and the route that is in between the two is home to bandits." Said Grace.

"If I remember correctly the bandit leader's camp is there." Said Iris.

"True. So it will be hard to get there," Said Grace.

"Especially since it looks to be the only direct way to our destination." I said.

"Iris, say here your father will not like it if you get yourself killed." I said.

"That makes sense and on top of that he will hate you for eternity." Said Iris.

"Ya, I don't want to deal with that." I said.

"May I suggest something?" Said Grace.

"Yes, what is your suggestion?" I said.

"We take twenty soldiers with us," Said Grace.

"Do you think that is enough?" I asked.

"True, we don't know the size of the bandit camp, so let's do some recon first." Said Grace.

"The question is who to send to do the recon?" I said.

"I will send the recon squad. "Said Grace.

"Do you know what area to send the recon squad to?" I asked.

"Yes, I know where to send them to. For your information, this kingdom the kingdom of glass is on terms." Said Grace.

"So when you mean recon you mean delegates." I said.

"Indeed, and we have to know who is going so that the knights can protect them." Said Grace. Looking Arc dead in the eyes.

"I see. I guess the Queen will get that in order then." Sadi Iris. "Yes, that said I don't know if they will allow you two to come into the gates." Said Grace.

"That makes sense, but what might be discussed is what is happening right now," I said.

"In any case, we must wait on what the queen has to say." Said Grace. As she left the room.

"True, we have to wait on her majesty's decision." I said.

"So, what do we do now?" Asked Iris.

"We wait and see what happens next." I said.

"I see your point. We will wait and see what the Queen has in mind." Said Iris. Irritated that she had to stay behind even though she wanted to go.
