Dad returned to the dining room, shortly after James came down too and as we were going to have dinner, the doorbell rang and I stood up to get it but dad stopped me and he want to get the door, shortly after that he returned with a bag in his hand. He sat down placing the bag on the ground, then my mom asked him "What's in the bag Darling?" he stirred blankly at my mom before answering "Well it's something from work" mom looked at he suspiciously before simply say "Okay". We all ate dinner in silence, after we were done my dad spoke " Congratulations my love, I had about your election" he said smiling, then James mumbled under his breath "Who haven't heard" rolling his eyes he stood up and left the dining room.
" My love don't let your brother's words get to you" my mom said after since the sad look on my face. My dad stood up with the bag to walk towards me smiling "This is for you" he said handing the bag to me, opening the bag my eyes widened in surprise before I raised my head to look at him then to look at my mom "Ahhhh!" I exclaimed jumping up and hugging my dad tightly before placing a kiss on his cheek. Mom my looked at us with saying anything, when I was done hugging my dad then I grinned widely and looked at my mom "Mom, dad got me a laptop can u believe that?" James who was in the kitchen came out to look at us and was about to walk away when I spoke to him "James dad got me a laptop" then he turned to look at me before turning towards the stairs " young man I believe your sister is talking to you" my dad spoke with a thick tone, but James just went up the stairs without replying. I felt sad that he didn't even comment on my present. Then my mom walked up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder " Don't feel sad honey, his probably having a bad day" she said giving me a reassuring smile, I smiled back before enveloping her I a hug which she gladly recipocate "I'll go speak to him" I said before heading towards the stairs. "That kid is going to be the death of me I swear" my dad said making my mom chuckle

"James, can I come in?" I said behind the door and he just said "Whatever" I walked in and saw him laying on his bed starring at the ceiling, I walked towards him and layed next to him on the bed "what do you want?" He asked hashly I cocked my head to look at him before responding "Ouch!!" I exclaimed holding my chest "I would have been hurt by your coldness if it were a few minutes ago" I said before chuckling to gain me a glare from him "are you angry because of dad's present?" I asked innocently but he just stood up and was about to leave before I held his hand "You know we're always here for you, right?" I said smiling at him, he just stared at me blankly with no visible emotions "And you can always count on me" I said this to see him look at me with surprise "but I've always been rude to you" he said sitting back on the bed "It doesn't matter you'll always be my big brother no matter what you do or say to me" this time I hugged him and to my surprise he returned the hug, he didn't push me away, to this smiled "Don't let mom and dad nor grandpa and grandma know this but you're my favorite person in the family" I whispered into his ears and he laughed heartedly which I have never seen or heard before " Wow, you should laugh more often, I had it makes you younger" I said teasing him and then a frown came to his face which made me regret my words "So are you trying to say am old?" I just stared at him before I heard his laughter again the second time in one day I thought to myself before smiling.
