Synopsis
Born into an ordinary family, Rav, who always looked up to disciples and benders, hopes he can change his family's fate by entering a bending academy. However, his hopes were quickly crushed as they deemed his talent trash. With this, they said he would only be able to reach slightly more than a non-bender's strength. Others deemed him useless and called him "The Crippled Bender." With nowhere else to go, he decided to go to the non-bender corps to hone his strength but one day, a strange phenomenon happened which put his life in danger. However, just as he was a bout to give up, a strange silhouette saved him. He woke up in his own room with his eyes only being able to see one thing. Chapter 1 - Rav Ki

In a world full of beasts and human who can bend elements by will, a seemingly frail leaf can even become a weapon which rivals a steel knife or even wind can become as heavy as stone.

This is a place where this type of power is respected and honored. The people who are known as lords and nobles can only stay there with this power.

This is why every man or woman wishes to have a great talent and elemental affinity.

It was early in the morning, the sun was rising which was shrouded by the dark clouds which poured down a light drizzle.

In a small neighborhood, a small one-story bungalow style house could be seen with a handsome chestnut haired young man staring outside the square-shaped window with an excited look in his azure blue eyes.

This house couldn't be considered poor but it was also couldn't be considered luxurious. At most it would be considered above average.

The young man who was inside the house's name was Rav. He stared outside the window while looking into the rainy sky.

For some odd reason, he found watching the rain outside to be extremely entertaining and exciting but this wasn't the only reason for his excitement.

Tomorrow was the potential element test. This test would gauge a person's potential or talent in the art of bending or even elemental creation.

Though having a high potential might not necessarily mean that he/she will become a powerful figure in the future, they will have more of an advantage than others in their cultivation speed and they will also be able to get through cultivation thresholds easier.

The reason why he was so excited about this test was because he always looked up to the powerful figures of his continent. These powerful people could even split the seas with just a wave of their hand or even crush mountains with a snap of the fingers

They could even kill the most terrifying beasts with their abilities and due to this, they were respected and revered everywhere but most importantly they had immense wealth due to their power.

Although Rav wasn't poor by any means and wasn't exactly greedy, he was still curious and wanted to live lavishly like the people he looked up to but he knew that to be like them, he needed to work hard and most importantly achieve a decent result in tomorrow's exams.

Because of these thoughts, the look in his face was full of vigor but also anxiousness. However his focus was quickly ruined by two footsteps who opened the door to his room,

"Heya Rav, ya look like your about to explode with excitement with that face your making there."

A middle-aged man walked into his room with a teasing expression full of happiness. This was his joking father Ren Ki.

"Of course dad, I mean like who wouldn't be excited if they would have a chance to have superhuman strength,... though I am a bit worried that I won't be able to get a decent result..."

Seeing the anxious expression written on his son's face, his father decided to raise his confidence up a bit.

"Well knowing the hard-headed and stubborn kid that you are, I doubt you'll get anything bad"

After a short pause, he continued,

"Besides it's pretty clear that we already know that your elemental affinity is water or is at least related to it because your eyes are practically glued to the window whenever it rains, so don't be too worried, ok."

Indeed having an attraction to an object or element could be a sign of an affinity towards it. Examples are if you have a fire affinity, you would be attracted to heat or if you had a wind affinity, you would want to feel the fresh breeze.

It was said that there were only two causes for this. It was either he had an extremely high sensitivity to his affinity which wouldn't affect his talent which means that someone with bad talent can still have this or he had a high potential or talent.

Obviously his father was saying that it was most likely the latter of the two to cheer his son up.

"Thanks dad, I'll hope for a good result"

After this, they both chatted for a few more minutes about things like his dad's experience in the test and what he had to expect, along with a few special procedures if he was a special case.

(AN: this'll be explained in the second chapter)

"Alright, I got to go now or I'll be late for work."

His dad was working as a construction worker and he would have to work from morning until late afternoon. He didn't want to be late because they would deduct his pay. Though the pay deduction wouldn't necessarily be large, he needed as much money as he could to provide for him and his son after his wife divorced him.

"Bye Dad"

Rav said before turning his head from his father back to the window.

"Bye Rav, Also don't be too stressed about getting a good result or not, just know that no matter what I'll still be here and I'll at least give you some food to eat."

Ren said with a serious but also warm expression on his face before walking towards the door and leaving Rav's room.

'Haa, I can only hope that I get a good enough result in the tests tomorrow to be able to attend one of the bending academies'

Rav thought with a flickering fire of determination on his face. The reason that Rav was so hell-bent on entering one of the prestigious bending academies was because the school would give expensive resources to all of their students so they could grow stronger.

Of course the amount of resources a student would receive could vary depending on his/her amount of potential/talent along with how good his/her element would be.

Rav wasn't hoping on getting an extremely powerful element as he somehow already knew deep inside he would get an affinity which leaned towards water.

A few moments after his dad left, he decided to go outside since the drizzle had already stopped and he wanted to inspect the rain droplets closer.
