I don't know if people really followed me or not. Kaven's sensitivity to special particles has its own limits.
'I can only trust the books I read so far.'
People will surely follow a mysterious lad. It happens in all books and though this is my reality now, it should follow the laws of the books... I hope.
So, I was really surprised to see a few shadows coming out from the darkness. One was an old man with a relaxed smile, beside him is a similarly relaxed child and there's also a grandma-looking person smiling like them beside the child.
Three.
'Based on their aura, they all feel like unique-types... but something's wrong.'
Unique-type wasn't something I can tell in just a feel of the special particles. But this one was oozing with something I can't tell.
"Good evening," I greeted them with a smile.
The three of them didn't flinch or got or commented on the smile unlike Polly, Jashan, or Ilya's plant. No, they even maintained their relaxed smile that seems even more relaxed than earlier.
The grandmother spoke first.
"The black-haired kid is starting an offense-core team. But unlike him, the pink-haired kid is starting a defense-core team. Both of them are focused on field jobs."
Then the grandfather.
"The green-haired woman is solely focused on a variety of request-work, the most normal and flexible out of the current three factions."
The child then spoke.
"We are curious what kind of faction you'll be making."
I stared at them for a little more and then observed their faces. I can really feel that something is off but... ah, I see. That's what it was.
"Ha!"
I scoffed and shook my head.
"What an interesting ability."
The three of them flinched before smiling like they were relaxed once again. They nodded in agreement with me.
"As expected, you seem different from them."
'Yes, in more ways than one.'
I wanted to say that but I stopped myself. Doing that isn't gonna be any good for me at this point. I was planning to construct an elite team but if it's like this then there would be no need to do so.
"Where are you?"
Their smiles.
Their relaxed demeanor.
It felt similar... too similar.
The reactions happened at the same time too, very similar to each other as if they were all connected to one person.
"Where is the real you?"
The three laughed together.
"I am not going to say that easily."
"...I see."
Whoever this person is, I need him or her in my plans. It could be said that he or she is just playing with me and doing this out of curiosity but the fact that he or she is curious could also mean that he or she is interested.
I need that person.
'But no cool character begs, right?'
So, I smiled.
"We will meet soon. I will find you. Let's talk longer by then since your time is almost up."
I looked at the three people who were turning into clay and melting to the ground like lava. As I expected, none of them were the 'real' body.
'Marionette? Puppet?'
I kept thinking of the ability as I walked to the center of the ship. It was time to publicly show myself in public.
I've heard of that ability before in the book but that's an extra character from the... oh, no. Nope. No, I'm not going to think about it.
"I'm sure it's just a coincidence."
I gulped as I made my way to the huge doors.
The bad feeling I got started to worsen as I stepped inside. I looked around and saw Jashan walking up to me. His face showed confusion as he switched his eyes from me to the scene outside the ship.
"Hyung, is this the one you said you'll prepare earlier?"
I quickly answered, "No."
Then I looked outside.
I was thinking too hard to notice it while walking. But I was seeing something that should not be here in summer. Actually, it should not have been here in the first place.
It looks so unnatural in more ways than one.
"What the hell is happening?"
"Whoa! Snow in the summer!"
"But it's purple!"
People started to flock around us so they didn't see my eyes turn to daggers as I stared into the snowflakes falling from the sky.
