Violet had to stay on the hospital for a couple of days because the doctor wanted to run some tests on her.
They could still not believe that Jane's spine injury was miraculously healed. Not only that, her fractured leg was now okay and in fact, she could stand and walk with no assistance. As if the accident didn't happen to her at all!
"Doctor, I told you that there's no need to run some tests on me. It's only a waste of money. I'm fine, am I not? My lab results have came back negative, am I right?" Violet talked to her doctor.
Though Mrs. Sanchez would come to the hospital to keep her company and made her not bored, the latter had more important things to do.
And besides, she still had siblings waiting for Mrs. Sanchez on their town. Mrs. Sanchez had been away for three months since the accident. And seeing her Mama's face, Violet knew that she was also worried for her two other siblings.
But Mrs. Sanchez would not go home unless she would be discharge from the hospital.
"Mama, please tell her that I am okay now. I can even run a marathon should you allow me to join now." Violet stubbornly said.
"Doctor Lopez. Are you really sure that nothing's wrong with my Jane? That she's fine now?"
"That is what her test results are telling us. Her bone scans showed no traces of fracture. Even her broken spine which we predicted would make her to be unable to move her entire lower body is okay now. It is as if a miracle happened!" Dr. Lopez explained still in disbelief.
Even Violet was surprised to hear it. When she woke up, she could not feel her legs at all. And also, she felt sore all over. That's why she thought that a mortal's body was so weak.
But the next day, all the fatigue she felt from the first day were gone. And she could feel her legs again.
"Then, I should go home. I still have classes to attend to. I want to graduate this semester Mama." Violet had no choice but to persuade her mother.
"My daughter is in her senior year in the University and will be graduating this semester. So I hope if nothing's really wrong you won't delay her any longer? And besides, though Mrs. Shaw had volunteered to shoulder all of her medical expenses, we didn't want to abuse her kindness at all." Mrs. Sanchez told Doctor Lopez.
"Alright. If this afternoon's test would once again turn back negative, then, I'll sign her discharge form tomorrow."
"Thank you, Doctor Lopez!" Violet happily said as her purplish eyes were sparkling with joy in them.
When Doctor Lopez finally left, Mrs. Sanchez sat beside her daughter and asked, "Are you really sure you are fine?"
She asked as she herself could not believe what the doctor had told her for three days now.
"Mama, I'm really fine. Maybe I have recovered and healed all of my injuries while I am still on a comatose." Violet told her hoping that she would believe it.
What Jane or Violet was so eager to find out was that what did this ring on her right index finger which the Hermit had given to her had something to do with this?
She didn't realize this at first when she tried to meditate but now she saw that the ring had become shinier compared to when she saw it when she woke up.
She believed that this ring must have been the reason why Jane's body was healed instantly. Or if this ring was the reason why she arrived in Jane's body.
What had happened to her body in the past really that she could not be able to use magic anymore?
And another question that was running in her mind was that, was it only her soul that had transmigrated? What happened to her body then? And most importantly, why did Jane looked exactly just like her?
How was this world related to her past world then?
Seeing that she was lost in her thought, Mrs. Sanchez gently tapped her shoulder making her to flinch in reaction.
"Is something bothering you? You have been spacing out lately." She asked her as she was worried.
Violet could feel and read Mrs. Sanchez's thoughts, too.
"Nothing Mama. I'm just thinking about school and about how many people have seen my true appearance. What if...."
"Shh! Don't mind it okay? Mrs. Shaw have agreed to hide this little secret of ours. I told you that I'll protect you, didn't I? As long as I am alive, no one could harm you."
What Mrs. Sanchez meant was the bad guys chasing after Jane. She was sure that that woman must still be looking for Jane.
'Oh dear Jane. Don't worry, I will not let that woman to hurt us.' Violet vowed deep down.
In order for her to protect herself, Violet thought that she must be stronger. She tried to scan on Jane's memory for any important and useful information.
Her eyes then glimmered when she saw something.
Seeing that her daughter was once again spacing out, Mrs. Sanchez excused herself as she'd go home to bring a new set of change of clothes for her and also her lunch.
Violet knew what her mother was thinking the moment the latter touched her hand to bid farewell and she somehow felt a bit sad.
Thought the hospital had food for the patients, Violet didn't like the taste after she tasted her Mama's dishes.
Good thing Mrs. Sanchez didn't question her behavior because as she recalled, Jane was quite a picky eater.
So her reaction was quite normal.
Well in her world, they had food pills which would make them not to be hungry for weeks.
And she realized that the food in their kingdom would fade in comparison when it comes to the food in this world.
"Mama, it's okay. You can come back later. Take a rest at home. I'll eat the hospital food instead."
"Are you sure?" She hesitated for a while.
"Yes. I think this would be my last hospital lunch meal as I'm sure that I'll be discharged this afternoon or tomorrow." Jane said.
"Just come back during dinner time and don't bring much clothes. You're body's not that strong like how it used to in the past. Don't mind me as I am fine. Please do take a rest Mama."
"Alright! I'll do what you say."
With that, Mrs. Sanchez left her hospital room.
Left alone inside the room, she then got up and sit on the bed in a lotus position.
She was glad that no one had come to her room for the entire afternoon to disturb her meditation.
It was already dark when she opened her eyes.
Seconds later, she heard footsteps coming from the hallway and it got stronger as it drew nearer.
Moments later, Mrs. Sanchez showed up and with Dr. Lopez following her.
"The results are out. They're all normal. I can sign her discharge papers tomorrow." Dr. Lopez said.
"No. Make it today. I'm really getting bored being stuck in here!" she complained.
Dr. Lopez understood her and reluctantly agreed on her requests.
While Mrs. Sanchez was processing on her discharge slip, the latter had taken a shower and then changed into her usual disguise.
"Should really that be necessary?" Mrs. Sanchez immeditely asked after she saw her back into her country bumpkin disguise.
Yes, since young, she did aske Jane to wear wigs to hide her hair and also asked her to wear glasses so other people might not focus on her eyes but she never told her to paint her skin tan.
"Yes. If I won't do this, then, even if I hide my hair and turned myself ugly, I will still have to have a hard time studying at school with a bunch of admirers following me." She simply explained as if what she said was an inside joke.
But as Mrs. Sanchez looked at her intently, her heart fluttered and a warm smile crept on her lips.
"My baby is no longer a baby. You have grown up into a fine young lady!" Because of this, she could not hold back her tears as she came and hug her.
When Mrs. Sanchez embraced her, she could feel and also hear what was inside her mind. She realized that this was Jane's gift which the latter treated as a curse since birth. But actually, it wasn't. It's such a pleasant gift to be exact.
She was still not used to this maternal warmth after all. But instead of repulsing against it, Violet in Jane's body chose to embrace it.
"Mama." She sighed when she felt Mrs. Sanchez's little sob.
Mrs. Sanchez then broke off the hug and said, "You are a grown woman now and might introduce a future son-in-law to me. Then would have children of your own in the near future."
'Children, husband, love' Violet was once again lost in her thought as she recalled that.
Remembering her past life, love was the cause of why she had turned that way. It was her love for that man who never even spared her any second thoughts that killed her in the end.
Therefore, in this life, she will never fall in love again.
She heaved a sigh after she realized that this Jane also had the same sentiments when it comes to love.
Because of Love, Jane's biological mother had chose to end her own life and left the young Jane alone in the den of greedy wolves.
What helped Jane to survive was this gift that she hated ever since she had discovered that she had it.
