"Hello Miss Jane, the Young Master heard that you have moved in a new dorm room so he instructed me to buy these items for you to save you with the trouble." Phil said awkwardly as Violet only stared at him.
Violet was looking at him in a daze. Phil then cleared his throat and continued.
"Where should I place these Miss Jane?" He asked her.
"Oh. Come in. Please place it in the counter. I'll arrange them after." She instructed.
"Okay Miss Jane." Phil smiled at her.
"And oh, Phil? Please do just call me Jane. We're working on the same employer anyways." She said casually.
"But...young master." Phil wanted to oppose but Violet was stubborn.
"Come on! I insist. I'm the tutor he hired for little Celeste and I'll be working there starting next week so please don't be so formal with me. I'm not used to people addressing me formally." She added.
"Oh..okay J-ane." He said.
"That sounds better." She beamed.
She thought that Phil would be leaving so she wanted to send him off but she was surprised to hear that there were still things left downstairs that he had to bring upstairs.
"Oh, please tell Mr. McWilliams to deduct these from my first salary."
"But..." Phil felt like having a head ache at the moment. His young master told him that she should accept it for free.
"There's no 'but' here Phil. I should have bought everything from the money I have received as the hiring bonus. I don't want to owe him Phil. I haven't even started working for him yet here I am, enjoying this? I want everything that I have to be earned from my efforts and not simply handed to me on a silver platter." She stressed.
'Young Master, goodluck!' Phil thought because he knew that if his young master would woe this woman, it would take him a lot of efforts and patience to make her bend.
But then he realized something.
'No! Goodluck to me!' Since he's the bridge that his young master would be using to reach to her. Phil suddenly felt like crying as he thought of it.
'Young Master please have mercy!' He thought while crying in front of Mr. McWilliams.
"Jane. Have pity on me will you? I'll be in a tight position, too." He honestly told her.
Violet heaved a sigh as she knew that her request would put Phil in a tough spot, too.
"I'm sorry...but at least try to persuade him." She said.
"Okay! I'll try."
Phil then left as soon as he had placed everything on the counter and the rest on the living room.
It turned out that Phil didn't only but groceries for him but clothes for her to wear, too.
He had also bought her the latest model of a famous phone brand. There's also a laptop computer for her to use for her studying.
She recalled that Jane would use the units available in the library whenever she wanted to research on the topics found in the internet.
Jane only had an old model phone which she used in contacting Mrs. Sanchez, her mother back in their home town. But that phone was destroyed by Stephanie's group. It fell on the water.
Since then, she was using payphone in calling her mother. Or the school director would let her use the phone when she needed to call her mom. When she missed them so much.
She opened the package and took the phone out from the box.
She then read the manual on how to use it since it was the first time that both her and Jane had actually held one.
She was surprised that it was not really hard to navigate it since Jane had the knowledge in computers already.
She then opened the contacts and saw that there's already a phone number saved on her contact list.
"Edric, isn't this his name?" She mumbled.
She wanted to change it into Mr. McWilliams but decided not to.
Then the phone lit up all of a sudden with a call coming from him.
She was in an inner debate if she should answer it or not.
But in the end, she answered his call but remained silent. She waited for the other party to speak up first.
She waited but the man on the other line didn't speak up.
She thought he was no longer there but the call was still on going.
So sighing, she decided to hung up the call.
She thought he must have misdialled her phone number.
But was that really the case?
"Of course! We're not really close." She mumbled.
She didn't even know how he would call him outside of work.
Should she just keep on addressing him as Mr. McWilliams? Or should she call him Sir since he's her employer now?
But before she could think about that more, her phone lit up again.
If once was an accident, could you still call this second time as such?
She still answered the call though.
This time instead of being silent, he finally spoke.
"Miss Sanchez, I know you're there." He spoke.
And Violet hummed in response.
"I'm here Mr. McWilliams, Sir." She added.
She decided to call him sir while they were outside of her working hours. Well, that's how the people in this country address their boss. She was just adapting to it.
"Ahm...about the things that Phil had bought and brought into my dorm earlier today, thank you for these Sir but please deduct them on my salary for the next week's session." She immediately said.
Well, for starters, she didn't know what topic she should talk with him aside from this.
The relationship that they had was that of an employer-employee relationship. And as what she mentioned earlier, they were not close to talk casually over the phone to begin with. Their interaction was also limited from few encounters.
Even before she was a Queen, her interaction with the people were limited within the palace compound. Even the servants were afraid to talk with her except for Suzane. Her only true companion in that h*ll place.
A queen lived in a castle, a palace but that palace had also become her prison cell restricting her movements like mingling with the commoners.
And now, she had forgotten how to act normal because her life was never been normal to begin with.
"No. Those are on me. If you don't want them, just throw them away." He simply said making Violet to be irritated.
"What? Sir...I didn't mean that I didn't want them. I just didn't want to receive free things. I wanted everything to be earned from my hard work and not to be given to me for free. Isn't it hard for you to understand that?" She tried to explain herself.
"What's wrong if I decided to give those things to you out of goodwill? Do you think that I want something from you?" He coldly asked her on the other line.
"Seems like you're okay. Don't delete my number. We'll be communicating from now on through this phone. Don't worry, this will be the last time I'm doing this." He added and ended the call leaving Violet to be speechless.
"What was that?" She asked herself.
She knew she had annoyed him this time. She's such a b***h to him when all he was trying to do was to be nice as his employer.
But he was just so good to be true.
To reckon, even Jane's previous employers were not so considerate and generous to Jane back then.
And when she was still Violet, people would give you gifts in exchange of favors.
So...she her reactions were coming from that perspective.
That call had clearly drawn the line between them.
No, she had to draw a line on everything to protect herself and Jane from the pain.
After the call had ended, Violet then started unpacking all of the stuff that Phil had brought for her.
She was surprised to see her mini pantry to be full including her refrigerator.
She had meet and vegetables for the whole week. Now she was excited on what dishes she could make from them.
Phil had also bought new set of clothes for her to wear.
Well, they were not far from Jane's style though.
There were also few dresses whom she knew she would looked good on wearing.
Well, she had been wearing her long royal dresses for ages together with those tight corsets wrapped around her upper body but no cocktail dresses.
And this somehow made her excited.
But for now, she preferred wearing jeans and oversized T-shirts since the school didn't require them to wear a uniform.
'So where was that rebranding Jane thing, huh?' She mocked herself in her thought.
"Well, who said I could not dress up and be pretty when I'm outside the school campus?" She said.
And also, she could always chose to wearing long sleeves. Not that the places that she would be going was not air-conditioned anyways.
For the rest of the week end, Violet didn't left her room.
Aunt Flor visited her that Sunday morning to check up on her and they shared lunch together.
Sunday night came. Violet was preparing her bed so she could go to bed and sleep.
A moment after she was in deep sleep, she had a dream of Jane's accident.
How Jane saved the baby who happened to be Celeste from being bumped by that car.
And so the thoughts running inside Jane's mind inside her head while doing so. She didn't really want to die but she died anyways. She had a lot of plans for her family but for the sake of a precious life who needed her help, she would jump in danger to save her.
She's willing to help even if it was at the expense of her life.
She's a selfless person and deserved to go to heaven or have a better life on her next reincarnation if it did exists.
Then Jane's spirit also showed up to talk to her. She was surprised to hear an advice from Jane telling her to let go of the hatred she had in her heart and live this second chance she had through her body.
She also asked her if she could continue where she left, it would be great but if she decided to choose her own path, it's fine, too.
She also left an advice to her to never try to be careful of her biological parents that as much as possible try to avoid them for her and her family's safety.
Her father's current wife was very vengeful.
And also...if she could use her gift to help others, the better.
But still she could chose to ignore her request and create a path of her own.
Since she's now possessed her body, she's could do what she wanted.
And also, she'll be happy if she'd call herself as Jane and stopped addressing herself as Violet, since it's the name that her adoptive mother had given her.
She hoped that Jane would have stayed longer in her dream so they could talk more but she left.
It was as if she was having farewell in her former body and she would be going somewhere that she would be happy.
Then Violet decided to honor Jane's last wish of starting to address herself as Jane, too.
So from now on, she would be called Jane Sanchez and she would try to forget her past as Queen Violet.
