Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Trouble Before The Exam

The day of the examination finally came. Violet had woken up early as usual so she could have a peaceful shower and quick round of meditation.

When she was done, she changed into a pair of  outfit and put on her disguise.

When she was done, she got out of the dorm and buy herself a piece of egg sandwich for breakfast.

She hurriedly ate it while everyone was not looking.  She didn't want those brats to spoil her food ever again.

She then chugged the bottle of mineral water to finish her meal.

But they would really spoil her mood even her chance to take the examination.

When she was done, she looked around to see her assigned examination room.

Usually it's on the same room where Jane had classes on different subjects but the question was which one.

They often shift classrooms per subject.

She had been walking along the hallway when she found out that her name was not posted in any of the rooms in this floor.

She frowned as she looked at the time on the wall clock. The exam was going to start thirty minutes from now.

She also saw the students starting to murmur to each other while looking with their mocking and taunting gazes towards her.

Violet already had an idea of what was going on.

Of course they would take this chance to actually bully her.

'Don't expect that everything is alright just because you talked to the school director. These students wanted to kick Jane out, remember?' Violet talked to herself.

Geez! People could really be this scheming right? She should have reported this possibility to the school head and talked to Director Lopez to make sure that she could take the examination today with ease.

"Seems like the campus freak is lost."

And there they go.

"Stephanie, seems like the beast is looking for her examination room?" One of Stephanie's minion named Rachel continued.

"You really think you can still take the exam after being absent for such a long time." Stephanie looked at Jane with her mocking gaze.

"What do you want?" She asked in an annoyed tone with her sharp eyes looking at them.

Who wouldn't? These brats ruined her morning literally.

They wanted to stop her from taking her examination. Her only chance to stay and keep her scholarship alive.

"What we want is simple. We want you out of this school...NOW!" Stephanie emphasized.

"But Director Lopez had told me otherwise. Unless I fail this exam, I deserve the right to stay here!" Violet said.

"But we already signed a petition to expel you out of the campus. You're only a scholar relying on this school's scholarship. Do you even know where those funds come from? From our tuition! From us, the paying students!" Stephanie boasted.

"So we have every rights in this school to remove you out of your scholarship as we are your indirect sponsors." Stephanie confidently said.

**Flashback**

"What? That ugly student is still not out of your university after three months of absence?" Stephanie's father who was one of the P University's Board of Director asked in disbelief.

"Apparently yes, Dad." Stephanie said in an aggravated tone.

"Dad! I cannot stand her existence at all! Like seeing her everyday raised my stress level. I have had a breather after she was gone for three months. But now that her ugly face is back, I can no longer take it. Worst! She's in my department...I don't even know if I can finish next semester and be able to graduate this year. Dad! Please do something!" Stephanie whined at her father who looked at her pitiful act.

"You're one of the directors now, at least do something for your princess, please?" She added.

"I'll try to talk to other Directors and convince them to expel her out of the university. Now that I am a part of the board, I don't think that I cannot convince them to do so." Mr. Del Mundo told his daughter.

Stephanie smiled as she knew that if her father promised something, he would make it happen for her.

Too bad her dad had became a member of the board just this year. She should have gotten rid of Jane during their earlier years.

And so, Mr. Del Mundo raised his daughter's concern towards his fellow BOD members in an unofficial dinner meeting he specially organized for them.

However, to his dismay, they didn't want to support him at all.

First, the reason was simply nonsense.

And it would really look like they were deliberately bullying Jane if they would expel her just for the reason that she's ugly.

And besides, she's the smartest student in the entire student body. And she's this school's scholar. Her sponsor was this university's chairman who granted her this full scholarship grant including the miscellaneous expenses.

And that's the second reason why the other BOD members didn't agree.

They could not out vote her even if they combined the shares they had together.

Everyone had the rights for education. It's no longer a privilege just like in the past. Unfortunately, not all could afford to continue to tertiary education. Especially those excellent and deserving students yet lacked financial support from their own families.

Thus the Chairman of the University launched this scholarship program to help these types of students.

And Madam Chairman of this university felt that Jane deserved this chance and other ten more students like her who came from rural areas all over P Country.

Therefore, asking the Chairman to kick out her own scholar was like slapping her on the face.

But it would be a different story if everyone (students) would sign a petition.

If these students would express that they wanted her (Jane) out, the higher-ups won't just sit on their respective seats and do nothing. Right?

After all, the students' tuition fee payments were the number one source of income in this university.

So they have to listen to their cry!

That's why effective yesterday, Stephanie's group had started distributing these petition forms for the students to sign.

At first only a few signed giving Stephanie a great displeasure. So she promised the students to give them reward if they signed the form.

So far, they had made seventy-five of the approximately sixteen thousand student population to sign.

On the other hand, Mr. Del Mundo was sitting outside the Chairman's office waiting for his turn to come in and talked to her.

He hoped that with the number of signatures they gathered, Madam Chairman would not just sit back and ignore them.

A lot would be at stake if these students would drop out on this last semester of the academic year. And that was what they were holding against Jane.

They really treated Madam Chairman like an idiot.

Someone incapable of seeing through their plot.

***End of Flashback***

And that's why Stephanie was confident that with these signed petition forms, and her father's promise, they would succeed in forcing Jane out of the university.

"Don't treat me like an idiot. My scholarship funds don't come directly from your tuition fees." Violet told everyone.

As far as she could understood from Jane's memories, Madam Chairman told her that she was supporting her from her very own pocket money. And she only hoped for Jane to study hard and if possible grant her only wish when Jane graduated from college.

Though Madam Chair had not told her about what she wanted to ask from her as an exchange, she agreed to it immediately. She won't be asking her to kill someone in exchange for the scholarship, right?

So Violet knew the truth behind Jane's scholarship fund.

This revelation made Stephanie and the gang to be silent.

However, it didn't last long as Stephanie spoke again.

"But I don't think Madam Chair will still let you stay here if all of us will drop out from this university, right?" She said making everyone to be taken aback by surprise.

"Wait, what?" One student uttered.

"Dropping out?" Another one asked.

"Who's dropping out?" Student three mumbled.

"We're not informed of that!" They strongly disagreed.

"Are you really sure of what you're doing Stephanie?" Violet questioned.

"Seems like everyone have not been informed of that." She added with a mocking tone.

"Of course!"

"No! We didn't agree to that term. You said that we will be invited on a party at your house this weekend and some other material benefits if we will agree to sign the petition paper. No one told us that we would drop out!" A male student said. He was a member of the basketball team.

"Agree!"

Everyone was telling the opposite making Stephanie to panic.

"Stop being a spoiled brat will you? If you'll keep that attitude, you won't survive the business world." Jake interrupted as he threw Stephanie a disappointed gaze.

He happened to pass by and glad he came to check out what was the commotion about.

"This is no longer high school. We're already in the university. Instead of focusing on bullying others, we should try hard to learn the skills and wisdom that our professors are trying to impart on us which would be useful when we stepped in the ruthless outside world!" Jake paused as he sneered.

"What? Are you going to always rely on your dad to bully others? Are you going to run to him for help whenever you stumble an unfavorable situation in the future? Is bullying your solution to everything?" He coldly spat.

"Jane, let's go! We're on the same room." Jake continued as he grabbed Violet's hand and dragged her out of the scene.

"Wait! Why do I have the same exam room as you do? We're not on the same department." She asked but didn't protest to let her hand be set free from Jake's strong hold. She ignored Jake's angry thoughts towards Stephanie, too.

"What the hell are you trying to do Jake Lee?!" Stephanie yelled.

"None of your business." He coldly said.

"We're not done with her!" Rachel yelled.

"No! When I said that it's done then it's done!" He domineeringly said making everyone to step back in surprise.

This was the first time that they saw Jake in this state. Though he was aloof and indifferent, he was never nosy and would just be a passers by.

They were even surprised to see him talking and defending Jane.

"What the? Did the witch just casted a spell on Jake?" Everyone asked in surprise.

They thought that it's impossible for these two to actually know each other. Much more be friends.

"Tell your father that it is useless for him to meet the Chairman. She won't see him." Jake added shocking everyone.

"What are you talking about?" Rachel asked him. Stephanie told her that their plan would succeed today.

"Go and try to ask Madam Chair yourself." Jake casually said.
