Landon held Alek's hand in looking at the big walls of the fort that Zadran had brought him. There was a poppy field on both sides of the rough road that he stood on.
The farmers stood staring at him. It is not often beasts wonder this far from home. To a nomads lands, a land with no king or queen ruled only by saints. Only the saints had the right to walk through the red gate.
They watched with curiosity to see if the gates would be opened to him or not. They didn't want to see him and the child end up like all others who tried to enter when they were not invited to the summer palace.
"Shall we," Landon nodded his head. He lifted baby Alek from the ground and hugged him. He walked behind Zadran, he had a feeling that he was going to be okay. It took them three days to reach the place and avoid the king's spies that we're haunting him down.
