I left to Draven with sir Magnus, sir Owen, sir Karl and Kahlan. On our way, We rode our separate horses. I knew right in my heart that we were embarking on a risky journey and that we will probably be turned down but we still had to try. If we sat back and do nothing, we will all still die so it's probably better to die fighting.
"I'm still convinced this is a very bad idea" Kahlan whispered to lord Magnus.
"It is. Lady Diana is still wet behind the ears but let us just hope we will pull through" sir Magnus responded.
"No I'm not" Lady Diana said as she stopped her horse. "I'm not so sure of this idea but then we can't sit back and do nothing. Lord Torren needs us now. We have to do whatever it takes to fight for his honor. Don't say I'm wet behind the ears, don't even think about it OK, as knights you're made to take risks" I said and sped of in my horse and They followed suit.
Soon I slowed down and the rest of them caught up with me, This time, Kahlan rode right beside me.
"My lady, what if they ask for something dangerous in return?" Kahlan asked.
"Why do you think they will ask for something dangerous?" I asked.
"I don't know. These things always end up like that you know".
I thought for a moment before I responded"Well, As long as they'll help us, I will do anything to save my husband"
"Anything you say? Can you marry the leader of Draven?" Kahlan asked me looking at me closely. I pondered on her question but before I could respond, we heard rustling of leaves in the woods.
"Shh, hold on" sir Magnus whispered motioning with his right hand.
"Did you hear that?" I whispered to Kahlan as the rustling continued.
"Sshhh, quiet" sir Magnus said again in a hushed voice. "There's something in the bush" he stopped his horse, and clenched his sword. We all stopped our horses. The other knights with us also clenched their swords and moved their horses around us to protect us (me and Kahlan). My heart was racing fast but seeing the fearlessness in Kahlan's eyes made my fear go away. We waited for a moment but nothing came out of the woods. In fact, the rustling stopped. "Let's go" sir Magnus said. Just when we wanted to move on, an animal jumped out of the woods.
"An owlbear" sir Owen exclaimed. I have heard of owlbears but I have never seen or fought one. The knights jumped down from their horses and pulled out their swords. Just then, a second one jumped out of the woods. "Owen, take them to Safety, we don't know how many more are in there" sir Magnus instructed. "Yes sir" he responded.
"I'm not leaving" I insisted. I didn't want to leave them to be at risk while I was at safety. There was no time to argue as the owlbears were already coming at us, so they ignored me. The owlbears circled us as sir Magnus carefully watched it's every move. One of the owlbears pounced but then before it could land, sir Owen hurled his sword through it's skin. It felt pain but didn't hesitate. It staggered a bit and then started to come towards sir Owen while the other one attacked sir Magnus. The battle between the bears and the knights took quite some time before the knights finally succeeded in killing the bears.
"That was quite a battle" sir Karl said in a fast breath. "My lady are you okay?" Sir Magnus asked. "Yes. You?", "very fine my lady".
We got on our horses and continued our journey. "We're getting into the darkest and most dangerous part of the woods, we all have to be at alert. There are Gnolls living here" sir Magnus ordered.
"And we still have to pass through the troll invaded Hills, that one's scary" Kahlan added. I got a bit terrified but I didn't let the others see through my terror. "I'm sure we will make it. Nothing to worry about" I finally said and we kept moving.
Soon we were out of the woods and thankfully we only dealt with one Gnoll. It was night already and I was so tired. "Can we find a place to sleep maybe in the caves" I said pointing towards a cave upfront.
"We can't my lady. It's too dangerous. We are close to the hill of trolls and it has been said that they also move around in caves. Sleeping in a cave is not a good idea" sir Magnus responded.
"Does this mean we will keep moving without even taking a rest?" I was startled by sir Magnus's response.
"Come on my lady. We have to take this risk to the fullest" Kahlan replied and cackled. I didn't want to argue any further, after all I put them through all this risk but it's for good, right?. I yawned but nobody paid attention to me. Not even Kahlan. "Water, I need water" I mumbled. Sir Karl handed over a container of water to me and I gulped down the water in it in just one swallow and handed the container back to him "thank you".
We moved a little bit out of the cave area. "OK. We'll set up a fire over here and get some rest and continue our journey early tomorrow" sir Magnus said as he halted his horse and jumped down. I was so happy, I had never been happy to take a rest till that day.
"We will stick together no matter what. We don't want to loose anybody not especially just at the beginning of our journey" he added. We all jumped down from our horses and the knights set up a little fire before we went to rest. Early in the morning the next day, we woke up and continued our journey. As we journeyed, I wondered how Louisa and the other people of Draven were doing.
"We are about to pass through the troll hills and we don't want to alert them of our presence. We need to be as quiet as possible, trolls here are believed to be blind. We are crossing the hills without our horses" sir Magnus explained.
What? Without our horses?.
