We came to the sea. The sea that will finally make our journey less dangerous. The sailor sitting in the boat seemed inhumane. He didn't raise his face at all rather he just proffered his hands towards us and sir Magnus placed 4 coins in his palm then he motioned for us to get in. He sailed silently without looking up or saying a word.
"What is he?" I whispered to Kahlan. "Gatsu, the sea sailor. Don't worry he is very unharmful" she whispered back. Now I relaxed a bit. We all relaxed and discussed. The journey across the sea seemed unending.
"My lady, I'm still unsure of your plan, something is off about this journey to me" Kahlan said.
"Okay listen, I didn't tell you before because I didn't want to get you worried but I already sent words to the Dravens and they agreed to meet with us"
"Really?, my lady don't you think it's a trap?" Sir Magnus asked.
"Of course, it's definitely a trap" sir Owen added.
"Well I think it's a good start. Maybe we can make an alliance with them after all". I was really hoping for the best. "Hey, how much longer till we arrive Toga?"
"Very soon my lady. But have you even thought of what they might want?" Kahlan asked me again. "They are quite dangerous and I believe they will want to pin lord Torren down". In my heart, I knew it was true. I mean they are enemies to Torren but then I had no other choice. I really need there help right now. I will face the consequences in the future. "Yes. Yes I have thought of it and I'm ready to do whatever it takes to save Darca".
Kahlan smiled weakly. "I'm right by your side" she held my hand. "Me too" Sir Owen held me as well. "I have and will always my lady" sir Magnus joined us in and shouted out "for the love of Darca" and we repeated after him and raised our hands still holding each other. "But still lady Diana, telling them about our visit can give them enough time to prepare a trap for us. Don't do it next time" Kahlan commented as we let down our hands.
"I know. Whatever decision we take we'll still have to die. I just want to die while fighting for Darca, I want to at least try" I said looking sad. "We'll save Darca".
Soon we arrived Toga and we all disembarked from the boat. "Hello visitors. I can tell you're not from Toga" a young blonde hair lady approached us with a bright smile on her face. "How can you tell?, are you a seer, a soothsayer?" Kahlan asked. "No, nothing like that. I can tell from your dressing" she replied. "What do you want?" I asked. "Your money. I own a blacksmith shop and you look like warriors. I need to make a sale today, I'll take you to my shop to make selections" she replied still smiling. I stared at the rest of my party they all nodded and we followed the young lady. She showed us a lot of swords, daggers, bows and arrows.
"This sword is the strongest, here, check it out lady, it's worth fighting with" she said proffering the swords to me. I took it from her and examined it as she handed over other different swords to the others. "Hey, how come a lady runs a blacksmith shop alone?"
She smiled without answering my question. "Here, check these out. You'll need every weapon you can get right?" She said. I stared at her wondering if it's just a coincidence or if she truly knew something. "and yes, you will need a change of clothes" she said. After making our selections, "How much?" Sir Magnus asked. "Consider it a welcome gift. Just buy from me often, okay. Welcome to Toga" she replied, now she wasn't smiling anymore, she had a sullen look. Sir Magnus kept a few coins on her table "we won't be coming back here so have your money". We all left but as soon as we went outside she shouted "don't be scared Diana, use your wit, it will guide you". I quickly turned back and went inside but I saw no one. In fact I met an empty room. No weapons, no human, no funitures.
"Let's go my lady" Kahlan pulled me out and we left but I kept looking back. How did she know a lot of things about us?, this question kept popping into my head.
Soon we got to a shop that sell clothes. It was time to switch up. We selected dresses that will make us blend into the crowd and look peaceful. "My lady, you should try this" Kahlan said holding up a beautiful dress but still a commoners dress. We all dressed up and went on our journey to Draven.
"Won't we be needing any horse?" Kahlan asked.
"Draven doesn't let humans on horses into their kingdom" I responded and they all stared at me, "I read in a book" I said nodding confidently. "Hmm, someone's quite prepared" Kahlan put in. We kept walking our way towards Draven. "It's not far anymore, we'll be there in a very few minutes. Taking 30 steps perhaps. You look beautiful in that dress by the way" sir Owen said. I wanted to ask who he complimented until I saw Kahlan blushing. I always knew those two had a thing. "Maybe we should stop by a tavern, what do you think?" Sir Owen suggested.
"We don't have time to waste Owen" sir Magnus shunned.
"No. It's not waste of time. We don't know our fate at Draven, we don't know how much longer we'll live. We can perhaps spend it well without regrets. Maybe in memory of sir Karl and who knows, we might get to know a few things that could help us in Draven" I said and sir Magnus nodded. We all headed into the close by tavern. We drank and discussed with an old man sitted there in the tavern drinking alone.
"How come you're safe. I mean you live so close to the vampire realm" I asked. He was quite drunk and it won't be harmful talking to him. "I suspected you aren't from Toga" a man close to us said as he laughed in drunkenness "Hey, we all give them what they want. Blood, blood and more blood. At night none of us go out there. They are all awake and evil at night. But during the day, it's like they don't exist at all. The few that come out under the sun don't usually taste for blood at that time, Toga is a...." He was still trying to make a lady when the tavern owner interrupted him "hey drunk, give me my money, I've heard enough of you today, it's time for you to leave". The man sniffed and looked at sir Owen pitifully "young lad, help me, will you?" He asked. Sir Owen took out some coins and paid before he got kicked out. I followed him immediately.
"Hey. Wait a minute. What is Toga?, I mean the sentence you didn't get to complete back in the tavern. He laughed "Toga is, is....I don't know. Just don't get on King Luther's bad side" he responded and left quickly. Who's king Luther? Maybe the king of Toga. In some moments the others came out of the tavern and we all left. Heading to Draven.
