Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The bell had just rung for the final class of the day, and the halls filled with students. Some stood around their lockers socializing while others were rushing to make it across the school in five minutes. Walking out the double doors into the courtyard is a young man with shaggy black hair and brown eyes.

'Why couldn't they let me sleep.' The man yawned.

Most students walked under the awnings to avoid the rain, but he chose to avoid people. His reason behind this was simple. More people meant more heat, and he found the cool rain to be refreshing. While walking he scanned the courtyard carefully for teachers and the assistant principals.

Lucky for him they were all busy gossiping, but as his goal was within reach the SRO came rolling around the corner in his golf cart. Most people would laugh at the large officer rolling around with a star on the side of his cart, but to him, it was the biggest obstacle.

'Damn it. Maybe he won't linger.'

Standing around would be suspicious so he continued walking towards the nearest hallway. Even while walking as slow as he could the officer stood his ground. When he was prepared to give up and deal with the next hour a commotion broke out.

"She showed me the messages asshole!"

"And?"

A loud pop echoed in the courtyard followed by shouting and swearing. The lights atop of the golf cart lit up as the officer set off to break up the fight. With everyone concerned about the conflict he slipped away into the parking lot. He was almost to the cover of the cars when someone called out.

"Cameron get over here!"

'Damn it. I was wondering where James was.' Cameron discreetly pulled something from his back pocket.

"Where do you think you're going?" Mr. James asked.

"I have a doctor's appointment," Cameron replied while showing an old excuse slip.

'Don't come any closer.'

"Let me see that." Mr. James demanded while extending his hand.

"We need help by C wing. Officer Coots can't get past the other students, and the fight's getting worse."

"I'm on the way." Mr. James radioed before rushing towards the courtyard.

Cameron smirked while continuing to his car, and rushed out from the parking lot to go home. One of the stipulations to his emancipation was to continue with school, but his eighteenth birthday was one days away. With his attempt to skip being a success he only had to endure one last day.

Pulling into his neighborhood Cameron saw lights on in his apartment. It was a small duplex, but the ac worked great, and that's all that mattered. Walking in through the door the smell of cannabis filled his nostrils, and the sound of shooting mixed with cursing rang out.

"How did you get in?" Cameron asked.

"You forgot to lock it again."

Sitting on the couch playing Ebox is his former classmate Jordan. Having graduated during Cameron's freshmen year it was a common occurrence for him to find Jordan at home. Jordan was the kind of friend that would invite himself over and was always a little too familiar.

Cameron has always been a loner, and it was due to the look on his face. Most people would see him, and assume he was in a bad mood, but it was just his resting face. Add this with his cold-sounding tone it would often lead to conflict.

'At least he didn't touch the ac.'

"You staying for long?" Cameron asked while grabbing cold water from the fridge.

"Yeah, I got nothing else to do. You wanna play? I'll go easy." Jordan smirked.

"Maybe after the pizza. I thought you had work?" Cameron investigated.

"They decided to cut my hours again so I quit," Jordan replied while turning off the console.

Jordan pulled the table closer to the couch and started packing a new bowl. While he was busy Cameron flipped the tv on and took his seat by the vent.

"They caught you smoking again didn't they?" Cameron flipped through the channels as his phone went off.

"All the delivery guys smoke, he's just mad his ex was flirting with me," Jordan replied while fetching some ice cubes.

Cameron glanced at the notification before clearing it to avoid sending a read confirmation. The sound of lighter sparking and bubbling occurred behind him catching his attention.

"You want some?" Jordan offered.

Examining the ice in the bong he reached over to indulge. Smoking was something he could go without, but it did make people more tolerable to be around. After taking a big hit he glanced at the tv.

"....& Tomorrow's heat index will be 109 degrees Fahrenheit. In other news, the Las Vegas police department has declared the Madison Weather's case cold. This makes it three tot..."

"You mentioned pizza earlier right?" Jordan asked.

"Yeah, we had enough points for a free one, but I had to order a few sides first," Cameron replied.

While they were gaming, and talking someone rang the doorbell. Eager for something to eat Jordan quickly went to the door, and the second he unlocked it someone pushed through. The door smacked Jordan on the forehead as the figure knocked him to the ground.

"Why did you skip!"

A petite woman with short hair was bombarding Cameron with punches, but he was casually evading them. The blonde-haired woman attacking him is Megan, and she's lived down the street for two years. This was a common reaction, and with time he's learned to predict her attacks.

As Cameron sidestepped the next attack the woman rapidly seized his back for a suplex. He was in a daze starting to recover when he noticed something over him. As things became clear he could see up the uniform at the black spandex clinging to her womanly form.

"Megan is here," Jordan said while rubbing his head.

"I can see that," Cameron replied lifting the foot from his chest.

'S-ee wh-what?' Megan jumped back holding her skirt down.

"You know entering someone's house without permission is a crime right?" Cameron said while dusting his shirt off.

"And?" Megan retorted.

"I'll give you two some alone time." Jordan prepared to step outside.

"No!" They both said in unison.

Once again the doorbell went off.

"Have you been smoking again?" Megan interrogated while examining his eyes.

"It makes you more tolerable," Cameron replied.

Megan quickly put him in a headlock.

"Why do you say stuff like that!" Megan scolded.

Being smothered against her hip, and having his airflow cut off he began sweating profusely. Megan's top was riding up causing his cheek to press against her directly, and the heat her body was generating was too much.

"You know how his anxiety gets so leave him alone," Jordan told Megan seriously.

Feeling Cameron sweating drastically Megan quickly let him go as he took his seat, and chugged some water. Watching him trying to calm down made her feel a little guilty as her arm wrapped around her stomach.

"I'm sorry...If you don't go to school then you will just shut yourself in here all day, and that's not good for your health." Megan averted her gaze.
