Chapter 5 - Unbridled Rage

A/N: I'm sorry I didn't post for a while now. I was having some personal issues but it's all settled. The story continues.

I love y'all🤗

Evy ran out to the garden where she usually trained. When she came to the Katz mansion, Britt had made sure she was trained to fight. She had went as far as getting a personal trainer for Evy.

She still remembered how she was always beaten up by her teacher whenever they had a duel, until the day she finally had a tie with her teacher, that day the Katz mansion was livelier than ever. They had even celebrated it.

Evy took out her pent up anger on the dummy she usually sparred with. She threw several punch at it, but it didn't help.

She needed a life partner. Luckily Ian who had just been called to the house by Arvid was passing by the garden.

"Hey," Evy shouted.

Ian turned and she threw something at him.

"Huh?" Ian was puzzled.

"Let's fight." Evy said her hands on her waist.

"Urrgh," he scratched his head.

"She's a female, and I don't fight girls. Moreover she's the boss's daughter," he thought. He didn't want to get in trouble.

"Chicken?" Evy scoffed.

"Don't tell me you're scared I would beat you to a pulp," She said.

"That's not it, your dad wouldn't like the idea," Ian frowned, she was trying to provoke him and it was working.

"My dad is busy so don't use him as an excuse," she chided.

"I can't believe the almighty Ian whom I've heard a lot about is this weak," Evy shook her head.

"Fine then, let's fight." Ian put down his bag and came towards Evy.

They both took their positions, after a while of urging each other to charge to no avail, Evy decided to take the first step.

She charged at Ian giving him a punch in the face which Ian easily averted by weaving. He jabbed at her ribs as a counter attack and Evy groaned staggering backwards. Ian let her recover from his hit before giving his second blow, this time, he went for the arm, Evy averted it by dodging, she turned immediately and kicked his leg.

"She's tough," Ian smiled inwardly.

When he turned, he saw the look in Evy's eyes. This wasn't just a sparring session for her, she wanted to let out her anger and he decided to let her have her way.

"Has boss told her already?" He wondered.

Evy kept jabbing at Ian's sides. His face which was guarded by his hand wasn't left out either.

"Don't just stand there like a dummy, fight back," Evy yelled angrily.

"If that's what you want," Ian muttered.

He jabbed at her rib, not giving her a chance to recover, he punched her in the face.

After few minutes of fighting, Ian decided to end the fight. He kicked Evy's leg so hard making her groan, then he carried her up and threw her on the floor with as much force as he could muster, the fight was over.

Evy was growling, her body ached so bad but Ian was standing over her unharmed, his breathing wasn't even hitched, it seemed like he didn't even lift a finger.

After staring at her for a while, Ian stretched out his hand offering Evy help.

Evy slapped his hand away and got up. Ian laughed and took out a bottle of water from his bag.

"Catch," he threw it at her.

"Thanks," Evy uncocked the bottle and drank the content in one gulp.

They both sat down legs crossed.

"You know... When fighting, you should always control your emotions, or you'll lose," Ian said after few minutes of silence.

"I know emotions can be used to harness a person's rage and help them destroy their enemies but in situations like this, it helps to be level headed." He continued.

"Control your emotions, don't let it control you," he stood up.

"Here," he set down a first aid kit he had brought out of his bag.

"Treat your wounds, or they'll get infected," he attempted to walk away but Evy stopped him.

"Do you always carry all these around?" She asked.

"Yes, I like to be prepared, you never know when the enemy will attack."

"Oh! Would you teach me a thing or two about fighting one of these days?"

"Sure why not, when you're ready, I'll be ready." He walked away.

"Thanks anyway," Evy shouted after him, then she sat down to treat her wounds.

Growing up, she had never really had friends. Maybe Ian could be her first real friend and he seemed sensible.

This sparring session with Ian had actually taught her a lot and she was glad she insisted on fighting.

Hearing Ian speak had brought her back to reality, no one would stay with you forever, and it was Britt's time to go, nothing could change that. She had to come to terms with that reality whether she wanted to or not.

Few minutes later, Evy went inside. After freshening up, she went downstairs where the family were waiting for her to have dinner. Well except Britt.

Evy took her usual spot, which was to the left of Arvid while Ian sat beside her.

"Evy your face, what happened to you?" Arvid asked.

"I practiced fighting, it doesn't hurt. So you don't have to worry," she replied.

"Where's mom," Evy asked.

"While you were cooling off, she was taken to the hospital for proper treatment," Arvid replied after some hesitation.

"Oh!" She muttered.

"How long has she been sick and how long have I been kept in the dark," she asked calmly.

"About four years now," Arvid mumbled.

"Wow... I can't believe I never noticed until now. What kind of a daughter are my," Evy felt frustrated.

"Don't say that dear, we didn't want you to know, that's why you never noticed it," Arvid tried to console her.

"I claim to love her, but... But I couldn't even notice that my mother was sick. Are my really such a terrible daughter?" Tears trickled down her cheek and she wiped it off.

Two weeks later, Britt came back from the hospital because she had insisted to be home treated.

Her condition deteriorated after two months. She started vomiting blood and had difficulty breathing. Once in a while, she experienced excruciating pain in her lower abdomen and chest but with the help of radiotherapy, they were able to reduce the pain whenever she experienced it.

Although she took her chemo sessions seriously, her condition wasn't getting any better, instead it was becoming worse by the day.

The doctor had said she had less than 6 months to live and now, they were in the 4th month and her condition wasn't any better.

St Mary's catholic church

Evy knelt down in front of the alter, her hands were clasped together in front of her face, and her eyes were shut tight.

"I know I haven't come to you for years now, after what happened to papa and how you failed to keep him for me, I had lost all trust in you. I remember I always prayed to you that papa would stay with me forever, and I was made to believe you heard my prayers but maybe you never really did."

"Well, I'm here again but this time for the sake of my mom. I had lost papa, and miraculously, she came into my life, please don't let her go away too. I don't think i'll be able to bear it if she dies. Please... Just this once, I'm begging you from the depth of my heart to save my mom, she and dad are all i've got. Please don't let history repeat itself," she cried.

"Please... Please... Please... I beg of you..."

Iyan who had escorted her was 10 rows of seat away watching her, his heart ached for her. She lost her biological parents at a very young age and now this was happening.

He looked up at the sculpture of Jesus Christ at the alter and scoffed.

"Like that thing exists," he spat. Hatred in his eyes.
