The feeling of not knowing what she dreamed about so recently stirs something within her—a terrible, uncomfortable feeling that she can't quite place her finger on. She brushes this off to a distant corner of her mind, instead covering up her blankness with an amused grin and a laugh.
"By the way, Brandon, did you know it's daytime, right now?" she asks out of nowhere, changing the topic so quickly, that she would've forgotten what the previous question was completely.
Brandon rolls his eyes and makes an expression of childish stubbornness.
"I'm not going to believe something so stupid," he spits, leaning adamantly against the edge of the boat with an exaggerated huff.
Had he done so with a little more force, the boat would've tipped over entirely and the four of them would be swimming in the freezing water.
