Chapter 39 - One of life (Arc 4)

Her name was Chang Hua. A young woman in her thirties who lived alone in a field surrounded with different beautiful flowers. From the common white roses to the rare spiral moon flowers. They were all there to be taken care of by her. Cheng Hua used to be a soldier of the glorious city that had been taken down by the sword of destruction. She knew at that time that the guy was telling the truth about the nature of people. That's why, when they all had to abandon the city, she decided to go and live in a beautiful location she once spotted on her mission.

She had always enjoyed the beauty of nature, and always thought that selfishness was the thing that destroyed nature. In her perspective, humans had to work together on equal terms to grow stronger and become one with nature. If one got more of something and the other got less, there would be no arguments nor wars.

Violence over something that could easily be solved by sharing and working together, should never have happened. She was able to realize this through the nature of humans and nature itself. The nature strove for balance, and what humans could do to achieve balance, was to fill in what the other didn't have.

Nothing was too little, but there would always be too much. If one was talented at farming and another was talented at cooking, they should both share what they have an abundance of. The farmer could give vegetables to the cook because the cook couldn't farm, and the cook could give the farmer food because the farmer isn't proficient in cooking.

Sharing and working together was Chang Hua's motto, but she knew that humans tend to take the easier steps that could benefit them short term, which she understood. She would do the same things as well if desperate times were to come. That's why she didn't trust anyone, because she understood the true nature of humans. She herself knew she was a human which could do the very awful things. For that reason, she wasn't too close to anyone and neutral to anyone's feeling.

One day, when she was sipping on a cup of hot water while relaxing inside a stream of cool water, the ground trembled. To make sure that she would be able to run around when the ground cracks, she went out of the lake and wore her attire as fast as she was could.

Just a few seconds after she finished dressing up, a colossal worm burst out of the ground, right through her house and many of her flowers. It was the first time Chang Hua had seen such a terrifyingly large creature. Its colossal size terrified her and she couldn't stop imagining how insignificant she was in comparison to the creature that went in and out of the ground to travel to the south.

"Why does nature have to be so loving but so cruel at the same time?!" Chang Hua complained with tears dripping down her face after the colossal worm was far enough to look like a snake.

"My beautiful flowers that I've spend so many months to take care of!"

"They were like my own children!" She continued to sob as she fell on her knees.

'I wonder what it would be like to become a sword…?'

She sighed at her foolish thoughts, wondering how she could have such selfish thoughts just to be able to create a paradise of flowers and to protect it. Ashamed, she shook her had in disappointment as she had figured out that she would not be able to achieve such wild fantasies because the second sword was only chosen after a few centuries. But the more she found her thoughts selfish and idiotic, the more she wanted to try to become a sword. In the end, she decided to try to face the trials to become a sword, since there was no harm to it.

It was the third time lives had been taken from her. First it was the only member left of her family, her little brother, who got killed by a meteor that fell on their house. After that it was her horse that she cared so much about. Her horse got taken for a mission, and the soldier that drove it, fell off a cliff and into lava.

Chang Hua had enough of it, and wanted the lovely things that were brimming with a joyous life to stop dying. With great dedication for her goal, she entered the sacred grounds and moved through the strong pressure that made it seem as if gravity was increased ten times.

The closer she came to the closest sword, the more difficult it was. Still, she continued with blood leaking from her nose and mouth heaving blood. Chang Hua knew how injured she was, but continued by telling herself to crawl a few more meters every time she tried to give up. Her thoughts of testing the waters had long vanished, as she was determined to get the sword instead.

"Finally!" She cheered, before she spit out a few more drops of blood. The sword in front of her didn't budge when she tried to pull it out. Inside her mind, she was cursing heavily as she couldn't understand why the sword in front of her didn't want to budge when it was so small in comparison to the other swords that were further away from her. She couldn't accept the fact that all her efforts were a waste, which is why she didn't give up but continued pulling on the sword.

After pulling for more than a minute, she lost the will to continue and fell down to the ground, panting from exhaustion. Staring at the dirt of the hill in front of her, she finally noticed something particular. There was a slight refreshing feeling that radiated from the dirt, and the feeling kept getting better the higher she looked. It was the drawing of a glowing blue ivy on the fuller of a sword. When she saw the engraving of an ivy, she wondered why she didn't notice it before.

'It's clearly a sign' she thought, obvious to the fact that her loss of her delicate flowers made her look for a new vegetation, which seemed to be the sword behind the one in front of her. Another harsh trip was made by her, thanks to the increased pressure the higher one ascended the hill.

The sword wasn't stubborn as the first one that she tried to pull out. Chang Hua cheered the instant she felt the surge of power and familiarity. It seemed her struggles were worth it, which made her feel like a great warrior that bathed in the blood of an entire army.

With the knowledge of the sword's skills, she knew she had the ability to change the desolate environment into the paradise she dreamed of. She used the special ability that the sword updated her about right away, and made flowers bloom until they reached peak beauty.

"I will make this place into a paradise." She promised to herself.

When a few months had passed, she had sowed different type of flowers and build her own small comfy house from the coins she earned after trading valuable meat.

One day, when she was taking care of her flowers, she spotted a young boy walking alone not too far from her. He looked as if he was dead, but he was one of the cleanest person that she had ever seen. At first she was concerned about him wandering by himself, but when she saw him enter the lethal radius of the swords, she understood why the boy was alone.

'Looks like another member joins the family…'

The boy was Nie Lie, who got even more than he wished for. He received the familial love that he longed for when Chang Hua introduced herself, and told him about her plans on the development of the sword family. Nie Lie was happy, and he who had been separated from others, became the powerhouse who would separate others off of their lives, or lock them up alone in the darkness if they ever threatened him and his family.
