Chapter 36 - Destruction: Becoming one with the sword (Arc 2 finale)

Ling Lan's mind was spinning with the events of today. He put all the reasons he could find together in his mind, and when he came with a conclusion, he stood back up and at the same time, he swung his two-handed hammer towards the beast. The beast dodged the attack, but Ling Lan kept on swinging, destroying everything that came in the hammer's way. He was filled with adrenaline, and was as fast as a slayer or a berserker.

His rage, sorrow, and dedication for change fueled his emotions to become berserk. The beast couldn't do anything amidst the flurry of dangerous swings, but to only dodge. After three days and nights, the small woodland that used to be covered from the sun with a lot of ivy, was flattened.

The beast had run out of energy as well and couldn't leave its habitat. It couldn't do anything else than to get crushed to a pool of green liquid by the terrifying Ling Lan. Since he succeeded in taking care of the beast, the exhaustion and pain of having his muscles broken finally kicked in. He fell unconscious from the burst of pain, and woke up after five days, when he could feel his body fighting for survival.

The horses had run away when Ling Lan started smashing everything around him. They didn't run away before his rampage, because there weren't any intimidating noises made. Because eight days had passed after the day the horses left, they were nowhere to be found.

"Are you okay, mister?" A farmer who was driving on the main way to the city asked when he saw a soldier alone and far from his city. Ling Lan who found someone to help at last, was glad. Not because he didn't need to walk, but because he might have the chance to bring the corpses of his brothers with him. The farmer agreed without hesitation since it wasn't too far off, and helped him retrieve the corpses before they headed off to the city.

"Can you bring the corpses to the cemetery and asked the mortician for a proper burial? You can have my armor and weapons in return. They should fetch a good price when sold to a blacksmith." Ling Lan uttered before he gave his armor that was placed on the cart with fruits, a light slap. He then stepped off the cart, before he walked in the direction of the hill with the godly swords.

The hill with the godly swords was the only way for him to set things straight and take care of the problems that not self-achieved peace had caused. His instinct and mind were telling him that going to the hill was the only method to let his brothers die in peace. Therefore, he headed off towards the hill of swords to find out if he's finally worthy. After all, becoming a sword was the only way for him to be the one to talk.

When Ling Lan was within a mile of the hill, he was able to feel only a slight pressure on his skin. It wasn't as before when he tried to get in, because he could feel a welcoming sensation within the pressure.

After crossing a mile of land, he finally came close to the feeling that was welcoming him. It was a great sword that looked like a knife, since its hilt was very small compared to the thick and broad blade. He couldn't move pass the sword towards the higher areas where the other swords were stabbed, and came to the conclusion that it was because he wasn't worthy to wield them. Assured that the sword in front of him was his destiny, he grabbed it, gaining an abundance of strength and vitality before he was able to remove it out of the ground.

'Destruction huh… I should indeed do that to the city.' Ling Lan thought after he had fully synchronized with the sword.

A sheath for the sword appeared behind his back from particles that came out of nowhere. It had its straps over his shoulders and waist, and it was ready to carry the sword. Since he had managed to get what he needed to avenge his brothers, he sheath his sword, before running in the direction of the city's gate.

Thanks to the swords he was able to amplify his voice and had the ability to tell everyone from the city hall and onward, about the schemes of the ministers, and what he would do to the city because of the birth of such character. Destruction was his way, he continued by warning the people that no one would be able to stay near the swords anymore because they became nonchalant from undeserved peace which made them forget their greater goal.

"We did indeed improve our weaponry, but what happened after a few centuries? We became nonchalant about our position in the food chain, because we thought we're safe?! You all stopped using the temporary protection for the opportunity to improve and roam free, and chose to fight among each other for money and higher positions instead!"

"As a sword of destruction, I'll destroy this city and forbid any mortal from entering these sacred grounds. I won't kill you, but I'm warning you to leave right now. When the sun sets, this place will become nothing but crumbles."

"However, this only applies to the citizens…" Ling Lan grinned as he turned around to look at the thirteen ministers and especially the second minister of finance who had caused the problem. He unsheathed his sword, making everyone that doubted his identity, piss themselves from his sword's radiance.

"Kill him!" A minister of defense yelled out to the soldiers. The soldiers were mostly innocent, so he didn't waste his time and blinked towards the group of ministers that were standing close to each other in vigilance. He then slashed his sword horizontally, cutting off their heads, while leaving a sword mark on the building behind them.

"Run!" The ones who had witnessed his power, yelled, as they rushed towards their home to take their valuables and leave.
