Chereads / Balance and Chaos: Changing my damned fate / Chapter 14 - Realization of loss

Chapter 14 - Realization of loss

The day flew by like a phantom under the dark sky. Time was something one didn't have enough of, hence why the spectacle the two had for an entire day was the best. Especially for Liu Lue, since she never experienced such pleasure being near someone who understood her at last.

Xin Feng had suggested her to guide him through the sect to let her get some fresh air, and to let him know more about the sect. The two passed by the mountains and rivers, as they appreciated the beauty of the glorious sect. While passing by mountains, they occasionally told each other stories and recited poetries. It was a pleasant event that soothed Liu Lue's turbulent emotions, and it was an event with activities that wouldn't trigger negative thoughts.

Their last activity was watching the sun set on the edge of the sea. A splendid experience for both of them, because it was both their first time seeing the twilight of a big yellow sun and purple streams of light glistening in the sky right before night.

"Brother Feng, can't we stay like this forever…?"

"That wouldn't be realistic senior sister. We live in a dangerous world after all…"

Liu Lue who was laying on her bear's fur beside Xin Feng, leaned in closer before giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, brother Feng. For showing me the beautiful side of life."

"It's nothing but a pleasure sis." Xin Feng said as he stood up with a proud smile. He then tapped the butt of the bear to get it up as he continued with a smug, "After all, didn't I just get rewarded for it."

She giggled softly from Xin Feng's silly endeavors before she asked him in a tone full of doubt. "Can you even command a beast?"

"Uhm… I think I can."

"Rea.."

"If I have a whip that is."

"Damn no… There's no way you're doing that!" She yelled out before the two of them playfully fought for the spot, giggling each second for their childishness.

….

When they had returned, they both separated in the direction of their own room. Liu Lue went to sleep peacefully with carefree thoughts, while Xin Feng increased his record of being awake.

'Mom… Dad… Sis… I hope you all are still alive whenever I return.'

'Stacy… I'm sure you'll find someone else, and therefore I wish you happiness, for you were the only one who kept me cheered up through some of my harsh years.'

The morning came. It was a beautiful day, with the sky clear of clouds and the breezes as warm as the breath of an angel. A perfect day for Xin Feng to train. It was seven in the morning, and when he went to check up on her, he found her still asleep. He took a stool and sat beside her bed, which caused her to wake up. "Oh hello there, sleepyhead. You're finally awake."

"Good morning, my dearest Feng…" she replied groggily with half a smile.

"…"

"Let's go, I want to fight you."

"Heh…?"

"I still need to train, remember?"

"But don't worry, I only want to see your martial skills. I need to know if there's anything I can learn from you."

"Oh! You're belittling me now, huh? Just because you won me in a fight where I went all… out."

"Wait, how did you even survive… No! How did you even defeat me?!"

"Shh… It's a secret."

*Hmpf! "Fine! Keep your secrets then!"

*hehe*

...

"You really are quite the strange one… But I respect that." She uttered as they arrived in the training ground.

"Now!" She shouted at the same time as she delivered a kick to his head.

Xin Feng placed his left hand in a position to block the kick. When the kick connected, he let himself move a bit with the force of the kick to hug the leg with his right arm. Having gripped her leg, he used the back of his right leg to sweep her other leg. She fell down easily, and in a second, he was already on top of her, holding her neck. "Looks like I won't be needing any training from you." He stated with a cheeky smile.

"All right. That's all for today. Off you go…"

*Tch* "How rude…"

As she left, Xin Feng started contemplating about the spar he just had. 'I've only used twenty percent of my power, and I still defeated her that easily…' Xin Feng thought, disappointed in her.

'I should ask my master for a fight. Maybe Liu Lue is just inexperienced in fighting humans.'

Xin Feng went to the side of the training field to drag a stone boulder that is stated as the strongest one. He brought it to the middle of the field to test out his power. To do this easily, he had made use ofhis full strength, which was obviously boosted with Qi...

It was quite easy for Xin Feng to push the boulder which weighted about two tons…

Currently, he had quite the inhuman strength even without the use of Qi. Adding the one hundred percent boost from the Qi, he obviously easily displayed supernatural feats. Pushing the boulder didn't take as much stamina for him as when he's fighting either, which is why he was still able to move after placing the boulder where he wanted it to be.

After a minute, when his stamina had recovered and when he was no longer slightly tired, he gave the boulder a powerful punch with his fist. The moment his fist touched the boulder, it blew the boulder into many pieces. The punch had released a terrifying shockwave too, making the mansion tremble in fear…

'What the…' Xin Feng thought in surprise when he saw the destruction that he's able to release.

"Xin Feng! Where are you?! Are you alright?!" Liu Lue was filled with concern after she heard the sound of an explosion that came from where Xin Feng was. She wondered if someone had come to attack him, or a small meteor had fallen on him, which was why she ran to where he was as fast as she could.

"I'm Fine! I'm Fine! Just testing my strength out here!"

"…"

The bewildered Liu Lue didn't say anything, and quickly took out a talisman to call her master for help. "Master! Junior brother is being possessed again! Come quick!!"

"You're not serious, are you?" Xin Feng looked at her with disappointment through the fog that was already thinning down.

"Not really, just making sure you know… Hehe~" Liu Lue replied

"Fine by me…"

The words of Liu Lue, Xin Feng didn't bother to entertain. He simply continued to test his limits instead, this time summoning lightning in his hand with as little mana as possible. A spark of electricity circled his finger, as a result.

'That's enough show-off for today. I don't like to practice my skills in front of others. It makes me feel quite uncomfortable.' He thought, after he saw the fascinated eyes of Liu Lue that were focused on his fingers. Seeing the way Liu Lue's eyes were looking at him, Xin Feng looked at Liu Lue with a bit of scorn as his thoughts continued.

'Especially when they look at me like an alien…' Was his final thoughts.

Final, because right after finishing such thought, particles started gathering near Liu Lue, which indicated Master Xin Fan arrival through a teleportation talisman.

"What do yo-?" was the very first sentence that came out of the old man's mouth. Unfortunately, the old man couldn't even finish his words because of Liu Lue's interruption.

"Master! Look what my junior brother has done to a boulder that used to be so beautiful!" Liu Lue was as loud and excited as she could ever be.

"…." At first, while observing, the old man Xin Fan was silent. However, the next second, things changed immediately.

"As powerful as a profound stage…" The old man's words started slow.

"Our sect… Our sect is blessed! Hahaha!" And then they became as loud as Liu Lue's.

"Xin Feng, come with me. I've got to show the patriarch your skills, hehe!" The old man went on to say to Xin Feng, as he tried to hastily pull Xin Feng along with him towards the Sect's headquarters.

"Master! I have a request to make!"

Before Xin Feng could be pulled by the likes of the old man though, Xin Feng bowed to his knees immediately in order to have one of his request fulfilled before having to fulfill the request of the old man.

"Oh!" The old man's eyebrow raised out of interest after hearing that Xin Feng had something to request of him.

At the same time, Liu Lue misunderstood as she thought, 'Could it be that he wants me to come with him?!"

"I wish to challenge you."

On the contrary, Xin Feng's request was completely different to what the old man and Liu Lue had expected.

"EH?!" Liu Lue yelled, dumbfounded. As for the old man, his expression turned serious instead rather than surprised.

"It's good to be very talented, but remember that arrogance might lead to downfall. But very well. I will let you experience what it's like to feel inferior." He went on to say to Xin Feng with a serious tone in his voice

"Understood master, thank you." Xin Feng showed his courtesy to the old man, and while doing so, he couldn't help himself from having spiteful thoughts.

'Ohoho! Trust me, I already know how inferiority feels… That stupid Goddess!' Were the thoughts going on in the mind of Xin Feng as he finished listening to the last words of the old man.

"I won't be holding back, remember that. As a nascent stage cultivator, we have to fight in a virtual dimension unless I want to destroy the entire mansion."

The old man pulled out a golden card, and held it between two fingers before slamming it hard to the ground. When the card touched the ground, he called out "Dimensional sealing technique!" before dark purple light blasted from the card to form a barrier around the field. Inside the barrier everything was highlighted with a dark purple color. The three of them weren't in reality anymore, they were in a separate dimension that was a copy of reality.

With all these things done, he then looked over to Liu Lue before taking out a talisman to stick it on her back.

"There's no need for you to be here." He told her while applying the talisman on her back and snapping his fingers right after.

For a second, after Liu Lue had left, he then stared at Xin Feng before he roaring "Ablaze!".

Immediately, an explosion of flames was released upon the field, covering the entire ground in flames. Within the flames, the old man looked like a devil with the orange flames covering his flames. Xin Feng felt quite sad when he saw his second robe getting destroyed as well.

To match the ferocity of the old man, he activated his skill hot-hot to become a blaze of fire as well but with the difference of him having a body of fire instead. This time he had tried to resonate his hot-hot skill with his robes, and fortunately for him the robe was able to turn into a robe that seemed as if made of fire. The reason for it to work the instant he tried, might have been because he was determined not to fight another man naked.

The old man's eyebrow lifted in interest when he saw how Xin Feng was able to turn his flames into his robe. 'Dua Zhia, how I wish you could see how talented our son is.'

The two were standing still withing the flames, waiting for the proper time to attack. One was like the devil, while the other like a demon. Both fighting for the position befitting of a King.

Coincidentally, the two of them charged at the same time. They both threw their own fist towards the other fist simultaneously. A fist with the power from a nascent middle stage and a fist with the power of a profound peak stage combined with explosion magic… These two fists collided, having equal force as the two father and son pair were sent flying back due to the shock wave they both released together.

"What a fierce strike!" The old man yelled out in bewilderment while attaching his broken bones back to its place.

Xin Feng yelled back his own praises as well, stalling for time as he had used plenty of energies on that punch alone and needed recovering as a result.

When enough time had passed and when Xin Feng no longer felt too tired, he was the one to initiate the first attack, as the old man was considerate enough to wait for him to go first. Xin Feng threw a fist at the old man's face, which the old man countered with another fist again. This time, things didn't just end here however. The two kept sending fists towards each other, neither caring to dodge, both displaying their physical might and endurance.

They were fighting aggressively in close combat like true men. Brainless for the brutes they were… It was an exciting battle for the two of them, especially for Xin Feng. This, because he only had to use a bit of his mana and Qi and more of his stamina since the old man was going fast but less mighty.

Clearly, while Xin Feng was having fun, he was on the losing end nonetheless. His recovery speed was simply not enough for the amount of "decent attacks" that he had to deliver. Keeping up with a cultivator of an entirely different realm was simply too much. Still, Xin Feng was excited even when knowing this.

Of course, at first, Xin Feng was cautious of the old man as it seemed as if the old man was playing with him or planning to exhaust him. His suspicions and cautiousness soon turned to greed instead when he realized that the old man was actually training him however. Maybe not directly, but with his body becoming more resistant and stronger after every short period of rests thanks to the blessings of the system, the old man's continuously fast but not deadly attacks could be counted as a perfect training for Xin Feng.

After some time, the old man decided to stop with his attacks by flying away from Xin Feng though...

'Oh no… This old man definitely doesn't have the same idea as I do. He's not training me at all! I, I see it now! He's weak in physical terms almost like Liu Lue, which is why I am on par with him even though he's at the nascent stage! He's… Don't tell me he's going to use immortal spells on me now! How could he, my father be so careless and merciless?!'

Xin Feng sensed danger the moment the old man had used his elemental powers to fly away from him…

"It's getting late, but don't worry! I'll show you a powerful technique, that you will experience the power of!"

"No, don't you do that! Are you trying to kill me?! Stop! Oi! Stop!!"

Unfortunately, it seems that the old man is really a careless, reckless, and merciless father…

"Heavenly Soaring dragons from the Nether!!" The old man yelled out the name of his most powerful immortal spell.

*Sigh…* 'Goodbye… World.' Was Xin Feng's last thoughts, before two snake-like dragons that were twirling among each other, crashed onto him.
