Violet crouched behind a crater watching the demons search for the box, while she was focused on them, Gears and Frosty creeped up to her. When they got close, they decided to tap her on the back not to alarm her to do something she would regret later. Upon feeling the tap, she feared for the worst and turned around slowly to see her fellow heroes and heaved a sigh of relief.
"Thank God it's you guys, I thought it was a demon" she whispered with the demons having a good sense of hearing.
"A demon would never be this cautious" Gears said.
"So, any luck on the totem?" Frosty asked.
"No, they are still searching for it" she answered.
"Then there is still time" Gears said.
"Alright I have a plan; you guys stay here and draw their attention while I sneak back and find the book" she said.
"There are better plans than that" Gears said.
"Bro, she's gone" Frosty pointed out.
"I'm really starting to dislike that girl" he remarked.
Out of nowhere a loud whistling sound emerged close to them, they turned to where Violet once was to a see a tape recorder playing.
"Oh no" Frosty said.
The two were hit through the crater causing them to tumble on the ground, they stood up quickly to try and get a hold of the situation.
"I guess we just hold them off till she returns. Then we get that box to Slade so he can destroy it" Gears said readying his cannons which made a whirring sound.
"I'm good with that" Frosty said making ice blades around his arms. "Come and get some you ugly demons! AAAAA!!!!!...." Frosty said as the two charged at them.
Violet was able to sneak to the totem exhibit in search of the totem they were sent to find.
"Man, wolf, bear, eagle, man, wolf, bear, eagle, man, wolf, bear, eagle...." she repeated running through the totem exhibit.
Her eyes were then cast upon a totem eight feet tall at the center of the exhibit.
"Man, wolf, bear, eagle, I got it" she rejoiced running to it.
Upon getting to it she scanned it for any opening of some sort but found none was found.
"I guess I have to break it open then" she said.
She went over to the right side and pushed it down, the crashing sound catching the ear of the winged demon boss. She looked through the broken bits and pieces and she finally saw it, a golden box with engravings on the side.
"Yes!" she said walking towards it. "Mission accomplished"
She picked up the box and said, "Now to find Slade"
She was then hit in the back and was launched into the wall, she staggered up not letting go of the box to see the winged demon boss hovering where she once stood.
"That box is mine" he declared.
"If you want the box, you're going to have to get through me" she answered.
The demon growled and flew at her, she dove to the side dropping four mini grenades. The demon crashed into the wall and the explosion threw him across the exhibit.
"This guy isn't that tough" she said.
The demon snarled looking at the girl dashing through the exhibit, he sped towards her, and she outwitted him firing her grapple gun at the ceiling and swung away as he crashed into a row of totems.
"You demons are pathetic, a simple walk in the park" she said.
The demon stood up slowly holding its head and shaking it, it then heard the sound of footsteps seeing Violet gunning for the exit. Enraged by her words, it shot a stream of fire from its mouth blocking her from proceeding any further. She got out her grapple gun and aimed for the ceiling again so that she could swing over the ten-foot-high wall of flames. She fired and rather than her grappling hook hitting the ceiling, the demon caught it and pulled her up, she couldn't resist his strength as she headed straight for him. He used his tail and hit her up to the roof, she groaned in pain as she descended still holding on to the box. He slammed her with both fists as she bounced off the ground then kicked her into a wall, before she fell to the ground knocked out, the demon caught her by the neck and lifted her up.
"You are worthless" he said snatching the box out of her hand.
He tossed her to the side like a rag doll as she hit a totem and landed on the floor. The demon walked through the flames getting to where Gears and Frosty were battling and issued a high pitch demonic scream.
"MY EARS!!!" Frosty shouted covering his ears with both arms.
The sound disorientated Gears that he simply dropped from the sky disorientated, the scream shattered all the glass windows in a two-block radius affecting every one of them except the demons.
"Rejoice brothers, the gateway is secure!" the wing boss declared.
The demons made chants and war cries as they descended to the pits of hell.
"Oh...no....." Gears said seeing the demons leave with the box before passing out.
Maverick slowly opened his eyes after crashing into an office building because of that high pitch scream.
"That was something else" he said picking himself up.
He located Slade in the midst of the street standing up from the floor as well using his enhanced vision and decided to fly to him going through the hole he made when he crashed into the building. He landed by his side just as he stood up, next to arrive was Blazer, then Wave.
"Did any of you know where the box is?" Maverick asked.
"Not a clue" Blazer answered.
Gears and Frosty emerged from the building, walking slowly as they carried Violet to them. The flames from the demon quenched as soon as they left.
"Tell me you guys secured the box" Wave said.
"If you want to know about the box, why don't you ask her" Frosty said as they dropped her to stand on her feet.
She held her head and stumble backwards before catching herself.
"Purple head, where is the book?" Slade asked.
"The demons have it" she answered looking at the floor.
Max was annoyed, he walked to a building and punched out a chunk of it.
"How did you let that happen?!" Blazer demanded.
"The big one with wings, he took it from me" she answered solemnly.
"That's what happens when you run in without thinking or planning" Slade said calling his sword to himself.
"If only you hadn't run off, if only you listened, this won't be happening to us. At all" Gears said annoyed with her.
"I'm sorry guys, I really am" she said with the sound of Slade sheathing his sword being heard from behind them.
"I'm in no mood to start pointing fingers right now" Maverick said getting their attention. "Right now, what we need is to have some rest and figure out our next line of action"
"The invincible one is right" Slade agreed. "We need to move and find out where these demons are planning to hit next"
"Then who's going to explain these to the authorities?" Frosty asked.
"I'll stay back and explain to them what happened. Wave, you can take them back to my base in D.C" Gears said.
"What about the ones that can't fly?" Frosty asked.
"I can take care of that" Maverick said.
"Okay, let's go" Gears said.
While Gears was dealing with the authorities in Florida, the rest of the team had reached his home in Washington using an entrance through his garden to get down to his base. Maverick carried the non-flyers in a car airlifting them to his home which Blazer really enjoyed, he could've run there but had no knowledge of the address.
"This place is awesome" Blazer said as they descended down the elevator.
As soon as the doors opened, he dashed out going through everything in a matter of seconds then sat down on one of the sofas with a bunch of snacks in his hands. Maverick sat on the cough and rested his head deactivating his powers, Frosty removed his mask revealing his white hair and sky-blue eyes.
"Wow" Violet said seeing his appearance.
Slade sat next to Blazer who was mowing through the snacks with half of it already gone. He as well pulled of his mask revealing his face and red eyes. Wave had dropped his suit in a charging station as it was low on battery, it was currently and thirty percent.
"You guys must be kidding me right" Violet said.
"What is it?" Max said looking at her with brown eyes now and his suit looking a bigger than him to an extent.
"You all are just revealing your identities to each other just like that? No courtesy or anything? You don't even know each other?" she said.
"We've fought demons together twice, been to a divine realm and we are heroes. If we wanted to backstab one another, we had ample chances to do that" Rodrigo said from behind her.
She looked at him as he walked passed and sat next to Blazer.
"Plus, since you lost pandora's box..." Blazer said munching. "It's kind of like the end of the world so there's no harm there" he said.
"Do we have to bring that up?" she said.
"Of course, we do, you lost it didn't you?" Frosty said.
"We do not need to fight here guys, what's done is done" Slade said.
"We can't change what has happened, but what we can change, is the future" Maverick added.
"Exactly what we need" Gears said from behind them.
His mask came down revealing who he really was.
"Wait a minute, aren't you the CEO of MilTech?" Violet asked.
"You are correct" he answered.
"Cool" Blazer said.
"What we can change is the future. Brother Ferdinand said that if they acquire pandora's box they would go to the center of the nation to open it" Dave said.
"Then all we need to do is find the center" Frosty said.
"And then we know where the demons are" Slade added.
"That's right, we know where they're going to hit next"
