Nexus demolished buildings, turning everything in his part into rubble, Ravage worked with police officers and firefighters in organizing safe routes for people to use. Nexus was in the middle of bring down a skyscraper when he was hit in the side sending him to the ground, the beast stood up on all four legs like an ape and roared at Maverick, the cause of his pain as he hovered above the sky scraper.
"Yes, he has arrived" Quantum said proceeding to type a command. "Attack him, Nexus!" he said sending his command to the chip in his brain.
He had been ordered to attack Maverick with a circle target now placed on him for Nexus to use and attack him. Nexus roared at him again then leaped into the air raising both arms to strike him. With people still stuck in the building below him and all the destruction Nexus had caused in a matter of minutes, Max could not afford him doing anymore harm. He flew at Nexus pushing him from the chest changing his direction as he carried him towards the sea to minimize the destruction. Nexus realized this and used one of his tails wrapping around Max who didn't see it coming.
"Damn it" he cursed as he was swung away.
He flew through two buildings before landing on the ground as people screamed and ran, he was still trying to rise to his feet when Nexus threw a pawn shop at him, his eyes shrank in shock as the building slammed into his sending him another hundred meters away. Max broke through the rubble seeing the desolation brought to the street as people laid on the floor injured or worse, dead. His attention returned to Nexus charging at him as things exploded in his path, Max flew at him pulling his right arm ready to strike him. He landed a blow to his head producing a shockwave, the beast grunted and staggered back a bit and Max landed another blow to his head as it groaned in more pain then added two more in quick succession as the beast then punched him from the side sending him a thousand feet away due to it's colossal strength. He flew through more buildings five this time around then he stopped in an office building, he gathered his breath facing the direction he just came from then noticed something flying his way. He zoomed in and saw a bulldozer flying in his direction, he flew out of the building as it crashed through it sending rubble into the streets below where an man sat trapped in his car with nowhere to go. Max flew down pushing the car out of the way with the parts of the building falling to the ground with out hurting anyone. The man thanked him but his mind was somewhere else.
"If that thing's not holding back then neither should I" he said with a serious look on his face.
He blasted off breaking through the sound barrier as he approached Nexus who through multiple vehicles at him, he flew under the crane thrown at him then above the garbage truck. Two fuel tankers were now heading his way and rather than avoiding them, he caught both of them one in each arm and slammed them both in Nexus' head simultaneously. He shouted and wailed in pain as he now had burns on his head then he looked menacingly at Max baring his huge arsenal of teeth well over a hundred. Two tails lashed out at him which he was lucky enough to avoid moving backwards, he flew at the beast landing a solid blow to the chest as it groaned then punched him back sending him to the ground. Before he could recover, Nexus foot slammed him into the ground as it roared.
"He's going to pay" Max muttered from beneath his foot.
He gathered all his might and pushed off the ground lifting the beast's foot of him making it lose balance, he took his opening and flew out trying to put some distance between both of them but was caught by the leg by one of his tails. He was pulled back with great pace as he ran into his fist producing a shockwave. Maverick stopped himself mid air from descending to the ground and shook his head flew back clashing punches with Nexus producing the biggest shockwave of their fight so far. He flew below his outstretched arm trying to go from underneath him using his superior agility and speed but was met with two of his tails racing towards him, he managed to avoid them moving suddenly blow them but was caught out by two that hit him from underneath sending him above the behemoth who grabbed him in his palm and threw him like a ball through a couple of buildings moving like a blur.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!!" Quantum cheered. "He is finally within my grasp"
Maverick was stuck to a wall like a spider surrounded by cracks, he raised his head slowly as loud banging sounds neared.
"Wha-what is that?" he muttered.
The building in front of him crumbled as Nexus charged through it ramming Maverick through the building he was on with his head. Max groaned in pain loudly as he went through three more buildings before Nexus stopped and he rolled to the ground. Nexus rose up his left arm seeking to pulverize him then stopped midway.
"Now, now, Nexus, we are not going to kill him" Quantum said as he sent the command retrieve to his beast.
Nexus looked at Max as he laid motionless on the floor, he picked him up with two finger and lifted him up to his mouth opening it.
"Don't tell me it's going to eat him" Ramon said sitting next to Jessica in her living room worried.
"No, no, no, that's not good, come on Maverick wake up" Ravage said hoping he would wake up in time.
Nexus dropped him as Max fell into his jaws and Nexus sealed them shut, the whole city went silent fearing he had perished.
"Oh no" Ramon said angry as he began to pace up and down.
"Calm down Ramon, he's invincible remember" Jessica said.
"Just because he's invincible doesn't mean he should get into tight spots like this. for all we know that thing could have acids in its belly that could break him down or negate his powers" he said pointing at the TV in frustration.
"True point, and to make things worse we don't know its origin so anything can happen" Jessica reasoned.
Max rolled down Nexus throat an into a chamber or its stomach but it wasn't what anyone would expect, rather than finding a place full of liquid enzymes to aid digestion, it was a cage with lights and a screen in the top right corner of the cage. Max rolled straight into the cage as the entrance to the chamber was sealed shut with a thick metal door, the cage door also shut as metal chains attached themselves to his arms and legs to restrain him. The chains carried a certain voltage that stopped him from moving any of his muscles with the neurons in his muscles temporarily unavailable. Nexus began to move heading towards the sea where he would disappear from their visual and head to Quantum's base. Max's eyes slowly opened seeing the bars of the cage.
"Look who's finally awake" Quantum said with his image appearing on the screen.
"Who said that?!" Max said raising his head and scanning around.
"I said that" Quantum said as the screen extended forward having an arm on its back.
"Where am I?" he asked.
"You are within my Nexus"
"Nexus? Oh, you mean the beast. You created that?"
"Yes, I have created a lot of things in my life time but you and your brother are by far my most ingenious work. Tis a shame I have lost him to the clutches of that Clinton Brown" Quantum said despising the name as he said it.
"Wait, you know my brother?" he said shocked.
"Why wouldn't I, I created you both after all" Quantum answered putting his feet on his control panel and leaned back into his chair to relax. His mission was accomplished.
"Created us?" he asked confused not wanting to break free at all since he was getting the information he needed.
"Yes. You thought you were born? No way, I created you from scratch your DNA sequence, abilities, attributes and all I was-"
His speech was cut short as he heard Nexus grunt and Max felt the body stop moving.
"What going on?" Max asked.
"It cannot be" Quantum shrieked as Nexus was out of his control.
The body of Nexus began to fall and Max floated in the cage as the ten-ton body slammed into the ground. He had no idea of what was going on outside but one thing was for sure, Nexus had been put down. The chains automatically disengaged and the lights began to blink and sparks sporadically appeared, the cage door opened but the one to the chamber remained shut. The screen cracked and the transmission to Quantum was breaking, the arm holding the screen had lost power laying on the bars as they were no sideways since Nexus fell.
"What's going on?" Max said to himself.
Bang, Bang, Bang.
The sound came from the entrance into the chamber.
"No, no, no" Quantum cried losing his mind in his lair throwing things about as the sound of glass breaking could be heard.
Then a blade pierced through the metal door going in a circle then the circle was kicked down flying past Max.
"I don't need this anymore" a male voice said as the huge twenty-foot-long sword flew at Max.
He feinted to the right as the sword flew through the cage destroying half of it, out of the hole created in the door, two black boots stepped out with the person wearing black jeans, a black leather jacket and a black T-shirt with the letter 'S' written boldly on it. He was blonde and had the same red eyes as Max, max couldn't believe it, it was his brother.
"Long time no see brother" Sun said with a smirk.
Max wore a dumbfounded look, it was as if he was looking in the mirror.
"Damn you, Sun!" Quantum screamed like an ape going bananas for bananas.
"Next time you build a monster you better make it tougher than this" he said walking forward.
"I'll kill you!" he shouted.
Sun didn't give him any attention, what he came for was right in front of him. He walked up to the screen as Quantum cursed him then smashed it into bits.
"Why do you have that look on your face?" he asked Max.
Max snapped out his trans.
"So, you're my brother?"
"All the proof is in the looks" Sun replied standing five feet in front of him.
"Why are you coming for me now? Why did you hurt my friend?" he asked.
"You were well hidden by that Corsenik man but don't worry, you were easy to find after you decided to become a hero"
"You still haven't answered my question, why did you hurt Night?!" he demanded clenching his fists.
"I asked him to tell where you were and he refused so I decided to beat your location out of him, too bad he died" Sun said with no empathy.
"You're lucky he didn't die or I would have your ass in the ground right now" Maverick said with a serious tone.
"Your friend is pretty hard to kill for a cockroach"
"Don't call him that, he is human just like both of us"
Sun busted into laughter angering Max the more.
"You think you're human like him?" Sun said. "Wake up and smell the coffee, we were built to be killing machines, how do you think you got your powers? You think you were born with them?!"
"Your idea of being equal with these scumbags sicken me, whoever you hid with really brainwashed you good" he added.
Max grunted getting even more angry.
"Before you do anything drastic, I will advice you to stop those violent thoughts in your mind and come with me, the agency has been looking forward to this day for a long time"
"And what if I refuse to come to this agency of yours?"
Sun closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"Then I will have to take you on" he answered with a serious look in his eyes.
The tension between them skyrocketed as a fight was building up.
"You can take me on, but I can take you down" Max answered still with a serious tone.
"Is that so, let's put your words to the test. Show me what a hero can do"
