Max was held up in the air with a bubble of water around his head as Water Woman tried to choke him to death, he struggled valiantly thrashing from side to side before clapping his hands together in a desperate situation and produced a gust of wind strong enough to knock WW over. The water dropped from his face allowing him to breathe and returned to the ground.
"Your death is going to be slow and painful" Boulder Bowler said walking up to him.
"For the last time, I didn't do it. You're letting innocent people get hurt for no reason" Maverick pleaded with them.
"No, you're letting innocent people get hurt, now confess to your crime and we would end this" WW said.
"I'm innocent" Max said.
"Then you shall suffer" Boulder said.
He held his two palms together interlocking his fingers as he turned them into a hammer and slammed it down to his head then gave him an uppercut with it sending him to the ground twelve feet away. Maverick huffed getting back up to his feet.
"You just refuse to stay down huh" WW said.
"Then I'll give you something that you would never get up from" Boulder said as rock spears rose up from the ground levitating above his head.
"Don't do that there are-"
His words were too late as Boulder had launched the spears, they hit Max but crumbled and he wasn't concerned for himself but people around as he heard the sound of flesh being pierced. He turned around to see a teenage Chinese girl holding a grocery bag in her hand stabbed in her left shoulder, her chest and stomach, blood streamed from the side of her mouth before she dropped to the ground then another man on the other side dropped as well as he gave up his life to protect his two little daughters, the eldest not more than 8 and the youngest not more than 4, from the spears with five stuck in his back. The sight enraged Max, the people they were meant to protect, those two ended up killing one of them, he turned with anger burning within his red eyes.
"I'm GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!!!!" he screamed and flew at Boulder Bowler landing a clean punch to his face crating a huge shockwave that destroyed the glass windows close by as he was sent through the building at the end of the street.
He then turned to Water Woman by his side and then like a flash of lightning delivered a backhand slap to her face sending her to the next street, he then turned his attention to those on the floor with the two girls kneeling next to their father telling him to wake up as they busted into tears. He flew over to the Chinese girl and held her in his arms as blood flowed from her mouth.
"Don't worry, it'll be okay, I'll take you to a hospital" he told her.
Even in the pain, she mustered a smile. He turned to the father of the girls on the floor and began to think of how he would carry them both.
He landed in front of a hospital air lifting them in a car along with the girls, the doctors and nurses on standby rushed out to attend to them. A doctor immediately ordered for two stretchers to be brought as a nurse helped the two girls out of the car, standing next to the car as the two were rolled quickly into the hospital, he didn't notice danger quick enough as a stream of water carried him through three building and two streets down.
"That's for the slap" Water Woman said angrily with the right side of her face still red.
Max stood up again facing Boulder Bowler and Water Woman again as people ran for cover as they were carried above buildings by a wave of water.
"You injured those people, now I will have to put you down" Max said with a serious tone and look on his face.
"Oh, how much fun we're going to have the three of us" Boulder Bowler said.
"I can't wait for you to pay for what you did to Night" Water Woman added.
Boulder ran at him stomping on the ground as he approached and tried to punch Maverick on the face as pay back, Maverick caught his rock fist staring straight into his eyes piercing through his soul with those red eyes of his. He gave him an uppercut sending him twenty feet into the air after the shockwave dispersed and then caught him by his legs and spun him before releasing him into the ground trying to avoid as much damage as possible. Water woman then shot blades of water at him as he dodged moving from side to side until one cut his suit on the left side of his torso, she smirked thinking she had done something. He charged at her full speed and delivered a punch to ger gut as she spat out blood from her lips with another shockwave produced sending her through some cars and then into a building.
"Oh, this is fun to watch" Sun said with his eyes glued to his TV screen. "Brother is going all out"
Max was then hit from behind with a car sending him into a building, he turned to see Boulder Bowler throwing two humongous boulders at him, Max flew through the first one then caught the second one as he used it to slap Boulder through the air with so much force that the boulder crumbled on impact. He then saw a shadow cover the whole street and he turned around to see a huge wave spanning two hundred feet in height facing him.
"You've got to be kidding me" He remarked.
As he prepared to face the wave, his feet sunk into the ground and then were held in place by the earth then rock chains shot to his arms to hold them in place, he turned and saw Boulder Bowler with a smirk on his face from his position from the ground. Water Woman then unleashed the wave on Maverick trying to drown him as he struggled to break free from the chains with the water being held in place in the shape of a rectangle. He had little air in his mouth to use so he needed to act fast, he drew more strength from within breaking the colossal rock chains boulder made to hold him down. He then used his fists and broke the stone around his feet then saw Water Woman standing on top of the water and shot through the water punching her on the chin with so much strength that it was an instant knockout. The water immediately deformed flooding the streets destroying electric poles, more buildings, cars and more.
Boulder Bowler seeing Water Woman's body roll on the ground motionless, he screamed at the hovering Maverick, "You're gonna PAY!!!"
"Bring it" he answered.
Boulder ran at him and Maverick flew at him and you know how it was going to go, Max hit Boulder Bowler taking him in his direction as he began to unleash blow after blow after blow to his gut in rapid succession as the other groaned in pain. Heading towards a building, Max took the fight upward as they now ascended into the air with all eyes on them now as he continued pounding him. Max punched one last time sending Boulder higher then he appeared behind him using his superior speed and hit him back down to earth with a strike from both hands after going a thousand feet into the air thanks to Max going full speed. Boulder slammed into the ground as quickly as he ascended and opened his eyes slowly seeing Max flying back down to him for the final blow, he reacted by stretching out his right arm to protect his face but that wasn't enough with Maverick's punch creating huge cracks on the ground. The pieces of the ground loosened from the earth thanks to the cracks rose into the air peeling away like the skin of a potato. The dust settled revealing Boulder Bowler knocked out and Max standing over him panting with the fight taking so much out of him, a police officer full of fear approached him pointing his gun which was rattling in his palms thanks to his fear at him. Max rose his head up looking at him with those eyes and now the officer was even more terrified as those eyes gave him an air of monstrosity especially after what he had just done putting a twenty-meter hole in the ground. The officer gulped still trying to form the words in his mouth to talk to him but Max beat him to it.
"Put cuffs on these two" he said looking at Boulder Bowler and Water Woman. "They are the real enemies here" he said walking away from Boulder's body.
He stood clear of the officer who still pointed his gun at him and looked into his eyes before flying away, the officer marveled as he flew away then the sound of metal clanging startled him so much that he shot into the air out of fright and only after the shot left that he realized what he had done after scaring the people that creeped out from whatever they used to shield themselves from destruction. Max flew back to the hospital where he dropped of the girl and the man, he landed at the entrance as the doctors and nurses looked at him full of apprehension. He took in a deep breathe then walked forward into the building with none of the security officers daring to stop him, he walked up to the receptionist who had her head buried in books and on the phone.
"Excuse me" he said deepening his voice and projecting confidence.
"Yes, how may I help you" she answered with her eyes still on the book in front of her.
"I came to see the four people I dropped here earlier today" he answered.
"And your name is sir?"
"My name is Maverick" he said.
She took a quick glance up and saw him, but she couldn't believe her eyes, she looked up slowly examining his features to confirm that it was really him.
"I'm sorry sir they're on the sixth floor third door to your left" she said trying to gather herself together.
"Thank you" he said and walked away.
"What a hottie" she said with her face turning red and daydreamed about him.
He walked into the elevator and stood alongside the people within it to their shock, some stayed motionless trying to get out of the shock, some took pictures and videos while a little boy touched the cut side of his suit.
"What floor are you getting off" an elderly man asked.
"Sixth floor sir" he replied.
"Okay" he said hitting the button with a six on it. "Glad to see one that hasn't lost his respect for the elderly"
"How did you get this?" the boy asked with his mom trying to stop him from asking the question.
He turned to the little boy and squatted coming down to his level.
"I got it from the fight I just fought" he answered.
"The one you just had with Water Woman and Boulder Bowler?" the boy questioned as his mother motioned him to stop.
"It's okay ma'am" he said noticing his mother's actions. "Yes" he answered.
"What caused it?" he said not knowing that he was being snapped and recorded.
"That's a story for another day" he answered placing his right hand on his head and rubbing his hair. "Hey, would you like a picture?" he asked.
"Sure" the boy said with a smile.
Max picked the boy up in his arms and stood for the shot and everyone apart from the elderly man took a picture of that moment then the elevator dinged, and they had arrived the sixth floor.
"Take care little buddy" he said dropping him and walked away.
"He's so nice" a girl said.
"And dreamy" another added.
"I'll cherish this picture forever" one more added.
He walked through the floor with all eyes fixed on him as he walked most of them shocked and wondered if that was actually him, he found the two girls from earlier sitting outside the room with their heads down.
"Hey there girls" he said with a warm tone.
They raised their heads up quickly seeing him standing there, they ran and hugged him at his feet, and he hugged them back.
"How's your dad doing?" he asked.
"He's in therw" the youngest said.
"Thank you" he answered, and he knocked on the door before walking in on a nurse in the room writing on one of the files in her hand.
She looked at him and was surprised dropping the files in her hand and didn't realize it.
"You dropped your files" Max said after looking at her for three seconds.
"Oh sorry" she said going down and picked them up.
"How is he?" he asked concerned seeing his condition. He was on life support and looked really really bad.
"He just got out of a successful surgery and is recovering" she said trying to act as professional as possible.
"What about the girl?" he asked.
"She is still in the theatre, but the doctors should be done in thirty minutes"
"That's good, have you contacted their friends and family?" he inquired.
"Yes, their families have been contacted and they would arrive soon" she said.
"Alright then, I'll be back tomorrow to check up on them" he said turning around to leave.
As he walked out of the room, the youngest girl spoke, "Are you leaving?"
He stopped and turned to her, "I'm sorry dear but I have to go, the city isn't going to save itself" he said.
"Okay" she said a bit saddened.
"Don't worry, I'll be back tomorrow"
That seemed to cheer her up and he left, the next place he was heading to was back to Den to see if Night had been moved to a hospital.
