Chapter 1
Jak opens his eyes to see nothing but darkness. 'Where am I.' He thinks as he looks around to see nothing different around him. "You are in my domain." a voice says scaring Jak as he begins to frantically look around.
"Who's there?" Jak says as he looks around to no avail. "You won't find me; I am speaking directly into your mind. Id allow you to see me, but you would die from just my presence alone." the voice says with a sigh.
Jak calms himself as he stops looking around then says "So then, where exactly is your domain?" to which the voice replies "It is no where you know of currently." Jak wonders what he means then remembers his life as it flashes quickly before his eyes.
Jak was an orphan, raised at an orphanage in America. He had been what most would call an average joe, mediocre grades throughout school, dropping out of college midway through, and then having to find himself a job to support himself from the bills that came with them.
He never got married, as he had to work hard and long to keep all his debt caught up till one day, when he was around 30, he had been working overtime, trying to make ends meet but his heart couldn't hold out as he died from a heart attack.
Jak shakes his head and sighs, as he figures out this is the afterlife and the says "So where is this hell or heaven?" to which the voice laughs and replies "Neither, as I said this is my domain, I've grabbed you to make you an offer."
"What kind of offer?" Jak asks to which the voice says "I can have you reincarnated into a new world which you humans like to call a fantasy world with a single wish, or you can be sent to your earths heaven or hell, the choice is yours."
Jak begins to think on this then asks "Why me." To which the voice says "No special reason, you were just lucky, though I can always find someone else so please hurry with your reply."
Jak thinks for a few more minutes than nods to himself then says "I would like to go." to which the voice replies "Ok, then you have a single wish, but I need to remind you it can be nothing big like a system, or an almighty cheat."
Jak thinks for a minute then says "Could you simulate a world in my mind like the one I'm going, with all of its monsters and magic, where I'm immortal, so I can learn how to handle myself." to which the voice says nothing for a few minutes, seemingly thinking then says "Sure, we will go with what you're thinking." then Jak hears a snap. Jak then begins to feel the world turn as dizziness begins to over set him. "Well, I wish you the best of luck." the voice says and then Jak passes out.
After who knows how long, Jak begins to hear the rustling of leaves and the wind on his skin. He slowly opens his eyes, taking a bit of time to adjust to the light, as he white blots out his sight for at first, but slowly begins to change to blue, as the sky slowly fills up his vision. Jak then begins to close and open his hands, as he places them on the ground, slowly sitting himself up.
He looks down at his legs, seeing himself pretty much naked, except for his boxers, as he mumbles "Wow, thanks." as he looks up at the sky then he stands up. Jak then looks around, noticing he is in a small clearing surrounded by trees. Jak thinks for a minute before he starts walking in a random direction.
As he walks through the forest, Jak looks left and right scanning the trees and the bushes, trying to see if this is really a different world. He stops at the sound of bushes moving, making him turn towards the noise and watch the bush for any more movement. After a few seconds, a white head with long ears and a horn, jumps out of the bush, startling Jak as he steps back and looks down to see a rabbit, with a long horn on its head.
He and the horned rabbit stare at each other for a minute before Jak slowly takes a step back but is rushed by the rabbit who jumps at him horn first, aiming for his stomach. He kicks at the rabbit instinctively, making it fly at a nearby tree, causing a crack sound to ring out, as it bounced off the tree landing on the ground.
He stares at the rabbit on the ground while breathing heavily, as he tries to slow his heart rate. He watches the rabbit noticing its eyes are still moving while it lay on the ground, indicating it's still alive. Jak looks near him to see a stick that's about 3 feet long and 4 inches thick. He bends down and grabs it as he slowly walks towards the rabbit, ready to dodge or counter it if needed.
After being a few feet away, Jak moves the stick overhead before swinging it down, right on the rabbit's head causing it to squeak like crazy. Jak then freaks out a bit and repeatedly hits the rabbit till it stops squeaking. After a few seconds, Jak finally stops hitting the rabbit and falls on his but as he begins to catch his breath, he looks down at the rabbit to see a bloody mess on the ground.
He then begins to gag, as the sensation of crushing the rabbit with the stick plays back in his mind over and over again. He would've thrown up, but he had nothing in his stomach at the moment. After he stops gagging, he then slowly gets up, while keeping the stick in hand as he moves over to the rabbit, or what is left of it.
He thinks for a minute, planning to take what was left of the rabbit, but seeing it was pretty much just crushed paste, he decides against it but he grabs the horn instead, planning to use it as a mini dagger. He wipes the horn on the ground, trying to wipe the blood off before sliding it into the back strap of his boxers, making him quite uncomfortable, but he tries to ignore it, thinking he might need it later.
Jak then holds the stick with both hands as he begins to walk through the forest once more, but this time a bit more cautiously. After an hour of walking, he hears a different sound from the rustling of leaves. He then slowly moves towards the sound and comes up on a small stream of water. Jak then slowly walks to the stream and notices it is quite shallow where he can see all the way to the bottom.
He places his stick on the ground while he kneels on the ground near the stream and uses his hands to scoop up water to drink. After quenching his thirst, Jak picks up the stick and then walks along the stream, heading upstream. After following the water for a while, he stops at a cliff with the water coming down from it. Jak decides to make camp here, seeing that there was only one way to be attacked from, or so he thinks.
Jak then grabs the horn on his waist and then marks the wall with a big X as big as he could, before placing the stick on the ground. He then makes his way back towards the forest, marking a tree here and there making sure he can get back. After finding some good fiber locations, long grass or dog bane, as he begins picking pieces that he thought was good before heading back with a handful of them.
After making it back to his 'base' Jak places the horn on the ground and then grabs a nearby rock. He then begins to crush the sticks he had grabbed earlier with the rock, as he filters out the wood to give himself good fiber. He then begins to wrap the fibers, slowly turning it into cordage, rope. After a few hours, he finishes making the fiber into cordage. He nods to himself as he sees a 5-foot-long rope on the ground while mumbling "Good thing I read up on this before." as he then coils the rope and places nearby.
Jak then grabs his long stick that he had earlier and makes his way back into the forest to forage. He grabs a few edible grasses he knew that wasn't poisonous but he couldn't find much. 'This should last me a few days.' he thinks as he eats some of the grass before making his way back to base. He then places his leftovers down before he begins to look around for some stones, one small and one round.
After finding both, he begins to hit the rocks together, sharpening the smaller stone with the round one. After a couple of minutes of hitting it, Jak decides to stop and feels the edges of the rock, feeling the uneven spots on it but decides it should be good enough for his first attempt. He then searches for a smaller piece of wood to use as a handle and then makes an indent with the sharp side of the rock.
He then uses the sharp rock to cut a foot or so of the rope before wedging the rock into the wood. After that, he uses the rope he cut to tie the two together as well as make a bit of a grip on the handle. He then swings the stone knife around a bit before nodding to himself, admiring his work. Jak then keeps the knife in hand while heading back to the woods to gather wood, dry leaves, bark, and wood.
He then brings it back and begins trying to make a fire while using the hand drill method. He creates an indent in the wood, before using a piece of wood to spin with his two palms till he sees a shining ember to which he moves towards the pile of dry leaves and bark and begins blowing the ember as a fire starts slowly. He then starts to add wood to allow the fire to grow.
After letting the fire catch on, he then surrounds the fire with good sized rocks, trying to keep it contained. He then nods his head as he goes and grabs the edible grass to eat. He finishes a few more pieces of the grass before taking a break. Jak then sits down on a patch of grass, as he looks up at the sky that was turning yellow and red from the setting sun.
After a couple minutes of rest, Jak decides to begin by grabbing the wood nearby, planning to make a small camp for himself. He begins to go back and forth, piling up a good amount of wood, and then begins to clear out a small area around the cliff of rocks and leaves, making a clear area of dirt. He then he begins to place the wood against the cliff, making a makeshift shelter.
He then nods to himself before heading next to the fire and clears the area around the fire before sitting next to it and watches the fire a bit before heading to his makeshift shelter, going under it and lays down planning to fall asleep. Though not right away, he slowly but surely falls asleep.
