Kissing him in the room which is almost dark, just the feeling of his lips on mine made me melt in his arms. Suddenly, I heard the door bang! A familiar voice screamed at me. "Open the da*n door, Natalia! I know you are inside". My heart starts beating rapidly at the thought of being caught. You maybe wondering how I got into a situation like this. Well, It is the consequences of falling in love with a forbidden person while having a ring on my finger worn by another man. Let's go where this all started....
Months Ago....
"Make sure you decorate the walls with white roses or else you will be fired!". "Hey you, don't you dare step on those flowers or else I will stab you between the legs!".
You may wonder who is blackmailing the workers like crazy. Well, She is my Mother Dearest.... "Edina Peterson".
"Edina, leave those poor workers alone! you are scaring them away ! They are the 5th crew we have hired for this event" screamed my father.
My Father, the well known "Gerard Peterson" who is a multi-billionaire and owner of Gerard Enterprises. A man known for his self dignity , good work ethics and so on. Yes I am Natalia..."Natalia Peterson". A girl of fashion and a great foodie. I may not look like a fricking model but, men find me beautiful. Unfortunately, I was forbidden to date anyone as my parents wanted me stay as a saint.
But today, everything will change. I am going to get married to someone I don't love. It is a marriage deal made by my dad with the devil "William Carter" who has been my father's bestfriend since childhood. Tonight, I am going to get engaged to his son, "Benett Carter". I can't say that I hate my life right now. Because for a girl who doesn't love anyone, I don't care who I am going to marry. After all, who says no to money and perks you get as a result of marrying someone. Love is bullshit. It is nothing but pain.
Drowning into my own thoughts, I didn't notice her standing in front of me. My bestfriend Jessica. She is a well known model in fashion industry. Golden Tan skin, dark black hair with hazel dark eyes. She is the woman who radiates Confidence. I am lucky to have her as my bff.
"Move your ass, young lady! you have an engagement to get ready."
She is looking forward to this engagement.
"Slow down Jess, I just now took a shower" I said while wearing nothing just a bathrobe. "Care to say, why you are excited like my mom?" I snapped at her.
"Oh Nat, don't you dare think that this engagement excites me. you know that I am a party animal. It has been ages since I partied a lot" She said with genuine excitement.
"Then what do you say about the party that you attended two weeks ago which has been the headlines on the newspaper 'Drunk model Jessica Hegde kissed a unknown man on the streets'? are you gonna say that was a public display of love?" reminding one of her embarrassed moments, I laughed at her.
"Enough Nat, you know that I won't be myself on the times like that and that man was a total snack!" She winked at me.
Jessica is not a typical play girl. She parties a lot and ends up drinking a lot. Still that doesn't ruin her reputation. Fans always find her as a cool person.
"Cool Jess, You know that I love to embarrass you." It is one of our bff moments.
As we both laughed at each other, We heard a sudden thud on the door. We both know who it is. Our lovely bestfriend Meghan. Meghan Price, the daughter of famous fashionista. She has a heart of gold who has always had my back. She is not weird but she do things that are always weird. Still we adore her. Barging into my room, she ended up on the floor. We couldn't help but laugh at her.
"Oh my gosh Meghan! When are you going to learn how to not get landed on the floor" Jessica mocks at her.
"Its just that the floor is slippery". Meghan pouts. Glancing on my side, She snaps at me "How could you agree to this fricking engagement? I shall not complain, your soon to be fiancé is an absolute snack". Meghan is a straight forward girl which I always adore.
"Oh come on, wipe the drool off your face. It is her fiancé we are talking about. Make sure you wipe that floor otherwise you will end up slipping and falling again!" Jess laughs at her. Even I burst into laughter on imagining that. This is what I love about my friends. They always find a way to make me laugh.
As the time came, we get ready for the engagement. Jess and Meghan helps me in dressing and makeup. Besides being a daughter of fashionista, Meghan is also a great hairstylist. She does my hair in the most elegant way.
Soon we made our way into the hallway....My dearest parents who have no guilt of making a marriage deal and made her daughter to marry an unknown person stood there seeing me with happy tears. Typical parent-daughter moment. But my parents love me, they have done everything for me. The only thing is no one wanted to get on their bad side including me. I don't want to unleash a monster in them which is hidden inside until I disrespect their decision.
"Natalia, you look beautiful in the dress, dear. Soon the entire city will be astonished at your beauty once the news about the engagement is on the headlines" said my mother with true happiness.
After all, This is worth seeing your parents happy.
"I know mom, even the fricking models will be jealous of me. I gonna marry a powerful business man you know" said while pretending that I like this arrangement. Anything to make my parents happy. Jess and Meghan looked at each other quite surprised at my act. Then, they regained their composure.
Then we get into the car and reached the venue. There....The view astonished me. It was very beautiful and luxurious. My mom indeed done a great job.
"Its really beautiful Mrs. Peterson." Meghan said with a excited tone.
"Glad that you like it dear." My mom said while maintaining a calm posture.
Soon we entered into the hall full of people. The insides can't be compared with the outer view of the venue. It was on whole another level. It was well decorated with white roses. It has a buffet meal system which made the foodie me happy. There were people who are well known business men, famous celebrities, models and fashionistas. They are the people of high society. Maintaining a image is very important to them. However, I got used to this lifestyle of plastering a fake smile.
Even though, lowkey I hated this engagement thing, I couldn't help but to search for my soon to be fiancé. Jess who noticed me whispers into my ear, "Nat, the man in the maroon suit is Benett".
