Chapter 12 - Building the Altar

Although Thomas was very anxious, he still had to finish what he had to do.

"O'Neill, clean up the battlefield and see if there are any valuable things. Take them away."

"Yes!" O'Neill immediately took action.

He took his men around the area and collected six magic cores from the ashes of the Rat-Men.

"Only six magic cores for a dozen Rat-Men. This drop rate is a little low, even lower than the drop rate of the Skeleton Soldiers." Thomas was not very satisfied with this harvest.

However, the next harvest was far beyond Thomas' expectations.

O'Neill actually found a hidden wine cellar with bottles of wine inside.

Thomas looked around and found that these wines had been stored for at least 10 years. He even found a bottle of rare wine that had been stored for 50 years.

Seeing these wines, Thomas suddenly had an idea.

He said to O'Neill, "O'Neill, move these wines to the camp immediately. Remember, don't throw a bottle away. You must send them to the camp intact."

"Understood." O'Neill and the others immediately began to move, bringing the wine back to the campsite.

Upon arriving at the campsite, Thomas immediately took out six magic cores and placed them on the ground.

"Construct the altar of the Goddess of Life."

The Goddess of Life was a Sovereign God worshipped by all the humans of this continent.

As far as Thomas knew, the Goddess of Life was the most generous of deities. As long as one could sincerely offer her an item, they would receive generous rewards.

Thomas had obtained so much red wine this time, and he couldn't use too much of it himself. It would be better to offer it to the Goddess of Life in exchange for what he needed.

The runes on the magic array shone one after another, and a small altar appeared in front of Thomas.

[Discovered Normal Goddess of Life Altar. Triggered Super Enhancement System. Increasing...]

[Normal Goddess of Life Altar increased to Luxurious Goddess of Life Altar.]

[Luxurious Goddess of Life Altar: An altar that was meticulously created, greatly increasing the response probability of the Goddess of Life and slightly increasing the favorability of the Goddess of Life.]

"It can actually increase the favorability of the Goddess of Life?" Thomas was overjoyed.

Although he had never worshipped the Goddess of Life before, he knew how important the favorability of a God was.

He had to hold on to this leg.

Thomas took out 12 bottles of 10-year-old wine and placed them on the altar. He prayed silently to the altar, "Great Goddess of Life, your believers offer their most sincere respect to you. These are the spoils of war from defeating a powerful enemy. I am willing to offer the glory of victory to you. May your glory forever shine on your people."

As soon as Thomas finished his prayer, the runes on the altar lit up one by one. A shadow slowly appeared in the center of the altar.

In the shadow, a Goddess was sitting on a golden carriage. She was wearing armor and holding a spear. She looked majestic.

Thomas had seen the same statue in the main city. This was the Goddess of Life.

To his surprise, he actually succeeded in his first prayer.

After all, the Goddess of Life would not respond to a prayer 100%.

Even if the high priest in the main city held a large-scale sacrifice for tens of thousands of people, the Goddess of Life might not respond.

But he had only performed a simple sacrifice once, and it was actually responded to.

This made Thomas ecstatic.

It seemed that the Luxurious Goddess of Life Altar was indeed extraordinary.

Thomas respectfully said to the Goddess of Life, "Respected Goddess, your subject Thomas sends his sincere greetings to you. Today, in the battle against the pagans, I destroyed a statue of the Evil God of the pagans and obtained some spoils of war. I am willing to give the glory of victory to you first, Great Goddess of Life."

After hearing Thomas' words, the Goddess of Life was very satisfied.

In particular, Thomas had destroyed a statue of an Evil God.

For a god, eliminating the heretics was the greatest achievement.

Moreover, Thomas was so good that he had given the spoils of war to herself, which made the Goddess of Life even more satisfied.

"Not bad, you've done well. I'm very satisfied. I'll take these spoils of war. If you can destroy the three Evil God statues, I can consider you as my priest. This is your reward. I hope you can spread my glory to every corner of the earth."

The Goddess of Life waved her hand, and a sumptuous feast appeared in front of everyone.

Golden roasted suckling pigs, fat roasted turkey, steak bigger than a plate, drumsticks piled up like a hill, plates of fresh fruits, and pieces of art-like pastries filled the table.

Not only did these delicacies make O'Neill and the others widen their eyes, even Thomas, who had been to Michelin restaurants, was a little shocked.

Just the taste alone, these dishes were even better than those Michelin restaurants.

Was this something that God had bestowed?

It was indeed extraordinary.

"Thank you, Goddess, for your reward. We will definitely spread your glory to every corner of the earth."

The Goddess of Life was very satisfied with the reaction of Thomas and the others.

"I am looking forward to your next sacrifice."

With that, the light and shadow of the Goddess of Life disappeared.

Looking at the food that was like a small mountain, Thomas called out to everyone, "Everyone, come and eat. We have been hungry for a whole day. Eat your fill and then work."

Hearing that, O'Neill and the others immediately went to the long table to eat.

Thomas also sat on the main seat and began to taste it.

In the main city, they only had two pieces of bread for each meal.

Not to mention fruits, even meat could only be eaten a little every month.

Even if they were sent to the wilderness, everyone only brought enough black bread to eat for three days.

Apart from that, the rest of the things had to be solved by themselves.

While others could only live on bread, Thomas could eat delicious meat. It was a paradise.

Thomas even felt that he was sitting in the Hall of Valhalla, enjoying a banquet that would last for ten thousand years.

Thomas ate a huge steak, three drumsticks, four cakes, two bowls of grapes, and a banana. Then he couldn't eat anymore.

He rubbed his stomach and looked at the sides of the long table.

O'Neill was still holding a roasted suckling pig and eating until his face was covered in oil.

The soldiers did not eat much better either. Their mouths were filled with food.

The only one who ate better was Arya. However, there were more than twenty plates of cake next to her.

Seeing that everyone was eating happily, Thomas did not disturb them. Instead, he went to the side alone and prepared to build a new building.

At this time, the camp already had four defensive buildings. They were the level 2 Arrow Tower, the level 3 Continuous Fireball Tower, the level 2 Wall of Bones, and the level 2 Blood Spike trap.

The only drawback was that these four buildings were all on the same line and could defend against the enemies in front. However, if the enemies came from behind, Thomas would not have any means to defend.

What Thomas had to do now was fill in the gaps.
