CHAPTER 8
"Talia" I flinched when I heard him shout at the corner.
I closed my eyes and heaved a deep breath. I'm at my training. It's been days since we started and now I can say, I'm getting better with controlling my Veta.
"Control it, Talia. Rule over it and don't let it control you." Dimitri said. Damiro appointed him as my Trainor.
I swirled my hands and moved them in an upward motion and then down.
I continued doing it until I felt warmth against my palms. This is one of the Firenes' power. As the word itself means fire. It is their major and most dominant power, to be able to control and make fires. Only a few of them can do much more. Others can control minds, levitate things, and they were once able to have healing powers until they were ruled out by the Dalessis long ago. Firenes can also create spells and cast them over someone.
With the everyday training, I was able to control it better.
"How's the training?" I sat on the chair beside him as we ate our dinner in the long dining table.
"I can say, I'm getting better." I said shortly and continued eating my food.
"Good." He said coldly. He put his utensils down and stared down to his plate. I can hear his heavy breathing and his eyes were a bit uneasy.
My forehead knotted and my brows furrowed.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
For a moment, he closed his eyes and sighed. He met my eyes and I immediately looked away. For these past few days, Damiro and I weren't talking much like we were before. Pft. After that night, my anger had risen more each day.
"Are you okay?" I blinked twice and I felt my heart's frantic beats. My lips parted as I looked back at him. He stared deep into my eyes and I tried to speak but no words came out.
"Are you okay, Celeste?" He asked again.
I swallowed hard and and tried calming my heart.
"Y-yes. W-what wouldn't I be— I mean... I-im okay, I guess." I stuttered and tore my eyes off of his. Dang!
He felt my uneasiness and a small smirk plastered on his face. My eyes widened and my cheeks heated when I saw that. He chuckled a bit and shook his head. What was that?
We resumed eating and after that, we went on our rooms.
I stared at the mirror in front of me, I can see clearly the beautiful Cresent moon on my chest. I touched it and closed my eyes. This mark. My mind flew off to my family. How are they? My Papa, is he doing good?
I opened my eyes when I heard consecutive knocks on my room's door. I went out of the bathroom and covered myself with a thick and fluffy white robe.
I froze when I finally opened my room's door. Towering over me was Damiro in his pajamas. I admit it, he looked good with it, tho I kinda find it weird.
"Can I come in?" He said after a while of staring. I blinked twice and nodded briefly.
I opened the door widely and stepped aside to let him come in. He went straight to the bed and sat as he looked at me. His green eyes were beautiful as the lamp's warm light illuminated his face. His hair was slightly disheveled and the way his lashes flutter looked so sensual with every blink, his lips were red and it looked so soft. I tilted my head and shook the thought In my mind.
I looked away and made my way back to the bathroom to put on some clothes.
"I'll sleep here." He informed me as I walked out of the bathroom. I'm now wearing a sleeved satin night gown. I went in front of the mirror and started combing my hair.
"Okay. But don't cross the line." I said in monotonous voice.
"Why? We've cuddled before tho." He said as he fixed his side of the bed.
I stopped and shot him a sharp look through the mirror. He raised his brow and leaned against the headboard with both of his arms on the back of his head.
"Yeah. Before. But that doesn't mean we'll cuddle now, next time, or forever! Never." I said, glaring as I put my comb down and faced him. I crossed my arms on my chest and looked at him almost occupying my bed.
"Next time? Sure there is." He smirked and playfully played his lips with his thumb and forefinger. Dang!
"Asshole." I glared at him and he just chuckled. Like, what the hell's wrong with this guy? Lunatic!
I went to the bed with a heavy heart. Dang! Why did I even let him sleep here? He's got a room of himself so why is he kept on sleeping here?
"Good night, my Queen." He said as I fixed myself to sleep. I turned my back on him and closed my eyes. What a 'good' night, my King! Mark the sarcasm.
An hour had passed but my closed eyes are still aren't tired. I can't sleep! Uhrg! I turned and faced up on the ceiling instead. I put my arm on my forehead and stared at the darkness of the room. My gaze caught Damiro, sleeping peacefully beside me. I stared at him for a moment. He looked angelic while asleep. His long lashes, gosh, I just love his eyes and lashes! His perfect nose, his cute squished cheeks against the pillows, I closed my mouth shut to suppress my laughs. Cute. Wait. What? I closed my eyes and stared back up. Stop it Celeste!
I took a deep breathe and tried sleeping again, but seems like my body still haven't gotten used sleeping here. I looked back at Damiro as an idea crossed my mind. Slowly, I got up off the bed and carefully walked to the door. It squeaked a bit and I closed my eyes when Damiro moved a bit. Dang! Just sleep there Damiro!
Then finally, I tiptoed through the dark hallways down to the huge doors to the garden. I am barefooted as I walked silently, passing some sleepy- looking guards. What a shame.
I made it to the garden. Under the huge apple tree, I sat on the chair as I looked around. There's not much of light but the moon somehow lights some things here. I stared at the darkness of the sky. The stars are brightly shining up above. I smiled. Even in the darkest time, there's still beauty if you'll just look through.
I quickly stood up when I heard something behind the bushes. I stepped back ready to run if something monstrous comes out. My heart started pounding hard on my chest as the bushes moved. Dang! What's that?
The wind was cold and it sipped through my clothes. I stepped back once more until I stepped on a small branch. I picked it up and pointed it towards that direction. I anticipated what that creature might be so that I could run as fast as I can.
"Ah—" My screams were caught in my throat when I saw what it actually was. A small cute puppy, rushed out of the bushes.
I sighed in relief and bent down. I picked it up and looked at it. Poor little puppy. I sat back down on the chair again and put the puppy on my lap.
"What are you doing here eh? It's late and you're still wandering off the dark?" I chuckled as I caressed its body.
The wind blew again and this time, it was colder so I swirled my hand in small motions to create a small flame on my palm. As the light hit the puppy, it hurled on my lap, comfortable with the warmth ith fire's giving us. Hmm, I can see it's a girl.
"I shall name you Cora. Hmm... Do you like it?" I whispered and continued caressing her. She looked adorable. She got small brown spots on her white thick fur.
"What are you doing here?" I jumped a bit when I heard someone spoke beaide me. My heart banged hard as I looked back.
I gulped when I saw how his eyes glinted with anger. Dang! I wanted to run but I can't and I don't want to wake the puppy.
"U-umm, you're awake." I stuttered and smiled sheepishly at him.
His brows furrowed as he tilted his head.
"What's that?" He proved and headed towards me. My mouth ran dry when I felt him in front of me. He squatted down and looked at the cute puppy. The fire on my hand still dancing with the cold wind giving us comfortable heat.
"Where did you get that?" He asked and slightly touched its head.
"I saw her here, wandering behind the bushes." I laughed silently and looked at the puppy too. He chuckled a bit and continued caressing her.
His gaze went to me and I froze when our eyes met. My heart, again! Dang!
His lips were stretched into a small smile and his eyes were bright. The light illuminated half of his face and I can say, he looked breathtaking as he looked up to me.
His eyes went down to my body and I shivered. I don't know if its because of the cold wind or what...
"You're cold. Come on, let's go back. Bring her with you if you want. " He said and tore his eyes off of my body. I saw him gulped as he stood up and quickly walked away. I held my chest to calm myself. Like what the hell?!
