CHAPTER 10
"What's this?" I asked.
We were having our breakfast when my handmaiden gave me a red huge box.
" A gift?" He simply said and continued eating his food.
"Really? At breakfast?" I inquired sarcastically.
"Open it." he commanded without looking at me. I glared at him but still did open the box.
"What's this?" I asked dumbly as I look at it.
"A dress, obviously." He said bluntly and sighed.
"What's with this?"
"Just wanna give you that. Why? You don't like it?" His forehead knotted and he put his utensils down before giving me his attention.
I looked at the red dress he gave me. It's beautiful and elegant. Tho I find it too much, it's too scandalous if there's that kind of word for Firenes or even in this world.
"I like it." I said and looked back at him. His forehead was still knotted as if not satisfied with my answer.
"It's okay if you don't like it. I'll give you another one if you'd like. " He told me and I immediately shook my head in protest but he already called my handmaiden and she took the box from me.
"No! That dress is fine. I like it. And besides, you don't have to do this, Damiro." I said.
"I told you we'll work this out, Talia." His face darkened and his lips formed a grim line.
"Well, yes but—"
"Then I will do my thing to work this out. We'll do it in our own little ways. Don't tell me to not do it, this is my decision." He grimaced.
I slowly nodded and sighed. You'll get tired of it. We won't work out.
Later that afternoon, I walked with my handmaiden in the garden. Under the Apple tree, we sat and talked a bit tho she would always give me short answers.
"The King, Your Majesty was nice." She answered.
"Was? What happened to him?" I questioned and turned to look at her.
"Prophecy. He doesn't want it." She replied.
Our conversation was interrupted when Cora went to us. I carried her and placed her on my lap as I pat her head.
"What exactly is the prophecy?" I asked and looked at the sky.
"Your Majesty, I do not have the rights to tell you what it is. I'm so sorry." she bowed and showed me a small smile.
Seems like I have to ask someone else. It made me curious about Firenes' prophecy. Intensified with what Damiro's mother said to me about leaving this place, it's as if she doesn't want to be in here, or to be involved in this kind of live ever. A child, that's what she always asked me, could it be...
"Where does Damiro's mother lives? I can see she's not leaving here at the palace." I asked and gazed at her.
"She lives outside the palace, Your Majesty. She despised everything from the start and she loathed herself for being a Fi——" she trailed off.
"Go on..." I urged. I saw uneasiness in get eyes as she looked around for a bit and then faced me. She sighed and moved closer to me. Intrigued with her revelations, I sat closer to her until we're inches away from each other.
"She's not a real Firenes, she's a human, like you Your Majesty." She whispered lowly that shook me to the bones. She's a human?
I fell silent for a while. This is more complicated and mysterious than I expected. What happened to their family? How was it that she's actually a human? And why was she in a Firenes Kingdom and have a Firenes son? And why does she despise being a Firenes?
