Anyone who is familiar with this chinese fantasy setting, feel free to skip this section. 

Setting: 

This story is heavily based on the genre "xianxia" though it leant more towards "Xuanhuan."

"Xuan" means mysterious and "Huan" means fantasy. All in all, Xuanhuan is a broader kind of fictional fantasy, even more supernatural and fantasy than "Xianxia." It also includes a lot of Chinese folklore/mythology(either it is a remix or rewrite) and sometimes mixed with foreign fantasy elements as well. It might include a little bit of Daoist elements, just not as much as "Xianxia."

In this story, I decided to use a little of Chinese mythology/folklore, for example the appearance of the guardians of the four cardinal directions; also referred to as The Four Guardians; Four Gods; Four Auspicious Beasts. 

And also more about Royal Harems or the Imperial Chinese Harem, where the ranks of imperial consorts have varied over the course of Chinese history but remained important throughout owing to its importance in management of the inner court and in imperial succession, which ranked heirs according to the prominence of their mothers in addition to their strict birth order.
