This might have sounded repetitive but Bai Shuyin felt like she had been scorched.
She glanced to her side and peek at the silent guard that stood a few feet from her. This ordinary looking guard was just like an NPC of a game. His presence was so small that Bai Shuyin had momentarily forgotten that he was there sometimes.
It made her wonder if he felt hot underneath those robes he wore. He even had armor across his chest and arms, he must be sweating bullets inside! She was drenched in sweat in her thin robes, that guard couldn't possibly not be sweating!
Both of them were walking just a few paces behind Wu Jiangfeng. Wasn't she the tour guide? Shouldn't she be the one leading them instead of the Crown Prince?
Wu Jiangfeng seemed really eager to explore the City by himself. His violet eyes with reddish hue were shining as he took in everything, like he was really fascinated with NiuNu City.
Though Bai Shuyin had never been to the South Wu Kingdom, she doubted NiuNu City could compare to his hometown. Based on the novel, Southern Wu Kingdom was one of the most prosperous Kingdom.
They prioritized scholars and intellectuals instead of nepotism inside their palace, hence the Southern Wu Kingdom's infrastructure was much more advanced compared to other Kingdom's.
Their military powers were not far off behind, only coming in second from the infamous Wang Kingdom. Southern Wu Kingdom might not be the feared one, but being able to form an alliance with them would guarantee said Kingdom a good backing.
"Xiao Bai."
"Y-- Yes?" Bai Shuyin startled and halted herself before she could crash into Wu Jiangfeng. She was far too lost in her head to notice how the Crown Prince had stopped and was facing her.
"...Can I call you Xiao Bai?"
If anything that Bai Shuyin ever regretted in her previous life, it was her lack of interest in literature as she couldn't find the words adequate to describe this handsome young man.
Wordlessly, Bai Shuyin only nodded.
"Excellent! Then… Xiao Bai, do you have any particular shop you want to visit?" He smiled and an arrow struck Bai Shuyin in the heart.
'Please don't smile at me like that, my weak heart can't take it!'
"Nothing in particular," Bai Shuyin coughed into her fist. "I really don't care about what I wear as long as I'm not in my birthday suit…" She mumbled out quietly which was unfortunately caught by Wu Jiangfeng's sharp ears.
"Birthday suit…?" Wu Jiangfeng tilted his head to the side, the crimson red bangs followed his movement.
"Ah, no-- ahahaha, I mean…" Bai Shuyin waved her arms around as if trying to erase what she just said. How could she use such a modern term in this era? People would think she was someone with mental cases.
"Your Royal Highness, as long as it's comfortable, this humble servant is really fine with anything." Bai Shuyin finished lamely, scratching her cheek. Besides, if someone was going to buy for her, who was she to ask for more? It was like someone offering you their liver and you were asking for their heart.
She wasn't that shameless!
"Then you won't mind if I choose it for you…?" Wu Jiangfeng trailed off but he grinned the brightest grin Bai Shuyin had ever seen. Not that she wouldn't mind, but why would he go as far as that?
'Did he forget he is here for a playdate?' Bai Shuyin's eyebrows twitched. Men in this era was never known to be loyal and prefered polygamy, totally not her cup of tea, after all.
When Bai Shuyin shook her head, Wu Jiangfeng beamed and reached for her hand. He held her thin and delicate wrist so gently like Bai Shuyin was made of porcelain and fragile.
Wu Jiangfeng dragged her along, pointing at many different stores that Bai Shuyin wouldn't even take a glance at. She would throw a mouthful of blood before she even heard the price.
However, Bai Shuyin was too stunned to speak as she was pulled along. Her mind wasn't smart enough to comprehend the current situation. She wouldn't want to sound like someone narcissistic but…
Did Wu Jiangfeng just hit on her?!

-Meanwhile on the other side of NiuNu City-
Bright sun rays streamed down the City and Wang Heiyue never thought that looking for a white mass would be that complicated. To say that he was perplexed was an understatement.
Hundreds of pedestrians crossed the streets, moving from one stall to another, all of them had dark shades of hair similar to his. Yet he still couldn't spot any white hair.
Wang Heiyue swore under his breath, still baffled at how loose his grip was on Bai Shuyin that with just a little knock from passersby, they were already separated.
Throughout the afternoon, Wang Heiyue had already sprint like a hellhound starving for prey all around the City. When he heard about the commotion in the center of the marketplace, he sped with his little and short legs towards the place immediately, only to find that everyone had dispersed.
Wang Heiyue swept a hand over his long raven-black hair, wiping the sweat off his forehead as he did so. He stood at the intersection near the entrances of a couple of streets. The streets were crowded with commoners and merchants.
As he progressed along the street, Wang Heiyue felt like something was not quite right. It was as if…
Someone was watching him.
Had that old goat started sending his troops out? In his first lifetime, he was too young to notice the subtle change in his surroundings. He was too naive, too oblivious and unconcerned, making him an easy target.
Now, it was different.
He wasn't vulnerable like before. He would not hesitate to kill anyone that threatened his and Bai Shuyin's existence.
Pretending not to be aware of being watched, Wang Heiyue unnoticably looked around, sweeping his dark eyes among the crowd, but there were so many people on the street that it wouldn't be easy to locate who was keeping watch on him.

AuthorKola: Are you dumb? He is just being nice and you think he likes you? How much more shameless can you be?
Bai Shuyin: Can't even let this single dog fantasize peacefully. *sniffs.*
Wu Jiangfeng: Eh, but I kinda like you…?
AuthorKola and Bai Shuyin: WHAT?!
