"Oh, hello young master Bai!"
Heavenly doctor Ling instantly greeted Bai Liu, who was well known throughout the kingdom. He was the prime minister's son, and probably the future prime minister so there really was no one who didn't know him.
The awkward group stared at Bai Liu who was still lying on the floor. Bai Liu almost instantly got up, furiously blushing and proceeding to wipe his clothes down to get the mud stains off.
Heavenly doctor Ling ran up to Bai Liu to help him up but ended up standing up in front of him awkwardly as he wiped himself down.
Heavenly doctor Ming coughed from the corner and glared at Bai Liu.
"What are you doing here, young master Bai? Are you ill?"
Bai Liu had actually come to the jade medical hall to take a peek and see if he could catch a glimpse of elusive younger sister. He had then been told that Bai Jingfei had gone to the other hall with heavenly doctor Ming and Ladder.
He then decided to peek into the hall where he had tripped over a flower pot and embarrassed himself and all his ancestors in front of these people.
Heavenly doctor Ling smiled at Bai Liu. It was a business smile, through and through.
"Young master Bai, would you like to join us for tea?"
It had temporarily slipped heavenly doctor Liu's mind that he was going to be serving his guests his expensive and rare Mountain Jasmine Tea that had taken him a month to procure and had cost him a very pretty penny.
Bai Liu nodded quietly like a child who had just been told off, strangely subdued.
He walked behind the rest of the rest of the group till they reached an ornate tea room with woven mats and a huge table. Heavenly doctor Ming plopped himself down in front of the table shamelessly and stretched his tiny feet out as much as he could, as if on a picnic.
Heavenly doctor Ling grunted out of annoyance and kicked heavenly doctor Ming's leg lightly to move it out of the way. He then sat on the opposite end of the table.
Ladder sat down next to heavenly doctor Ming and made eye contact with Bai Liu who had taken a seat next to heavenly doctor Ling, opposite to Ladder.
Ladder soon realized why Bai Liu was glaring at him, and he took the napping Bai Jingfei off of his shoulder and plonked her next to himself.
Bai Liu frowned, watching his delicate younger sister being thrown around like luggage. But Bai Jingfei herself was still asleep, and even being thrown around wasn't enough to wake her up. She hadn't slept very well the last few days anyway, why not enjoy her nap.
Ladder took a peek at Bai Liu who looked like he'd explode, and nudged Bai Jingfei away gently.
Too bad gentle for a gigantic man like Ladder, was still way too much force to use on a loli.
Bai Jingfei was stunned awake. She yawned and looked around, seeing familiar faces all around. She didn't recognize where she was but it didn't really matter to her.
She yawned again, stretching her arms out and knocking Ladder in the chest. The two of them stared at each other and giggled. Ladder reached out and patted Bai Jingfei's head.
Bai Jingfei turned in front and saw her brother.
"Brother? What are you doing here? Are you unwell?"
Bai Liu had no choice but to look at Bai Jingfei once she directly addressed him. With darting eyes he finally spit out an excuse.
"I'm here on official business…"
This intrigued both the heavenly doctors who looked at him curiously. What exactly could be the business that young master Bai was here on?
"What business are you here on, young master Bai?" asked heavenly doctor Ling, finally breaking the silence in the room. He scratched his head quietly.
Bai Liu bent forward and whispered to the group, "I'm here to search for the person who impersonated heavenly doctor Ming…"
Of course this wasn't a complete lie. It was mostly a lie though. Whether you consider it a lie on not depends on the percentage of truth you need in a statement.
It was true in the sense that he was searching for the imposter but he definitely wasn't there for that purpose today.
He was there to catch a glimpse of his younger sister and then boast to his father about it.
Heavenly doctor Ling was the first to react to this statement.
"Have you found anything yet? Anything suspicious?" his eyes would not leave heavenly doctor Ming, hoping to get a reaction out of him.
Bai Liu had indeed found something out. Upon asking the owner of a local store he had found out that the imposter had been wearing a fake beard that looked incredibly suspicious.
Bai Liu said this to the group, and Bai Jingfei sat on the side with clammy palms.
She had indeed been wearing a fake beard that day. It wasn't possible for her to grow a real beard after all. She was incredibly paranoid right now.
She had left the beard just lying around in the Bai mansion. Bai Jingfei hadn't bothered to get rid of evidence, and she only had one way out of this problem. To get rid of it now.
If she didn't get rid of it, that was simply a recipe for disaster.
She thought back to the prison she had set on fire. Thankfully she hadn't left any evidence there.
Unless you counted a witness as evidence. But that witness was a co-conspirator so there wasn't much to worry about in that case anyway.
Bai Jingfei smiled at Bai Liu, calming herself as the rest of the group made some casual talk.
"Teacher, can I go visit home today, now that we're already here? I'd like to visit my father and maybe pick up some clothes…"
